I saw these guys recently and let me tell you, they are some of the nicest and polite people. As they were packing up (Chibi was elsewhere), they took the time to shake my hand/hug me, formally introduce themselves, ask me what my name is as well as how the show was. Not to mention during their performance you can tell that they were having a great time and they were interacting with the audience, Chibi making silly faces sometimes and joking in between songs. They are incredible and one of the very few genuine musicians/bands out there.
Yes. I had the same experience. I chatted with Chibi, Rainbow, and Nate after a show in Louisville KY and they were super friendly and cool. Had a very pleasant conversation with Chibi about her book, Boring Girls which I had read. She gave me a hug and was very warm and humble. They are one classy band. What a fantastic night!
They sure are! I saw them at The Masquerade back in 2014??, and they were the nicest people I've ever met. Incredibly down to Earth. Took the time to talk with me and I did not feel like they were superficial at all.
Absolutely ! This band is so fucking good because all of their songs are great and i really love them . It’s already been 3 weeks i discovered this band and i still can’t believe everything i heard about them so far . The Birthday Massacre is definitely the best band in the world . Such a shame they are not known worldwide
Rhim is an awesome drummer and a good guy. He didn't leave TBM. He had a baby with his wife. Thats why he wasn't on tour with them last time. He did not quit or the bassist.
I agree. Such good music. Each song has a feeling. Every time they come to our state we go and I am always surprised by the small crowd. I am waiting for the day it gets bigger.
One of the most underrated bands of all time, man. They deserve so much more recognition. I love the way their songs catch your emotional. So beautiful!
Being a fan of TBM feels like being a member of some sort of secret society, I swear.... I don't think I've ever met another person in the wild who was a fan or even knew who they were, which is a shame because this band has had me absolutely spellbound for over 20 years.
I feel you on that. At work, I met this really cool chick who listened to darker stuff like me. We had a vibe going for awhile but then she had to f things up by taking things too seriously and not having much of a sense of humor. Made sense that she only listened to darker stuff whereas I love different genres of music.
Blue was playing at a nightclub i attended with my now current fiancee. It was our first date. I asked if she wanted to dance she said "sure." We got on this small platform and as the the red lights shined turning the mist and smoke pure red. The intro to blue starts playing and we danced the entire song as if it was a slow song. That moment i knew i'd marry her. Its been 6 years. Thank you Birthday Massacre for a having a part in my future.
Those people will never know how much we love them. They saved my life since 2007 for not commit my suicide. I wish i could hugs them so hard in my arms for saying how important they are. They are the most amazing music group ever created. May God bless them all.
TheScareCrow08... They saved my life too in 2005, i hope i get to tell them that one day too, i love these guys so much! For me the greatest and most under-rated band in the world.
I can totally relate... I heard them maybe a month ago. Someone put a song on and can you believe it, said it was a guilty pleasure!! I straight away shazammed the song (it was "happy birthday") and listened to them when I got home. And I thought the exact same thing! I was amazed and so happy to find they were still a band and had been releasing music consistently their whole career. And this has all happened at a time in my life where I have started to feel jaded with music. Like i cant find anything I like and am disinterested in a lot of the music I loved as a child/teenager. Very refreshing music indeed.
Caught up in the waves The death of the day Sing like sirens in shadows As blue turns to gray In youth and decay Turning oceans to shallows Lying lonely One is only Only one Dying slowly One is only Only one Like smoke on the mirror Under the pier Some say it doesn't matter Crystal is clear Closer than near As we climb Jacob's ladder Lying lonely One is only Only one Dying slowly One is only Only one Lying lonely One is only Only one Dying slowly One is only Only one
@@anSealgair The dream in which Jacob had about a ladder that served as a conduit to the supernatural world where God exists predates biblical accounts. It sets the proximity of 'The Heavens' as 'above' us mere humans - in the sky. As with any arcane human-concieved religion, these observations were not particularly well-informed from a scientific standpoint. Jacob and his somniferous ladder could not comprehend the possibility of a multidimensional heaven that could not be reached via ladder. To wit, I think TBM believes this as well and employs that lyric in jest.
