The Biology Of The MISUNDERSTOOD Regent Species Explained

As Humans do what Humans always do, try and reach out into the stars to see if anyone else is out there, this entire ideology may prove extremely dangerous to our existence. As we found a goldilock planet in the distance, we immediately beamed a communication about its planets extended warranty every 24 hours for years. Eventually, something would speed its way towards our planet, basically telling us to shut up. But what was this species and why may their intentions be misunderstood? Also what about their biology? Lets discuss in todays episode over Battleship!

It always seemed to me like the aliens were dealing with their own internal issues during their time on Earth. Sometimes they're hyperagressive, taking out nearby military equipment and infrastructure, othertimes they're TRYING to handle things peacefully. It feels almost like it was originally a investigative mission, but when one of the ships was destroyed on entry, and the others were VERY quickly responded to with military vessels, civilian/non-combat aliens disagreed on the approach with the military/combat aliens. So depending on the ship, sometimes the talkers were in charge, and sometimes the grunts were in charge. Combine this with the language barrier and the fact that shots had been exchanged, and you have a recipe for labeling it an attack when it could just be grunts trying to establish a safe zone before phoning home for further instructions. IE "We had a ship blow up on entry, destroyed local miilitary and civlilan infrastructure, and got into multiple firefights with local water vessels. Please advise." "You did fucking WHAT?!"

form what the background says the ship that was destroyed was the command ship so the remaining ship where the grunt/escort vessels now without commander or even diplomatic officers... just TRYING to do something resulting in there absolute fucking mess of an operation.

@@raghnall847 Hahahahahahaha....yeah. Keyword being "supposed to do". Most of the time whoever is in charge will aggressively carve out a perimeter, then hunker down and wait for instructions. Then if they think they can chase off surrounding inhabitants, they will if they're fighting back (or if the commander just feels angry). A large ratio of the time, grunts on the ground won't be following protocol. Usually because their commander has been in hotzones before and knows protocol gets you killed, and the top brass will generally cover for them.

I feel the Regents were not hostile initially to Humanity as a whole, and that first contact was completely botched likely due to both sides mis-interpreting intentions. Humanity believing they were hostile from the onset when the Regents blew there version of a horn and the regents opening fire when they should have continued to remain passive indicating to human vessels that they meant no initial harm. They also had direct rules of warfare and engagement. They also had conduct and recognized non-hostiles or non threats. That's important. Also I'm pretty sure the recon group had survivors that survived the human attack and humanity has access to regent technology now. Although they were quite advanced, they don't seem to far off from human technological advancement that reverse engineering is impossible. The Shield system would be the vital tech and the drone remote tech along with the power armor. Sure there was some survivors with technical knowledge running around. If a 2nd movie ever was made they should try to have a 2nd contact with the regents again but this time with a battlefleet but non-aggressive showing they indeed are not trying to take over earth and requesting help as the actual threat follows them forcing Terran forces to side with the Regents as everything comes bearing down on top of them. Humanity during that time having mastered a little bit of the regent tech to create something strong enough to help fight back. Of course that's just a hopeful wish :p
@tbush6657
@tbush6657 3 месяца назад
My post film theory is that the 5% who did survive are taken prisoner but from their perspective, they're just slightly perturbed scientists who are like "dammit! First our comm ship and then you blow up your own communications! Now how are we gonna call home to report our findings! They are gonna come looking eventually." Eventually the prisoners and humanity are able to communicate and clear up the misunderstanding, ally themselves, and help share tech and repair the alien comm devices to call home and let them know we're friendly but initially did kill 95% of the Regents on first contact due to a miscommunication, and the Regents are like "Yeah we definitely want these inferior underdeveloped monkeys on our side if they could do that to us with kinetic sticks and stones. Screw being refugees, let's arm them and turn the tide of our war of extinction"

@@tbush6657 You pointed out a very important bit of info. of the survivors mentioning someone is going to come looking. Through the entire film of Battleship, the Regent soldiers and crews including technicians (scientist) showed empathy, only attacking hostile human combatants and allowing civilians to leave or even trying to calm down a situation to avoid a conflict, and showed actual acts of heroism such as rescuing the captured regent on the ship. Sure you had the occasional one do something different but considering the situation its no surprise a couple had enough. Yeah if these guys didn't report in or reported a incident such as the collision before entering Earths atmosphere its very likely someone is at the fleet, colony or homeworld is going to be like. Oh crap they got into trouble, should we send help? Send a rescue ship or send a larger ship to help in rescuing them if they are indeed in alien custody. The only other species in films that showed that kind of empathy but literally were running on fumes was the landsharks from Battle Los Angeles. More technologically inferior and far more brutal than the regents and were pretty much invading and killing anything in sight but it was out of sheer desperation and through the film we see the landsharks show acts of heroism and attempts to save their fellow soldiers that fell to human soldiers. Unlike the Regents the landsharks was on a one way trip do or die situation.

