Growing corms (swollen underground plant stems that can be propagated to grow new plants) from Alocasias is like unlocking a new level of plant parenthood. A have a few more corms from variegated mother plants that I’m eagerly forgetting about and not checking on every 10 minutes or so (that I’ll also be sharing).
If you have an Alocasia, during your next repot, you can check for corms and then spend the next 6-8 weeks of your life in a staring contest with your propagation. I’ve grown corms in water, moss, and aquatic soil like Fluval, and the rate of growth has all varied so try experimenting different substrates and see what works best for your growing conditions!
