To the person suggesting that the recording of #191 listed in the November 1, 1894 list of [Berliner] Plates in Stock (and also listed in the January 1895 List of [Berliner] plates implying that the video heard on this RU-vid is that of 1894 - - by means of correction, I want to call attention to a few overlooked? details. Number 1: both Berliner Plate lists list 191 under Barytone, not tenor (Gaskin was a tenor). #2: Paul Charosh's Berliner disc records discography, revised edition 2012 lists 3 different discs labeled 191 - all three discs are listed as 191 and all have no suffix letter [the lists make no attempt to list the suffix letters]. The first two listed are both sung by baritone voices: [a) anon. barytone; and b) another baritone recording - this one by the well-known singer AKA "New York's favorite baritone" - J. W. Myers. The third 191 disc is recorded by George W. Gaskin - and is the disc heard on this RU-vid video. Charosh indicates that the Gaskin recording [the only one recorded by a tenor] was recorded pre-1896. Hope this helps in identifying which rendition is which. Submitted by one of the few remaining original 1995 edition's contributors. Uncle Josh Weathersby.
I wish youtube still had annotations, the only lyrics I can find online is a pdf of the original sheet music, and most 7'' records and cylinders have shortened versions of the songs so it's hard to follow. Great record though. Theres maybe a dozen of these left and you have one, hold on to it.
