All Sports WFAN Radio was launched on July 1, 1987, taking over the 1050 khz frequency from country music WHN. This clip, taken from WCBS-TV, Channel 2 in New York explains the changes of both WHN to WFAN and also the conversion of WYNY 97.1 FM from an adult-contemporary format to country. Major changes happened to both stations the following year after Emmis Communications bought WNBC 660 and migrated WFAN there and also as part of the same deal moving WYNY from 97.1 to 103.5. This clip was recorded off air from Hazlet, NJ (Monmouth County).