I think they kinda had the same mentality as Star Trek's Borg in that they don't attack unless you're perceived as a threat. Even walking around with weapons, they'll leave you alone until you start shooting. However, they will still destroy vital infrastructure like highways and military bases. It could also be that they didn't know what collided with their communications satellite and assumed that humans shot first, so while their intentions are relatively peaceful, they're already thinking that human soldiers are a threat

These are some form of refugees who might even not be fully in control of the ships (Hence hitting debris upon entering the atmosphere, and why it took so long to raise the shield). For all we know they might be mostly civilians with just some military. And we don't even know for sure that they were trying to send a message out, they might have been trying to send a message across earth telling us "hey, we're not hostile". Like you say they almost never initiate violence and seem to be just defending themselves. Although they certainly could have taken a less hostile looking approach to communication, so they're far from blameless

He is an actual amputee who lost both legs to an IED in Baghdad in 2007, and instead of accepting a medical discharge, he chose to stay on active duty where he spent two years as the head of the Army Wounded Warrior Program and was later selected to command Fort Belvoir becoming the first Wounded Warrior to ever command an Army installation. An advanced species that goes out of their way to not harm and sometimes preserve other species. They are anathema to the dark forest.
@yadakakadu

@@randallbesch2424 How does a species that goes against the mentality prescribed by the theory support the theory? The nox went out of their way to preserve other intelligent species they were aware of. The dark forest theory states that every civilization is hunted by everyone else that are aware of them. The vastness of space and time ensures that eventually a sufficiently advanced civilization emerges that can defend itself but doesn't want to kill everyone.

I absolutely love this movie for how it presents the aliens. Them having similar military protocols, codes of conduct, as well as evolutionary traits to humans makes them so much more believable than many other movie aliens, unlike for example the architects from prometheus, who outfitted their bioweapons research and testing facility wity large, ominous murals on their walls...

It feels like they had a: "don't piss off the locals too much" approach. Using a warning shot first before using more leathal weaponry, getting their guy back without killing everyone around and most importantly, not attacking the offspring when given a chance. The more agressive approach on the satelite base seems more like a: we need this at any cost, type of situation. Also, considering they where initially taken out by debris in our orbit, they themselves did not know how to respond. All in all, I thought this is mostly a first contact gone horribly wrong. The diplomatic meetings afterward must have been hella awkward.

Some theories about why the aliens attacked some humans but not others. 1. The child playing baseball was recognized as an organic lifeform but they did not have enough information on humans yet to determine if the child was a threat. 2. The child playing baseball was similar enough in composition to the aliens that the alien visor/Tech mistakenly categorized the child as an ally/alien. 3. The aliens have a 'Predator' (movie franchise) mentality that they don't engage civilians and only target combatents.

There is a TV show called Surface that aired from 2005-2006. Unfortunately there's only one season of it, but I think there is enough information in that season that you could make a video about the main creature from the show. I find the concepts in the show fascinating and I thought it would be something right up Roanoke's ally.

Glad to see that you're of the view that this was more of a first contact mission and less of an invasion force. Switch the species around and it would be a movie about humans investigating an alien signal. A communication vessel veers off course and crashes, thus stranding the remaining humans, leaving them unable to contact earth. They try to communicate with the aliens, but there's a breakdown in communication and its mistaken for an attack/threat. The humans would then be forced to defend themselves and try to use local tech as an alternative method to contact home. With their ships and ground crews constantly being attacked by the aliens, it will eventually become an us or them scenario. At no point would we consider ourselves to be the bad guys. We would also fully understand the need for the first contact teams to come strapped as a preventative measure.

I also agree that it seems like the aliens weren't going full response, they were clearly attacking military and infrastructure, but they also clearly DIDN'T attack at times, like when they go back to pick up the drowning sailors. I like to think that at one point the script had moments that cut to the alien ship and we see argument in alien, with no subtitles, and a change in tactics overall. Like maybe a diplomatic choice was to show mercy and let the military ship that's VERY close to you leave as long as it doesn't try to shoot, then a more military response to go take the transmit center, as killing the cops seems to be more unrealistically aggressive. Stuff like that with a more interpretive segue via aliens arguing in space French. A botched first contact seems like a better movie than a tragically bad invasion.

They didn't miss the WARNING SHOT. It's sent across the bow to ensure the other ship knows it was close, but on purpose, only close. And the USS Missouri was used during the gulf War. It was also renovated at least in 2009. The US museum ships is one of the largest navy in the world, and fully functional.

last I checked officer school (OCS) is 12-13 weeks long and then you have to go to your actual occupational school for more training. The additional schooling could last between 2 month to 4 years depending on your field. Now seeing as he was a lieutenant, he need at least 2-3 years time in grade as a lieutenant junior to get promoted. Its impossible to get O-3 even with meritorious promotions in less than a year. Also, who in their right mind would fight someone with 3 ranks on you in the military? An O-3 picking a fight with an O-6 is crazy. You are basically picking a fight with your judge, jury and executioner. The amount of pull an O-6 has in the military is huge, literally one word and you will never be promoted so long as you are under their command. A sentence and you can end up picking up trash the entire time you are in the military. And if you piss them off good enough you get demoted, pick up trash the entire time they are your commanding officer and then they dishonorably discharge you out of the military to give you 1 last FU.
