When I dual-wield it turns off the secret perk for some reason Edit nvm I just seem to have a low chance of it happening also if U off-handed it and two hand the other weapon it will still work
The item that increases damage with each different status on an enemy probably needs to go here. And then the ring they adds bleed to poison. Buff with poison weapon, and if you dual wield sticks, you can stack 5 different status effects on an enemy in just a few seconds. Idk how good that may be, but I’m definitely going to try it.
As long as it holds each buff long enough to actually apply a status affect, this is basically what I was thinking as well. Or maybe status build up counts for that amulet as well?
That necklace that increases status effects is actually terrible.. We tested it out on the discord and even with 5 different status effects, the flat damage/def amulets gave more damage. You get even more damage from the princess sting amulet if you're a light armored player also, a lot more.
Based on the armor set unlocking a totally new power to the weapon I bet by make a “build” for the weapon they mean there is a perfect set of items to be paired with the stick that either lore wise make sense or maybe a perfect combination of stats that make sense lore wise
I'm pretty sure hound appears in Skyrest when you kill archer boss - Gentle Gaverus, Mistress of Hounds - not Congregator of Flesh. At least it was true in my playthrough (and I guess from logical standpoint, makes more sense).
I tested the stick +10 with all different stat rings (including vitality and endurance), all four modes (physical, fire, radiant and umbral). what I found was that none of these seem to scale the damage at all. It seems to me it's either meant to scale on purely base damage of the weapon, or there is a part of the puzzle missing, such as a particular offhand to go with the rest of it. I thought possibly a shield such as the Orian Preacher Shield might fit the bill, but I'm not game to spend one of my chunks on upgrading it on a hunch. At the moment though, it seems the best way to build for it is put all your points into Vitality and Endurance, since it only seems to scale on base damage
Observations related to “The Stick” hidden ability Thehk-Ihir’s name is a combination of the names of two weapon’s released as an add-on for the original “Lords of the Fallen” game. Add-on weapon descriptions: “IHIR (sword) - in the demonic Adalúk language its name means 'the one who'. It suggests this mighty weapon’s versatility which is equally powerful for both attacking and blocking. MARGYR (daggers) - the name translates to 'friends', as they reward those who, forgoing a shield, trust the striking power of blades alone to see them safely through a fight. THEHK (hammer) - named 'thief' in the Adalúk tongue, this hammer leeches magical energy with each strike, feeding its wielder’s spells and gauntlet attacks” The name Thehk-Ihir in Adulak translates to “Thief-the one who”. My feeling is the translation is hinting at “The Iron Wayfarer” since he steals Adyr’s rune, also his hammer is the only weapon in the game to have all 3 elemental damage types (holy, fire, wither). I’ve seen him use both a wither and fire elemental attack on the Bramis Bridge depending on his quest progression. I also found a ring description referencing the Adulak language, “Adyrqamar Ring” which deals additional damage when two-handing a weapon. This fits well into a “Stick” build as holding it in the off hand will add the elemental buffs onto the main-hand weapon while two-handing it. My thoughts are the stick would activate the elemental special attack seen in the boss fight, but when I put this build together this morning it was nothing special. I feel I’m on the right track but still missing something. My next step is completing the Umbral Ending, which unlocks “The Iron Wayfarers” trophy coincidentally named “The last step”. Since he starts the game using Wither attacks, then Fire after he steals Adyr’s rune, unlocking his trophy might unlock his Holy attack and the special attack with his hammer while off-handing “The Stick” I sure hope to god this works 😬😬
When I first found it, I said to myself watch this stick be the most strongest weapon in the game. So I held on to it. Never trying to sell it, nothing. It just sits in my inventory. It's great to know that I was right to hang on to it. Thanks for the head up. I didn't even realize that it was a quest item.
i think different, i thought it was tied quest to thertalhik.. whatever his name is, and we should take stick until his final moments, i was expecting he going to die
I did exactly same thing. It’s just been sitting in inventory for ages. Pretty sure I’ve already done all steps in play through. Just need to upgrade it
Same. RPGs have made me a hoarder since I was a child. I learned early never sell anything. But I end up never using or selling anything, always saving it for some time that usually never happens
Same here. I've played enough JRPG's over the years to know I should never underestimate a weapon that seems worthless at first. Also, who would ever sell a unique weapon? That's the blasphemy of casuals.
Maybe the Shuja Harmony Loop pendant? Not sure if the stick cycling elements would count as spells being cast or not, but with that pendant...after each spell cast, further spells cast deal temp increased dmg and casting different schools of magic further amps it.
So, I'm curious since the devs said anything that you see an enemy do you can do. After watching this wondering if I wear the whole Kin Ranger set can I do the ice strike and ice slash with the axe?
