It's amazing how many actors went from small parts in the bill to well known dramas but very few main actors from the bill got anything when it finished.
although the show by this time wasn't any way soapy, this was probably the first major crime story(the canley fields child murders) as it took place over multiple episodes with a second victim a few episodes later.
Because Conway basically told him he'd be having a rendezvous with another cop in a public toilet, especially in an area of the borough like Canley Fields, lol.
It was 1990. Mobiles were very expensive, large and extremely basic back then. Pretty much everybody didn't have one. It wasn't until the 00's that ownership of smaller and more sophisticated mobile phones gradually became commonplace.
Mobile phones were not a regular item at the time when this episode was first aired. Around 1989-90 they were like a car battery with a corded handset attached...! Time has fair marched on since then...!!