These guys have been my absolute favorite band since about 2005. Every album they release is like taking a big gulp of cold water. I hear the first few notes of the first song and close my eyes and think "Yep. It's The Birthday Massacre" because EVERY album feels so perfectly them. They never lose their original sound, and just keep getting better and better. I love you guys to death.
The band whose songs made me think very hard about the kind of life I wanted that I was losing at the time, but the inevitability of change as a universal constant and the need to find beauty and comfort in the darkness, and the endings. Thank you TBM
Guys you don't have an idea of HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU, you are my favorite band since I'm 12 and I'm so happy you exist and still keep sharing us your beautiful, powerful and chilling music, you are my everything :) and, I mean, I have a lot of bands that I love but you are really so special for me and I bet that all your fans feel the same! Maybe we aren't a big "fandom" or something like with other bands, but we are very proud of you and we admire you, guys. I hope in the next years we have another wonderful and magical album like "under your spell" was, because WE ARE ALL UNDER YOUR SPELL! :) I LOOOOOOVE THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE
You guys probably don't remember your little show you had at La Zona Rosa here in Austin TX all those years ago, but I was one minute away from ending it all after that show I had been dragged out to against my will with some friends. I bumped into you guys after the show and one of you clocked me for what I was going to do somehow and we had a chat. Thank you, thank you for being human, and thank you for supporting even just one random person from a show you met all those years ago. I've fallen in love with the dark whimsy and isekai aspects of your performances, the bewitching vocals, and seeing you guys grow! (Which I would't have gotten to do otherwise...) So yeah! Thank you guys.So much.
There hasn't been another band to do such melodies and harmonies in this fashion since "The Cure". I truly hope I get to see them live one day. Still kicking myself for not seeing them the one time I had the chance due to a stupid choice I made. Stay true to your sound guys, and making great music. I love your sound very much. Much love and respect.
Corona helped me find this band again. Have alot of time on my hand and i remembered and then really craved for kill the lights, now im rewatching all the songs and remember all the good times i had with this awesome band
Absolutely one of the most wonderful ethereal tear provoking song ever I listen to it all the time alll the time straight up this is nothing short of a masterpiece in my mind I love this band I really do. Song still hits after all this time😢
Man...remember being an edgy 17 year old goth kid and stumbling upon these people on vampire freaks... damn, so many years passed and so many fond memories come to my mind,...
I remember listening to this album when it came out in 2017. My grandma was on the inevitable verge of death. It was so hard for me seeing her miserable in her hospice stage, and Under Your Spell was really the one thing that helped me cope through it all. I listened to this very song on the drive from her funeral mass. It still sticks with me 5 years later. I love you, Grandma. And thank you, TBM. I hope to see you guys live one day. 💜
@bloop736 Whut? I was just saying how this album and TBM got me through a hard time of losing someone valuable in my life. Guess you never lost a loved one before. Also, I’m not a girl, but go off on your sexism, buddy.
Actually went into the bathroom at work to watch this, I dont care what anyone says they cant produce something i dont like, just got into them last year too. Saw them in NYC this year, next time i will do a meet and greet and probably pass out from excitement :)
I have a confession to make. I am a HUGE old school listener like AC/DC, I have all of their albums, and that is what I try to play on my guitars. But since discovering your guy's a year or so back on Pandora, I own all of your MP3 albums now, and they have pretty much been on constant play in my FJ Cruiser on my stereo. Chibi, you are perhaps my favorite female singer too. Your voice can go from high to low, very amazing. Thanks for releasing a new video!
I’m glad new people are finding this awesome band ! I found them last year around July and since then i can’t stop thinking about how good this band is. They’re just out of this world
Found this band by accident about 6 months ago. Could literally throw every other music Ive ever liked straight into the bin and just have this instead.
How do you even write such a song? It’s like something you felt in your heart but could never express. And then there it is… That opening synth is just shattering. Like every sad/hopeful/wistful pang you ever had whist feeling lonely. All poured out in a few moments.
