My reaction to Amandla Stenberg's song about racism and opression! Is she calling out Star Wars fans? #starwars #theacolyte #amandalastenberg Join this channel to get access to perks: / @reelshift
Hahaha, they are the most disrespected community. Especially those young lady. Having consistent work since she was a child getting paid to play pretend is soooooo rough!
That's the thing, people aren't even mad they are more like "yeah that sounds about right" it's more exhausting than anything to constantly have to hear about this bs
I quit watching Disney Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, the MCU and other shows/movies. It's just predictable and boring at this point. This is why I watch mostly thing released before 2010.
i can't understand being a disney fan or a marvel fan, these are not movies, not artists, but companies. moreover, companies that engage in terrible labor abuse.
Dear Disney, FOR THE LOVE OF DISNEY, please STOP releasing more episodes of The Acolyte creating more damage to the Star Wars brand and to your own company. STOP the insanity, halt all streaming of The Acolyte, press the "DELETE" button on this entire series and FIRE Kathleen Kennedy/Leslye Headland/Amandla Stenberg!!! Disney, show some RESPECT to Star Wars fans by canceling The Acolyte DISASTER!
@Anthonydavis65 I got you. Yeah it seems people only feel comfortable when placing others inside of a box, as if nuanced opinions aren't meant to exist
Most Millennials can it's the late Millennials which were treated like the boy in the bubble and can't take reality. I was born in 84 and i'm a Millennial. I don't know a single person I grew up with and went to school with who acts like these people.
I'm sure that he'll have a word with her about the illogical, lost lyrics of her song. She should be happy and grateful that she's in possibly the biggest movie/tv franchise. Blaming others because they don't like the show and using the race card.
Thank you, Sir. I agree. And, I've never heard her song, and don't intend to. I will watch the rest of The Acolyte, because I have to see how this shit ends, so I can correctly evaluate it, and then keep it out of my long-term memory bank. Hopefully, this marks the end of The Kennedy Era. Watch: Skeleton Crew's PR and content is going to be an entirely different viewing experience. Looking forward to it. May The Force Be With You.
I checked out after this last trilogy. Then...then I tried to watch the obi- wan thing, so I am more then likely done with SW. I mean what's the point? Let it die.
At the end of the day the only star wars stuff I actually rewatch is the original trilogy, revenge of the sith, and sometimes rogue one. I feel like so much stuff, If not objectively terrible, has been pointless filler that doesn't provide any deep or moving message to come back for. People say they love these shows now but I guarantee almost none of them will bother rewatching it years from now, it's all just filler and will be forgotten.
WTF!? The tweet you showed at minute 3:28 reads "Why does he keep watching?😭" After watching your video, I went to watch Jeremy's video, the dude opens by explaining why he's watching!!! "I don't have to watch The Acolite, but you folks like hearing me talking about it, so..." Tobi(Dua Lipa era remains smh) didn't even watch Jeremi's video, she just read the title and posted the comment. That person "Tobi" needs to be shipped to Antartica to stop her from using social media.
Why is the world like this? In the words of Walter Sobchak from the Big Lebowski Has the whole world gone crazy?! I don’t mean any bad will towards anyone it’s just getting a bit tiresome on both sides.
Out of context or not, you can't dismissed the fact that she said such a thing. Imagine if a white straight dude says that about 'making black people cry' or whatever. Exactly, society would react a lot differently.
Also The context doesn't matter when you consider she is apart of the most divisive franchise in the world right now, so she knew damn well this was going to make things worse. It's all very intentional.
I apologize and mean this with the utmost respect Grifter Joe... Steve Gutenberg is an American Icon... Salt of the Earth... An 80s icon... You may want rethink your stance with regards to him. For Police Academy's sake. Probably low blood sugar. Almost lunch time. 😉🍔🥤
All the drama around this show just cements the fact that media literacy is dead. Canon vs non-canon, chronically online twitter beefs, bad takes, stoking the fire with veiled comments, people hating just to hate, and yes, some of the -isms. People rely too much on the opinions of others. They create and exist in these echo chambers of solitary thought. My side is right and yours is wrong, blah blah. As someone who actually thinks, its painful to hear all the faux discourse that people follow like a religion. Grifter Joe is right, people are grift in anyway they can for content and clicks. Thats the way to grow on social media.