I’ve played this game 65 hours already and I think it’s a good game. Fun and challenging if you’re a SoulsBorne veteran. I think it’s close to being a great, seems like it’s not vibing with casual gamers, curious to see sales after a few weeks.
Ok yeah you guys are right, the enemy spamming is insane and the challenging stuff feels more cheap than challenging. 100% that’s what I was getting at.
What are you two talking about? Enemy spam? There's a counter to every enemy! You don't just run in and dodge/attack over and over. I had a difficult enemy, switched to a bleed weapon, boom, easy mode for him. Too many enemies? I kite them to an area, and strategically take them out. You don't even have defeat all enemies in some areas, especially when in Umbral, it's pointless. This game is like a puzzle, there's always a way to offset anything that's "annoying." I'm not even a huge fan of the genre, and even I'm enjoying it. The checkpoint system was annoying until I used them strategically. I made a blind run through a level, learning where the checkpoints were, got defeated, ran through again, and put a seed down to where I knew I could get defeated again. Ran into a boss, then respawn at the last seed planted. That was actually fun! And I consider myself a casual player! This is one of the best souls-like I've played.
Dual wield on completely even stats? Then toss in the best ring and amulet suggestions people have suggested down below? Maybe you have to pick the condemned class?
I'll explain, the Pieta + Elianne sword combo is only possible after you get the Odd Stone in Upper Calrath and show it to Pieta. Then, equip both and press the Guard + Heavy buttons at the same time to do the usual dual-wielding combo but with an added AoE/Visual effect. Same goes for the Lightreaper's weapons (the swords, not the daggers as far as i know but might also be possible) the only difference is that you need to complete Paladin Isaac's quest by summoning him against the last Lightreaper encounter. The dual-wielding combo will unleash the fire blade spell like the boss does to you.
Ok i may have figured it out. So if u duel wield with the stick on your off-hand it procs onto your main hand as another in the comment has stated. But if you 2 hand stance your main weapon and it is lvl 10 it will still get the random buffs even though the stick is on your back. So i guess if your build uses say a polearm that u use with both hands, now it will benefit from the buffs
it also works well with fist weapons because when you two hand stance with them you duel wield which gives great attack speed. I had the buffs proc like every other hit. Looks really cool seeing you weapons flashing different colors likes its a rave. But it only works if the weapon is level 10.
yes you still need to wear the set. Also tested it while accompanying a lamp bearer and it seems to not work on their game, might just be host only. @@karnap9905
I actually always used the stick as a second hand weapon while maining the shovel head fists I love meme weapons haha. But I never equipped his clothes. Will do a whole playthrough as *him* now
Id say there is a good chance that a specific combination of all sloots and equipment is needed to make it better. Kinda like the backrooms easter egg in remnant
I knew I should hold on to the stick. Normally i sell off every weapon i wont use but for some reason when i saw stick something said don't sell it. That guy was way too nice and they did him wrong and the developers wouldnt give you a stick thats just a stick. So its just sitting in my inventory ready for me to finish this video and start the quest. I just ran into that guy in his second location about an hour ago.
Only ever sell duplicates in games like these mate. You never know what you might try in the future and some weapons you might get lucky finding because of such low drop rates
There is an amulet that makes staus affect stronger after each change so this stick would be amazing for it if it changes each hit it would get stronger an stronger with each hit
Any idea how long you have to keep petting the dog? I have the +10 stick, full Failed Pilgrim armor set on and have pet the dog for 30min straight. Went to attack basic enemies and there’s no elemental effect. I’ve one handed and two handed it.
@@Axtrudithorize yes it was my first run and I’m pretty new to soulslike 😅 just played Elden ring. But want to start playing all dark souls game in a row :) In my second run I try to collect all weapons 😅
I'm not sure if the attacks of the stick count as "spells cast" but the Shuja harmony hoop makes subsequent spells do increased damage, "casting spells from different schools further amplifies this effect"
Not sure if it has any purpose to this item but dual wielding in the game seems to always add some type of benefit to special weapons . The same npc that gives you the stick also sells you a “pointed stick” later on in the game. Maybe that one has some hidden benefits as well fully upgraded but I’m not wasting my limited upgrade materials to find out lol.
