yeah...I did a lumper load which they said it was going to be 4 hours before they would get to us and cost $350.00. I said yeah ok i can do it...i did it in 45 min and paid myself the $350...
Don't even get me started with lumpers, years a go it was a free market, people would freelance as lumpers they would hang around the warehouses and you would hire them or not hire them if they were not busy you would get them dirt cheap, then all the sudden the warehouses started their own lumping companies and that is when it got bad you had to hire their lumpers and you could not touch the freight and Jason is right it got to be the BIGGEST scam EVER!!!
Im a former OTR driver that sat at the entrance to the industrial park with a CB. In 1979, I could get around $45 a trailer. Two trailers on a day off would earn me almost the equivalent of a day's pay driving....and I would often be home before 2 pm.
One of my first loads when I started driving was a load of unpalletized potato chips. The trailer was loaded from floor to ceiling. I was totally green to driving. The shipping and receiving office wanted to know if I needed Lumpers. I said "What is a lumper?". I was basically screwed by the dispatcher. I spent 2 hours unloading, palletizing and shrink wrapping a loaded 53'. I was exhausted. Screw me once, shame on them. Screw me twice, shame on me. I never gave them the 2nd opportunity. I quit that day.
You'll never please everyone, I personally enjoy the talking segments. These are great videos thanks for the uploads, I watch them all the way through.
You all just keep on talking, I enjoy it...Jason you are looking slimmer, great job...love seeing the babies, you all be safe, god bless..love Peggy 💗 ♥ 💓
Truly enjoy the scenery and the conversation! Keep up the good work on Keto, it works I lost 108 lbs it’s a life style. Safe travels and good health to y’all 😉
If the lumper "service" was not there, confusion and further inefficiency would occur. Similar to your liftgate analogy, it's a service. There is an insurance liability dock issue too IF the service was not there. Insurance governs so much today. I quit a job in the late '80s while at a grocery warehouse, their expectation offloading a floor loaded cubed trailer by myself. That was a time when lumpers were not a "thing." Lumpers have a purpose and drivers don't "pay" for that service. If they are, they're getting shafted
Hi Jason & Heather! Good to see you guys again, glad to see you had a good weekend and are keeping busy. Thank you for the video. Peace, Love, & Expediting!
My apologies, when you guys started going towards your truck, I presumed the video is over, and left my comment, then I saw the video is not over and I continued watching. Little bit later in the video you mentioned lumpers as the biggest ripoff scam, and I agree with you. Being an ex semi truck driver with over 2 million safely driven miles behind me, I had the bad luck pulling a reefer for few years, and when you pull a reefer, you know the lumper's game, you are right: lumpers is one of the biggest ripoff scam in trucking
You can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time..one of my favorite sayings that has stuck with me for years. You both do a great job posting videos. We find them enjoyable. Thanks!
@@TheCraftyTrucker You are welcome. I got to tell you something really funny. I fell asleep listening to some jazz and had a dream of watching sheep eating and all of a sudden a sheep pooped out a bail of hay, Boy I got to quit watching so many sheep farm videos on RU-vid. lol
Do your carb diet til u plateau. When u plateau look into carb cycling . U will eat some carbs one day less next and so on til u r down to almost zero and stay there for 10 days 2 weeks and then do over , but research it . Good luck . Love u guys Dude u r wasting away the little dogs r starting to look bigger next to u
My last load was setup for driver unload or lumper, I would have received 50.00 for unload, 40,000 pounds, I used the lumper service and got a com check for the lumper, 234.00 for lumper service. 6 1/2 hours to unload 20 pallets. It’s always been a ripoff, always will be. Another great video y’all. Be safe. Dan.