Right as for the actress Amandla Stenberg I think she should have been advised not say anything, however doing my research she may of had a right of reply based on the fact as you pointed out RS, about the other project in that old clip, you failed to mention it's name (avoided)? She was talking about her 2018 movie The Hate U Give! She was replying to the context of the clip, which still had nothing to do with the history erasing piece of crap that is Star Wars: The Acolyte. She rambles on about why black people were crying over her movie, and why white people were crying, because they saw black people as people from their experience from watching the movie.
By creating a new song and dance with the words Make White People Cry she no longer has any sympathy from anyone from what she said years ago out of context. Bad move, she is making the fans more mad. Although her and the director chuckling/joking over their goal of making Star Wars more gay, including R2D2 is gay certainly does not help. The girl has no idea how to remain likeable in the general public as she is an activist driving away an audience.
I think that's what it comes down to honestly, it makes her unlikeable in the eyes of people who already had issues with the Acolyte that had nothing to do with her, like i said throwing gas on a raging fire
Stop engagement and stop talking about star wars content that's the only to hit them where it hurts and that's coming from someone working in Lucas film. The more you guys talk about it Lucasfilm there actually Winning. It's not about views to Lucas film it's about engagement and trending even if its trending bad it's about getting the message out.
So where is this so called proof that this music video was aimed at Critics of that piece of crap The Acolyte! Again she was replying to the racial abuse she was getting from the original clip of her interview of her 2018 movie?
The original clip is unrelated to the song, as I stated in the beginning of the video, I only showed that as an example of looking at things from both sides and showcasing how her words have been manipulated in the past. The problem with the song is we don't really know the context, she supposedly experienced racism but it's not really stated how... And in most cases everything is considered "racism" in modern society so it's a bit difficult to take a song like this serious when she gave zero examples & the fact that people being critical is considered racism by some it's difficult to decipher what's legit here
@@REELSHIFT I'm sorry my friend but in context you are wrong on this one, RU-vidrs have been using her song to say she is being racist, which the song has nothing to do with racism on white people in the first place.
@@REELSHIFT Now I've come to relies over the years that RU-vidrs over the years that I know (let's get that straight), only care about racism that is against white people, if it is true that's fair enough, however most of the time it's out of context from them.
@@REELSHIFT So let me get back to the interview 2018, this context, why because it is link to the song first and foremost, my friend (you are still my guy even if we disagree, you might not feel the same way time will tell).
@@REELSHIFT She was getting flooded with what she describe as intolerable racism, of course some out of the 99% of humanity just skip what she saying and said she is victim and her video is as bad as The Acolyte. So let me get this straight racial abuse is OK, and she replied with no violence and some how it's her fault. It's a serious song for her, I don't care for it however, I believe in standing up for yourself.
There's nothing in this video to suggest I'm trying to be both, unless you were hearing what you want to hear as a way of being dismissive. Im a critic, my fandom has all but evaporated 🤷♂️
I thought you were going to specifically criticize what she took as feeling racially attacked by Star Wars fans... But, you gave nothing... How do you know what she experienced... It clearly sounds like she got a lot of racist hate coming from many Star Wars fans... And she spoke about it honestly... Even at the risk of alienating her fan base... And potentially losing a lot of money.... Good for her...
The problem is that everything is considered "racist" now so in essence she gave "nothing"... I didn't see her giving examples either... if you got NOTHING out of this video than you weren't paying attention or you are just looking for someone to tell you what you want to hear 🤷♂️
@@REELSHIFT What you should have said is, I really don't know her situation, because she didn't give examples, so we will use this situation as a jumping off point to a conversation... Since you didn't do that, I basically got nothing from this video, because most of it was you commenting on something you don't know anything about...
