I was pretty sure this movie is going to "deconstruct toxic masculinity" just from the trailer. Especially after seeing Jodie Comer as the narrator of the story. That told everything I needed to know - her = good, Tom Hardy = bad, this guy Butler that I have no f**kin idea who tf is = the guy who only thanks to Comer turns to the right side before his death and she says it all. Am I right ? :D

I didn't get the deconstructing angle at all from the film. Just a movie about a woman and man falling in and out and in love again. But I agree that Hardy was Hardy, mumbles and all. Butler staring into the camera, smoldering. I have never seen Jodie Comer in anything before, but she was good in this. But I agree her accent was kind of goofy at times. And agree with the ending, like, thats it? Wheres the rest? lol. It felt like the movie could have did a lot more with what it had.

It's funny how you mentioned the narrative voice hurt you from time to time because that instantly made me think of "Birds of Prey..." and how that Harley Quinn narration completely took me out of the movie so I never made it past the 25-minute mark. I know that movie got other types of criticism but I'll never know because that narration was so grating I would've preferred nails on a chalkboard... I haven't seen The Bikeriders yet but it looks skippable.

Spoiler comment!!!: that ending was so disappointing. I think it should've been a legit fight where Johnny wins and the kid pulls out in a kind of spoiled rage way then it's suddenly quick flashes of the past, a slow 50's song playing, and Kathy saying that line about Johnny being the last. You know, something theatrical!!!

This movie is the latest in Hollywood's great lineup of movies that had cool looking trailers yet fell flat, giving us just a bunch of talking about nothing and the typical "Marvel Humor" to deflate any juicy moment in the movie. This movie sucked.

Luckily there was no marvel humor, I just think the movies biggest problem is that it's pretty standard and by the numbers from a filmmamking perspective, they didn't sell me enough on the story
