(the opponents of) Borislav Ivanov would beg to differ... I guess he didn't completely get away with it since he got a ban for a while, but no one uncovered hard proof of how he did it. Officials just saw an FM suddenly playing 100% perfect games every game. Then he moved on from chess and ran an ID counterfeiting ring before going to prison. What a guy.

Bobby Fischer’s peak rating is 2895 - he never got a 100% accurate game. Garry Kasparov’s peak rating is 2856 - he never got a 100% accurate game. Hans Niemann’s peak rating is 2688 - and he has had 10 games with 100% accuracy. One of those games was 42 consecutive perfect moves, and it was not a blowout type of game either. Doing that is pretty much impossible. Hans is 19 years old with 10 perfect games already, Magnus (peak rating 2882) is 31 and has had only 2 perfect games in his whole career. People that don’t think this is at least credible evidence are incredibly naive.
@saiyansfizz
@saiyansfizz Год назад
@Chando No one is talking about comparisons for the court though. This is a social issue. We treat social justice different than court justice. Evidence is treated differently in social situations. I think you know this. For example, Say you have a friend / girlfriend that frequents your house. Whenever they come over, you notice that things are suddenly missing. One day it's a phone charger, another day it's some money you left out on your desk in your room. You confront them about it and ask them, they deny it. They say I did not steal and you have no 'evidence' to believe I did do it. In this world (the world you're laying out in your comment) you have no moral justification in taking action in protecting your belongings from this person. Would you just say 'oh I guess so, you're right I don't have any evidence..' and move on? Would you go and buy cameras and put them all around your house so you can get evidence? Would you continue to allow them to steal your stuff? What happens when cameras can't solve this dilemma? What I would say to someone in such a situation is I don't need HARD evidence to confront you about it, and stop allowing you into my house. The circumstances surrounding my stuff going missing and you coming over happens way too often. Without a shadow of a doubt? This means zero in social situations. We take probability over 'without a shadow of a doubt'. Of course there's a chance the stuff was not stolen by the friend/girlfriend. But that's kind of irrelevant. I hope you're following this example, my point is the circumstances surrounding Hans is way too much of a 'coincidence' (having a cheater be his mentor, the accuracy of the games, PLUS the opinions of the GMs who closely observe the situation) to just be brushed off by someone like you as 'without a shadow of a doubt'. In social issues, we can take action even if its not 100%.
@DavidRodriguez-hh6kx
@DavidRodriguez-hh6kx Год назад
@@saiyansfizz it's not a social issue, it's in the courts now.
@saiyansfizz
@saiyansfizz Год назад
@@DavidRodriguez-hh6kx It is a social issue. The 'court' issue that rose from it is irrelevant to what I was talking about. Just because something ends up in the court doesn't mean its not a social issue. Hans is taking Magnus to court for defamation ... not the other way around. Magnus is not taking Hans to court for cheating. My comment was talking about the validity of the view that Hans is a cheater That would be like the friend taking you to court over saying to other people that they're a thief... ( see my example ) ... it is a social issue still
@saiyansfizz
@saiyansfizz Год назад
@Chando Ok well I'm glad you admitted that you don't care about it. Us in the chess community do, as it's affecting the integrity of the game & sport in general. If you have been a part of chess for a long time (as I have) then you would care. So if you don't care, please just take a step back and don't just say things without any backing. If someone were to be cheating in baseball, basketball or any other spectator sport does this matter? Well it does for the people who invest the time and effort to follow these things. Social issue disingenuous? Not really. The original comment that you replied to was talking about 'credible evidence' in the terms of whether or not YOU should consider Hans a cheater. Nothing about 'the courts'. You were the one who brought up the courts (which is irrelevant because we're talking about a social issue) Even if we were talking about the court case, Hans is taking MAGNUS to court for DEFAMATION. not the other way around. I could understand if Magnus was taking Hans to court and then you label it a court issue. But it's not that way.

