This skatepark at Harrington Park Lake cost $1,140,000 to build and is one of the biggest wastes of money that I've ever seen! How much do you guys think this place should have cost?
I wouldn’t say it’s worth 20k who ever built it needs a serious look over half of it isn’t even skatable and who ever paid that for it more fool them it just looks a utter shite hole 😂
They could have even hired a few professionals to train the skaters in cement work, where I live in Canada if your freelancing for the gov you charge whatever you think is crazy and they accept it, I met two guys who designed and coded our debit machines for the city buses it took them a week and $2000 materials and they charged $250k, then we got a big steel art piece for $100k for one of our traffic circles it was built in a city 12 hours away@@LeonPaxton
For that kind of money and that poor quality, I wouldn’t be surprised if a council person or administrator gave the contract to a friend or family member who billed the city a mill plus but spent nothing and slid them a fat kickback on the low. That’s my conspiracy theory.
It’s fine for a street part because it’s in a public space that’s not an actual skatepark that people go to.. it’s got no coping and is crusty.. he’s also not trying to put a street part out for Anti hero or the monster energy team so go for it Paxton. It’s street enough for us old dogs
Yeah they never think about that when they're creating a "Youth Play Space" They try and incorporate everything into the one are without thinking of how the traffic of that area is going to flow lol
Brother since ive gained 30 pounds skating thunder lights has been a challenge with 54's. Theyre my favorite trucks, but wheelbite is much more frequent now. I prefer the medium height truck, what would you recommend?
Ig you don' t want to change trucks you could try swapping your bushings out for the hard version of Thunder bushings? That would make your trucks tighter and reduce wheel bite for sure man 👌🏼
Right! Parents here in my town see a $30 Razor scooter and the free concrete park in town as a suitable replacement for daycare. Then, it's our responsibility to ensure the safety of unsupervised 6 year olds rolling around in front of everyone without a helmet or single pad. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
There used to be a skatepark in my city for about 3k $, and had a marble ledge, a London gap, a mini ramp, a flat bar and also a bank to wallride. It was built by skaters, who were hired by a city. It was soooo much better than this here. People have to start hiring skaters for building skateparks, because the park in the vid is a mess. Great vid btw
Enjoy your videos, keep up the good work! I'd say they built this on peat or topsoil thats why its sinking. The original road was probably sinking so they turned it into skate park rathet than repairng (pure speculation!!). Its a shame because that place looks really fun for the >40 year old crew....

Looks like the stuff there is super rough, but if they just ran double sided curbs along the edge of the yellow cement in front of the playgrounds it could at least be good for slappy lines through the park.
Yeah the play equipment are usually whatever they decide to charge for, so it could be a big chunk of the change... Reason why no project should ever go without a hand from the community.
Im not sure about those nipple humps either! A new park near my place has an unreal bowl but they've put a hump right in the middle of the flat!!! Why??

That would actually be sick, here's already a few good boulders there that would make a good top deck! A few of us were thinking about drilling a flat bar into the ground there too lol
@@LeonPaxtoneasy done, just paint it bright colours so it "blends in" with the other obstacles and play equipment. I mostly just cruise around the lake and bike paths on my electric board these days.
Such a shame and waste of money, good thing you're calling it out. Seems like they went with a street style plaza but it's to close to an actual street haha. So many cracks and uneven surfaces, looks like our footpaths in Sydney. And they need to stop planting bushes so close to parks, so many seeds and branches get on the way.
Yeah they had a good idea there but they just executed it horribly! Aww man it took me a full 30mins sweeping and cleaning everything so I could actually skate lol
I'm going to start a skatepark building company if they get away with a mill for that I'd build a way better park for half that and pocket the rest haha that's a $1000 park at best 😂
