NOLA got hit with a bad deal in terms of weather, and the area around it has never been a major racing hub. I don't think there's much they could do to fix it. SRO for example doesn't get massive crowds but they do race and have success. If NOLA could get a 2nd chance, I'd be interested in it, because there is potential for it to be good if given the right place.
@danielhenderson8316

They would have to put in a much more impressive drainage system for the possibility of that working out.

Considering just how bad the weather had been for about 6-10 days in a row leading up to the bad weather on raceday, I’m surprised there’s as many people left in the stands as there were. I wasn’t able to attend, but my dad and uncle went to the race, and from the huge amount of rainfall we had just had the entire area a soggy marshland of mud everywhere.

Back in the times when Penske, Andretti and Ganassi comprised nearly half the field and we had stellar names like Gabby Chaves, Luca Filippi, Francesco Dracone, Stefano Coletti and Carlos Huertas on the grid (Being fair to Huertas, he did win a race...)

@@nhailstone They might have had decent results in GP2, but their IndyCar careers have nothing special to write home about: Filippi was 21st in the standings in 2015 (with 1 podium!), while Coletti was 19th.

@@victorleoncio1079 i think that filippi’s main issue was that he kept crashing, he was often on for a good result prior to that. But it didn’t really work for him in fe either. Coletti was always a bit inconsistent. I’d rate them both a fair bit higher than dracone and huertas though.

@@Coolbreeze0988 being a NASCAR fan, it’s either go to Talladega or go to Texas. Given the reputation of Texas, you don’t really wanna do that. The racing is garbage. Going to Talladega, I’d definitely consider, but I’m honestly not a fan of superspeedway racing, especially live. You’re just watching on the Jumbotron for the majority of the race. So, you either go to Homestead Miami or Bristol, TN or Nashville or Atlanta, and considering they recently changed the configuration of Atlanta from the worn surface that put on INCREDIBLE races, you now have a bland mini-Daytona. Of course, traveling to any of those tracks, you now also have to worry about cost of transportation, food, and housing. Ive been saying FOREVER we need more racing closer to us.

It’s a shame that the event couldn’t get more legs to grow. There needs to be more early season races after St Pete, but limited on road course tracks in the southern hemisphere that could bridge the gap after st Pete that aren’t in Florida. I believe St Pete in 2015 also had a lot of issues with guys bouncing off each other left and right, scattering debris everywhere from the excessive body kits they used back then. I wonder how w/ current day aero on the cars, a more talented field w/ less idiots at the back, and a dry track would do.

My brother and I were there for the race. Once the cars out of contention started putting on slicks, all hell broke loose! There was only one dry line and once the cars with slicks started catching up, there was no where to pass except in the wet areas. Yellow flags for several laps then racing for 1-2 laps and more wrecks. There were more laps under yellow than green. One of the pit crew got his leg broken because the car coming in hit a wet patch and went sideways. Horrible race!! All the other races in different classes were cancelled that Sunday, leading to a less than exciting weekend for everyone!

I talked to a photographer at Road America last weekend that was at the NOLA race. They talked about how the facility was a nightmare. There was no perimeter fencing on the backside of the property and they had cows from a nearby farm wonder out into the grassy area by the track. Also, photo access for on-track action was limited because the fencing used by the track was owned by the local town and the mayor said that if anyone cut any photo holes, as normally found at other tracks, in "his" fence they'd be arrested.