That and a lot of these tournaments have serious prize money. Imagine being able to guarantee yourself a top 3 spot a few tournaments throughout the year, could be a couple hundred thousand $. Everything about Hans is a red flag he’s definitely cheated OTB and recently. Imo if you take the time to get creative and find a way to do it I don’t even think it’d be that difficult. Way too much technology for me to think it isn’t 100% possible in probably dozens of ways

@@case6189 That is absolutely correct! And what many people have pointed out is that these people (Hans in particular) are already very good at chess they do not need to cheat at every move. All it takes is 1 moment of outside help at the right time and he can win a game against a better player. The security measures need to be drastically updated and improved. I also hope that Hans burns his money and reputation in these lawsuits that he started. He had the chance to quit chess while it was still unclear and many people defended him and use the created controversy to his advantage and make a lot of money and have a good life but he is an egoistical and greedy sob and he deserves the worst

War in the board could be liken to a war in a battlefield where there may be wrong places for the right unit or wrong unit for the right places but does not affect the total out come of the battle because most of the tactical or strategic moves are in right places hence some blunders may be compensated by a strong move or tactics. No new information for me. I really loved that you didn’t “ forgot” any detail, because, details really matters. You we’re honest and not bias to any side. Good job Andrea! Loved every second! ( the one thing I don’t understand on this all storyline is, if Magnus thought that Hans was a cheater in Saint Luis how didn’t he had the same point of view 10 days earlier in Miami and played him like nothing is wrong!??? Can someone please have a theory!????? I’m dying here!!!!)
@Factacious
@Factacious Год назад
A quote from Hikaru that sound like a good explanation. "Probably when he saw Hans’s play in Miami, and on the beach…it didn’t match with the level of the play in the actual event, when you combine it with the long-existing rumours, Magnus became convinced something was off". I will say that it is a case of enough is enough. Personally, I think the evidence is overwhelming. I hope you survive and prosper :)

to my knowledge, Magnus has never intimated that Hans actually cheated AT the Sinqfield. This very well could have been an extension of his disagreement (along with others) of allowing him to even play as a sub in in the tourney in the first place. Given Hans' history as a cheater which most high level players new about, it's very plausible that Magnus didn't even want to be across the board from a known cheater (phyche mess). It's hard mind-bendingly enough to play in a legendary tourney at that level, let alone with the added (tons of) weight of facing a known cheater over the board. This whole thing quite well may have been a zero-tolerance stance on cheaters by Magnus.

This is a good summary from Andrea, you can tell that the script is super careful to not say anything that they could get surf for, but to me, while the mathematical tools that show how insanely improbable so many of these events were and how not only has a boy with little sign of prodigy, after being coached by a known cheat, and cheating online regularly (believed to be around 100+ times) leaps to performing better than any person in history. Many games are at a level exceeding any player in history. Also, strangely, apart from an insane leap in performance during the few years since, unlike any other player at this level, he fails to continue to improve at all. Eg if you stack all players in history that are at that level we're prodigies at a very young age, showed genius and beating masters while under 10, then dedicated decades to gradually improving and even improving after hitting international level. Vs a known cheater, of mdoerate ability, skipping all prize games for 6 months and comes back as the best in the world and never improves since. Also, the post match interview showed an extreme lack of memory for the game just played and numerous statements of plays he considered, and most of those were losing options and he seemed to have zero awareness of this. Also, His gameplay over the board is highly erratic, dropping to his pre "miracle" level and then far exceeding the best players in the world. Also, he stated that he had prepped that particular extremely rare opening the day before in a miracle of luck. This open is so utterly rare, and Magnus has only ever played that open 1 time, when he was 7 years old. Many of his interviews also seem to contain very strange and mismatched / guilty sounding replies. The new accent. The cheating, then lying about it being only 2 games... I have been open to both options and if its a miracle - amazing. But just looking at this from a mathematical probability perspective, on balance I feel comfy that he is cheating. And I base that on the maths of the games. The chess speaks for itself.
@user-hi9jy5wy1m

One thing is clear from all of his interviews: Hans is an average player at best and doesn't know much about the game.
@jaybestnz
@jaybestnz 3 месяца назад
@@user-hi9jy5wy1m Agreed. And we have some months of that same person, mathematically, playing better than any human who has ever played, happening after he was known to be cheating, and also after being coached my a famous cheater. I feel comfortable that this points to cheating. If it wasn't cheating, it is statistically as unlikely as his insane change of form.

Woah, this is so interesting! I know pretty much nothing about chess, pure interest is fueling me asking this so divulge as much as possible. This information would be grounds for some sort of investigation in any sport, that bit I can understand. What I can’t understand is how you can even cheat in a sport like chess, where you are right infront of multiple people under the eye scrutiny. Someone mentioned ear pieces and whatnot but they would’ve clearly checked for this and I imagine atleast one person is looking at the guy at any given time. What methods of cheating can produce these effects and which is most likely in Hans’ situation??? Anyone who could give me even a little information would be highly appreciated.

There's an inaccuracy in the beginning of the video. In the FTX crypto cup it's true that Hans didn't score a single point but he also beat every single player in that tournament except Alireza. So, he didn't exactly get thrashed and he's perfectly capable of beating super grandmasters in a game.
