just realized that I never really explained what breakfasting is and it's not a super well known thing, so here is a brief explanation to those of you who may be confused: items in Isaac come in a bunch of different "pools" of items of varying sizes, sorted into groups, like "items that you see in shops" vs. "items you see in devil/angel rooms" vs. "treasure room items", stuff like that. when you pick up an item, the game basically puts a marker on that item that tells the rest of the game to never spawn that item again, as a lot of items when doubled are super broken(even though there are still ways to obtain duplicate items). when the game tries to spawn an item from a pool that has been entirely blacklisted by collecting everything in it, it will spawn a Breakfast instead, which is an item that does nothing to change the visuals of your character and its only effect is that it adds a heart container, which has a cap of a certain number of hearts. I guess they chose this specific, boring item so that you can't just get something infinitely broken whenever you get infinite items through a game break. typically, game breaks in greed mode are usually greatly affected by getting Chaos, which appears in the greed shop item pool, and then mixes all the item pools, which then gives you access to MissingNo, which rerolls every item on your character whenever you go down a floor. this means if you have somewhere around or above 200 items already, it'll instantly blacklist 200 items from the run every floor you go down, which can make you breakfast really quickly. you do keep smelted/gulped trinket effects and transformations, though, which is typically still enough to carry you through the rest of the run, especially with 12 heart containers. don't forget to join in for the next video, in which both breakfasting and the heart container limit are removed :)