This is my stick build so far.. Weapons: Gilded Buckets +10 (Ativ, Ixon, Velox) Stick +10 (Velox, Ruq, Vaus) Lost Berescu's Catalyst Spells: Orius' Judgement Seismic Slam Barrage of Echoes Adyr's Rage Lucent Beam Armor: Failed Pilgrim set Tincts: Exalted Shuja Harmony Hoop Charred Root Ring of Radiants Preeminence
i think best weapon to use off-hand stick with is Judge cleric's corrupt longsword off-hand sword. The reason being is that Judge corrupt cleric's sword has 4 scalers, so strength, agility, int, radiance and it has 3 damage types, physical, fire, holy. If you get umbral buff, you deal 4 damage types with stick and since Judge cleric's sword has no debuffs, this stick makes your sword have all debuff possibilities. The build is technically is good in NG+ offensively speaking due to 4 scales on your weapon but because you have to use that garbage failed pilgrim set, your basically 1 shot. due to how this build plays, you want just stack damage modifiers as high as possible. I think the way they intended you to play this is to run Princess sting amulet for 25% damage increase, Charred roots to cast all Adyr buffs (Endurence, Rage, Defense) and Adyrgamar ring for 10% damage increase for duel-wielding since your forced to duel wield to make this stick do anything. in total, your get 45% damage for using all these damage buffs. I would recommend using Holy catalyst for Laceration buff which gives your weapon bleed effect. so now you have all 4 damage types, bleed and almost every single status effect in the game.
Just played it on game pass it still has really bad stuttering and random glitches and if your not the host it kags like super crazy the performance is still bad but I made it to the cleric and have had a blast so far but they still need to fix the stutters and stuff
I skipped Path of Devotion because I'm on an Inferno build and he's never moved from Skyrest. I'm at Revelation Depths before Dervla. I just unlocked Berescu's Vestige and I'm going to see if I can catch him up by doing Path now. I'll update in case anyone is in a similar situation. Thanks for the guide. 🙏
Bro, the eye opens up when you pet the dog! Your dread has to fill until the eye goes red thats why it worked for you. Im doing it now, plus 10 stick lol
you dont have to do that to get it to work. just pet the dog wearing the armor and with the stick equipped. whichever weapon you pair the stick with has to be leveled to level 10 as well.
Iirc there are rings and amulets that proc other types of damage when you do a certain type of damage, for instance there is a ring that procs fire damage when you deal poison damage, so if you stack those with the sticks random damage types then you could theoretically do all types of damage types at once with one weapon...worth looking in to
Almost all i assume cause there is frost as a status affect but ive seen 0 way to actually apply frost to your own weapon BESIDES the frost salt. Theres no magic to apply frost to your weapon, i havent found a weapon that applies frost at all. Which is so weird given its a status affect in the game that you can be affected with like all the others and you can only apply it with the salt and not a spell
@@DuskYokaiI farmed two pretty quickly last night and am considering dual wielding them, just not sure what’s optimal. It’s hard to replace pieta’s sword.
@@DuskYokai thats the right handed bringer of stillness. The left hand one has 80 innate frostbite. You can equip either one in either hand so idk why they named them right and left, other than to differentiate. There are also some other weapons in the fief of chilled curse with frostbite status.
Der- IL-ee-UM, not delirium. still, cool find. knew that the Stick would be useful… same with petting that dog. seemed odd that the dog never reacted to pets. also, i guess there are a few weapons that have special effects when paired up too, like the light swords. apparently those aren’t the only ones
Developers just say the stick is the best weapon bc every weapon sounds like you’re whacking things with a stick. My biggest gripe about the game in regards to minor details
Does this still work ? I think I did all the stuff for it, I maxed a stick, and got the armor, pet the dog for a while both in umbral and not just incase but nothing happened to my stick Edit: It does work it just takes me so many hits to get the effects, I was petting the dog for like 2 hours while watching movie and it doesnt seem my 'chances' increased at all
When i started the video, i was "a secret about the stick ? The dog isinvolved ?! Of course it had to be about playing fetch with the dog! How could i not think of this?!" Turns out it is not... I feel sad...
i just have 2 questions 1 does the upgrade/buff last into NG+ so i could do a stick only run? 2 if i have someone else drop me a stick and just upgrade and pet can i dual wield them going into NG+?
I never had him appear in Skyrest. I think because I opened that Door early to suicide run for Bloody Glory. But I have the Vestige at the other end of the run where it looks like he appears next so I will pop over to there to see if he is indeed there for me now.
you dont need to talk to him untill the last place he spawns before the radiant leader boss. so dont freit :) ur fine. i got the stick from my second playthrough in ng+ so you can still do it :)
I did the same thing as you for bloody glory and he was at that vestige but I just got to the nest vestige and he isn't there, what happened for you, did you find him again and were you able to complete his quest?
@@danielcalabrese5769 yes. It took a while for him to move from the memorial. He is at the abbey now. I think it is right before he died. If he is still at the memorial you .ight need to talk to him there more.
When he gave me that stick I had a feeling it must be more than just a simple shitty weapon but I also knew that I wouldn't uncover it's secret alone LOL
