Ancient Egypt was known in antiquity as the birthplace of the gods and the most ancient source of religious ideas and rituals.
In their stories of cosmology, the gods are born out of a self-generated diety that existed prior to the act of creation.
In this video, we review sources of Egyptian Cosmology and Egyptian Religion in general, and those Greek Historians and later philosophers who caught echoes of this original teaching.
As well, we review the Nes-Amsu Papyrus and an important cosmological Hymn to Ptah.
Coupled with a number of additional Egyptian hymns and Greek commentaries, this overview of Egyptian Cosmology will leave us wondering who borrowed from whom.

Life eternally actualizes infinite potential, because only Eternity can fully embrace Infinity. Therefore, Life is the one Absolute Being in which all relative beings live, move and have their Being.

Definitely going to binge your videos. The production quality is astounding, so I cant thankyou enough. Regarding the topic of egypt & religion, I've recently delved into "the only planet of choice," which presents some interesting concepts. One such is the idea of precursor civilizations such as lemuria or atlantis. The reason I bring this up is due to the *possible connection of egypt, specifically its relgion, in relation to the history of the precursor civilizations. Overall I still find it hard to grasp given my biases but It might be an interesting topic to cover. Keep up the great work. 👍

Thanks for tuning in! Yes, for instance the Temple of Edfu has inscriptions of their “Primeval Ones” (their ‘gods’) coming into Egypt from an island to the west of Africa. We will cover the Atlantis situation once all our bases are covered! Blessings!

Well researched und a deep dive into the mistery religion, which outwardly manifested qualities of different gods. But inwardly the priest kept secret the monotheism, which later became public by Moses, who was intitiated in the mysteries of ancient egypt.

Well done, the amount of information is staggering, you deserve more views. I always thought ancient Egyptians were monotheists and it gets stronger by the day. Modern Egyptians scholars say that Atum in Egyptian mythology is Adam, Nu is noah etc also Osris and Set story sounds very similar to Cain and Able, their strong belief in the after life and judgment based on what you did in life.. This is Monotheism and probably the first religion before the ones we know (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) Thank you for the video. Edit: Modern Egyptian scholars say that word gods in ancient Egypt has been wrongly translated in English, there is Netjer which means divine being but it doesnt necessarily mean gods, it includes angels and prophets from my understanding.

@ashiinsane90
@ashiinsane90 5 месяцев назад
@@miguelatkinson Sources on which part? that the Egyptians were monotheists? One needs to go way back and look at the Egyptian mythology it self and this is known among all scholars so this isnt really new. According to the ancient Egyptian mythology Ra created him self and the universe he then created Atum, Atum lived in heaven for some years he then later got kicked from heaven and ascended to Earth, he was the first being to do so. he bore many children Osiris and Set (Cain and Able) the list of prophets (Netjer which was wrongly translated to mean gods which it does not) goes: Ra = God, according to the book of the dead "he is supreme being who founded the universe, lord of the heavens and the earth, east and west the eternal one, nothing came before him and nothing after him" Atum = Adam Osiris = Able, also known as Idris in Arabic. Many Arabic scholars from the medival era wrote about him. including Al-maqrizi, Ibn Kathir. In Islam he is known as the first prophet/human to invent paper and writing.. and apparently so did Osiris in the Egyptian mythology. Set = Cain, he is known as the first killer of his brother, this story is well known among all monotheistic religions, is also the exact same story in ancient Egypt, coincidence much?.. Isis = one of the sisters mentioned in religious books although not by name. Horus = Hud Akhnonkh = Enoch Nu = possibly Noah Geb = Gebra'el (angel) This is only tip of the ice berg, all of the evidence cannot be presented in comments..

Yes but this doesn't sound like monotheism this sound more like some form of panentheism/pantheism. The idea of divine beings is itself polytheistic

What about the civilization that built Gobekle Tepe? That was a ritual site built by hunter gatherers. I don’t think you could argue ANY civilization had the first religion, because every civilization had some form of religion. You’d have to argue what the first civilization is.
@americanesoteric
@americanesoteric 7 месяцев назад
These ideas of the "first civilization to have a religion" are always provisional. The first "we know of" etc. Statements like this deserve qualifying remarks. So I stand by my word choice. It could be argued that Egypt was the earliest civilization to have a religion. Just like it could be argued for the Sumerians etc.

This is great work. The Cosmology and Spirituality of Egypt(Kemet) are inherently African. These beliefs are indigenous to Africa dating back to 7,000 BC with archeological sites like Nabta Playa. Egypt was born with all of its religious systems and symbols intact.
@rodionromanovich449
@rodionromanovich449 7 месяцев назад
African in that it sits in Africa. Culturally not so as most Africans still live in mud huts, eat grass, and worship bundles of sticks. They defecate in the open and walk around naked while still not knowing how or raise livestock or crops. The culture that built up the pyramids did not come from this lot

Love the video but egyptian religion of the priests then seems more like pantheism and/or panentheism then outright monotheism. The idea of the sun God that emanates life is true but emanations are still a part of God meaning that everything contains aspect of this divinity. Ties into the concept of reincarnation.
@americanesoteric
@americanesoteric Месяц назад
Well the difficulty is that Egypt’s religion changes so much over their history. It’s unlikely we can apply modern categories like monotheism or pantheism and actually capture the essence of it. Nonetheless, though Egypt had numerous deities, and worshiped different ones depending on the province, some of their texts show a unified God at the ‘beginning’ of things. A singular being from which all other gods are born. A self-generated ONE. In that respect it could be said they were at point both monotheistic and pantheistic. Again, such categories are somewhat arbitrary when we try to fit the ancients inside of them. Thank you for commenting!

@@americanesoteric yea i understand that but my point is most pagan systems have a first God who emanates out more Gods but this doesnt somehow take away the divinity of the other gods is my point which is why saying its monotheism is a bit misleading(not saying its intentional). This is similar to how hinduism and brahman function. Just thought i should point that out but seriously man love your work! was wondering if you were going to make a video related to the hermetic kore kosmou so little people have created content relating to that hermetic text

The Egyptian cosmology pre-dates the Sumerians. The Egyptian spiritual system comes directly from Ta-SETI and the Nabta Playa structure used the same system in 7,000 BC that we find in Egypt in 3-2,500 BC 4 thousand years later.

it was black we just moved south due to collapse, slave raids, occupation and everyone trying to conquer land. a rigorous research will tell you that. you can't just tell a lightsin child born from a black mother that their mother was never black and your white second wife is their actual mother. romans ruled egypt they were not black, greeks ruled they were not black, assyrians ruled egypt they were not black. you can't go too far in a actual original lightskinned egyptian without their lineage becoming black. every other non black ancestors is either immigrant, invader, conqueror or something else. thieves and rapists too! and that continues till today. you think of black africans as slave descendants you think that started with european colonial expansions? travel back in history you'll see. maybe it'll make you realize why some tribes advocate ethnic cleansing. and when they say white egyptian they really just mean albino. not the invaders.