I subscribe to to a lot of trucking channels and yours is my favorite by far. I enjoy the combination of talking and awesome Scenic editing. I even enjoy it more than my own channel 😊😊😊👍👍
88° last Thursday. 39° on Tuesday 😳 That’s Texas weather! We moving from North Texas (DFW) to Tip of Hill Country, Glen Rose, just north of Bosque County, which is getting us closer to Waco & Central Texas. 🌧 slowing down construction this week ☹️
If I had a load that had to be unloaded by hand the guy I was running with and I done it we never hired a lumper. Made some of them mad that unloaded some of our trucks everytime them loads come in, but I was out there trying to make a living for my family not their's. The company didn't pay for lumpers if we hired one we had to pay for it. That took money out of my pocket and my wife didn't like that. Besides that gives you some exercise that you don't get setting behind that wheel or laying in the sleeper. Stay safe and God bless.
Boy, you were so close to us here in Spring. I had to look up the Waco Airport and see that RV park there. Looks really nice. Maybe I can get Randy to take me there someday to go look for Bigfoot. I understand there are some sightings in that area. I've been binging Finding Bigfoot documentaries, LOL. Too much time on my hands for sure. We actually talked about going to Livingston last weekend to check it out. Yup......we talked about it. LOL. Take good care, until next video!
My first week was great expediting. Unfortunately in Temple, Texas today they had accidents that had stopped traffic. Guy ran right into me. Had to go to hospital. Truck will be fixed in about 45 days.
Wow...haven’t heard the term “lumpers” for along time. Used to get vans loading at our place who just delivered at a huge grocery warehouse. The drivers were not happy at all having to pay to some contract labor to unload his truck. Its a real racket. Customer gets free labor to unload the truck and stage the material and the trucker pays for it all.
Waco Willy Meyers. You were in town during the drag races at Ennis, TX. Or were they in Houston? Oh well. Most of us don't care about a little bg noise.... I missed this one so catching up.... Does Landstar "Express America" still have vans? In a 1-ton van, I took Styrofoam meal containers to a grocery warehouse. I was supposed to pay, union lumpers to unload. Oh and wait two hrs. The foreman took mercy on me and allowed me and also taught me how to "correctly" load the 2 pallets. YIKES
Our rates are the same, if the tailgate was or wasn't used for a delivery, that being said there have been times when we did deliveries for another logistics company that stated on the weigh bill "tailgate service" and we were paid by the logistics company for the tailgate, but that doesn't happen all that often. You also look at things another way, how many good loads are you able to get because you have a tailgate? So while you may not be compensated for buying a tailgate perhaps you are able to get loads that you otherwise would have had to pass on.
That’s exactly right about having more load opportunities by having it verses not. There have been loads the customer requests a lift gate truck and we didn’t even have to use it but if we didn’t have it we wouldn’t have gotten that load.
It is the cutest thing watching Abby and Tyson trying to get into the video and they look like trying to have a conversation with you guys and people watching. They are obsolutely beautiful.
When I was driving lumpers would jump on the tractor and ride in to the docks with you . I was like they were stuck on !!!! At that time they were paid $50 to unload. I didn't like the lumpers ....... get off my damn truck !!!!!!!!
Lumpers are a taxes write off for corporations. Always have been. You are doing keto like I have for 6 yrs. I am glad to see more keto products coming out, you do have to watch the ingredients tho. And the crazy pricing. You are losing fat not muscle, so you don't lose pounds as much as inches. Muscle weights more than fat.
There is a grocery place in Fort Worth Texas too that is an absolute nightmare. We’ve heard the grocery places are the worst because they require that tie and high
Yall should go to Camping World and become a Good Sam member if you're not already. They get discounts at a lot of campgrounds. They also have an app that you can look at whatever town you will be in and it will list the campgrounds and it even has ratings for the campgrounds..
Love the content keep it going. It doesn't bother me that you guys ramble on once in a while. If someone doesn't like it they can move on to another video.
Nice wheelie P/u truck, Ford trucks only, I have a 2005 Ford Ranger, wish I could afford the new Ranger, $40,000, way out of my pay scale, geez!! Happy trails, drivers!!
So speaking of airplanes I grew up just miles away from the Cleveland Ohio airport and they were definitely certain times of the day certain times of the week that those planes were only two or three minutes apart couldn’t have a conversation with anyone because they were so loud
