Small continuity issue at 16:45, Mike Dashwood says he’s been at Sun Hill for 5 years but he was at Sun Hill since the beginning back in 1984. Thus since this episode was recorded/based in 1991, this would make it 7 years that he’s been a DC at Sun Hill
Mike didn’t deserve that, just because he was making his snout pay for his own stupidity. Mike Dashwood was one of the most straight detectives that Sun Hill ever had.
Dashwood should tell the lawyer to prove he's lying or shut up. Dashwood is acting very guilty and should tell the superintend that he had told his snoot that he would not interfere with his being charge and the complaint was in revenge.

Series 8 - "Part of The Furniture" which originally aired in July 1992. The character did come back for guest appearances. Twice in December 1992 ("Finders Keepers" & "Return Match") and finally in April 1996 in the episode "Going For A Song" in which Dashwood was now a Detective Sergeant