Ok guys, a lot of you are mad because they don't make the cinematic stuff anymore. I do not speak on behalf of the band, however, almost ever member has a job other than tbm because they are not making enough for the band to be full time, there was only one period where they could do that and due to illegal downloading, and the high cost of putting an album together let alone marketing and all that crap ruined it. Don't be mad at them for these slower performance videos, be mad that this amazing band can't put out their usual theatrics for the simple fact that the industry sucks balls and people have a sense of entitlement. To the members of TBM, thank you for making a down to earth video in the venue that I had the best concert experience in. (Chibi dedicated a song to me for my written note 'proud to be a boring girl' and rainbow gave me a stage prop that unfortunately cost a lot of money.) You are an amazingly talented band and I am sorry that people are criticizing you. Hopefully next time they can volunteer their obvious video making expertise in the next one you decide to do. Sincerely, Jessica (aka horse head girl & boat cruise girl)
So glad someone is talking some sense. I can't stand seeing fans moan about smaller budget videos or even a change in a bands sounds. They're people and people constantly change and want different things. But again, well said. It really bothered me that a great song with a really nice personal performance video was getting so much shit.
I agree, but it's not the industry that sucks, it's the fans who don't support the band financially and moan how something they got for free isn't good enough for them.
Not reading any more comments after this, I've read some and that's it. Yours and the replies were the best Jessica. Feel strongly about a band? Support them and stand by them instead of treating them as throwaways. Files on your phone from torrents are not support.
So true. I have never heard a song of theirs and said oh I don’t like this one. The opposite in fact after listening to a few songs I bought every album of theirs.
One of the best bands today. musically they are just perfect every note verse like the song you spend the day thinking "when i get home i want a break and i heard Birthday massacre"
This song gives me Blade Runner 2049 vibes. It brings me back to the rainy novemberday as I saw the movie and it brings me back to that day just 8 weeks later where I had to put to sleep my beloved petrat 💔😢. It still makes me sad, but in a good way
After being one of the bands I loved when I was younger, then got forgotten, 3 hours of google searching and I'm back. My mom is in a hospice dying of cancer due to a lack of diagnosis because of covid shutting down the hospitals last year. Only 42. This kind of music helps me relax and work through the emotions, so thank you!
Been a fan of this genre of music for decades and decades and only discovered this band in January 2022. I'll tell you now, much like I am today, if I knew this band existed back when I was in the Army, you bet their music would have been blasted though the barracks.
They are not only nice people. ( I met them after concert, got conversation as everybody sad). But they're music so complex, unique, melodic and beautiful! They are very talented people and completely underestimated ! I wish them all the best and they are one the Best Canadian Band Ever!!! Thank you Birthday Massacre!!!! Love you!!!
I simply do not have the language skill to express how good and interesting and mesmerizing your lyrics are. And in the effort to express love in an original and different way to all the worn out tropes. I can only applaud you👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I cannot get enough of this band!! I wish I knew about them before I turned 52yrs..don't get me wrong I enjoy them now but I would have been in the bars enjoying them big time!! Dancing!! Ya know..Love Rainbows energy and Chibi!! You guys are awesome!!!
Been listening to your music since "Walking with Strangers" and absolutely in love with your style, there is nothing else like it out there. Enchanting, mystifying, it transports me to another world. Every album you put out just gets more and more melodic and beautiful than the last, it's simply amazing. THANK YOU!
Я удивляюсь над тем, что вы настолько талантливая группа, люблю вас вы супер😃, почему то мало популярные. Первый раз услышал вашу песенку “Looking glass" не помню, но время летит, я так думаю в 2006 вас услышал.
Ive been a TBM fan since their first album came out. I've met all of the band members and Ive hugged & talked to Chibi aka Sarah. Ive talked to Rhim and a little with Owen. This band saved my life too. Great band, fabulous people and IMO this band never got the recognition it truly deserves. TBM Forever 💜🖤💜
*Love Chibi.* Great song. The video reminds me of playing for bands in empty clubs late into the night infront of 3-4 of our friends back in my youth. Good times.
