I was going to point out 240/230 is possible if you quickly give both the Harp *and* the Lute to the king of the fairy folk, but I see you already knew that :)
Game is cool, although I do wish that the other characters Taran encountered in the film also accompanied you instead of just only appearing for a minute or two before escaping, and then just appearing at the end.
There is alternative ways to play this game. I think you can decide to jump into the cauldron yourself, if you have given Gurgi something to eat, he will jump for you instead. And then it will be possible to trade the cauldron for Gurgis resurrection at the end... There is also a way to jump to the island with the witches. It is really difficult and you need to time the jumps perfectly to jump over some rocks to get to the island. The walktrough also leaves out some rooms, like the throne room were the horned king will talk to some of his lackeys and some text options but nonetheless overall a nice walkthrough.
No... I believe in this Sierra game all the actions are controlled through the use of the function keys on the top of the keyboard. So basically if you want to throw something, you just select if from the inventory to highlight it and then switch out and use the throw action key or something to that effect. Same with talking. just walk up to the person and press the key to talk. You don't see that being done in the video recording because of course the keyboard keys aren't being shown as they play.
Jesse is correct. The Black Cauldron was unique among early Sierra games in that it didn't use a text parser - it was designed for children, so the interface was simplified through just the use of the function keys.
