When I started as a freshman engineering major there was one girl on my floor that hadn’t followed the engr school suggestions and bought the school spec dell. She had a badass black MacBook. What a hero
Another great video!!! On January, after a long search, I finally could get a preowned Black MacBook in almost perfect condition, it even has it's original box, install discs and one apple sticker, despite a pretty small brighter spot close to the bottom right corner (noticeable only in white backgrounds), it's almost perfect. A couple of months ago, I was thinking about selling it, but I finally decided to keep it, this one along with iBook G3 clamshell and the 17" MacBook Pro are my favorite Apple Notebooks. The one that it's really hard to get in good condition is the Titanium PowerBook G4, most of them are almost destroyed, with big scratches all over the case, I hope to get one the next year
DUDE! Literally yesterday I was moving stuff in my office and found my black MacBook and said "That is probably the coolest computer I've ever owned"...and then I stumbled across this video today. Crazy. I had a 17" PowerBook G4 when this was released and I switched immediately. It was a bit of a step down in power, which was a little rough in my digital media courses in college, but still...I felt so cool. Good stuff!
To this day this was my favorite line of macs to ever exist, i remember being in elementary school saying that i wanted a macbook more than anything, and i think the design is what made me fall in love with it compared to the PCs that i had been surrounded by with XP and Vista
I still think this MacBook is one of the best designs for a laptop. I don't have a black one (yet!) but I have two white ones and they are an absolute delight to use and type on.
I have five of these things. I don't know why, but I just kept buying them and frankensteining them together until I had one that was like new. I upgraded it as much as possible and it works great, but I never use it. Now it's sort of like a piece of art to look at and admire, but I don't like the feeling of having to carry about a block of concrete. Also, I don't want the plastic to crack. The four donor black books are just sitting in my office closet; maybe I should upgrade one of those and actually use it.
I was a student and couldn’t justify the black tax so I got a white one, but boy was I envious of anyone who had it. What a beauty. I still have that Core Duo “Yonah” MacBook and with an SSD and Tiger, or our beloved Snow Leopard, it’s reasonably fast.
i think I've just scored the best bargain and bought one off ebay in grade A near mint condition for 100 perfect parts and everything from a seller in my country UK
Hi there, I have one of these black models and want to do an upgrade. I have the new RAM and SSD in my possession, but I am afraid to go ahead with the upgrade because my CD drive is broken, and I haven't confirmed that an OS install is possibly at home without the CD drive. You mentioned that you were a Mac tech - can you point me in the right direction? Thanks so much.
It depends on which version of the Blackbook you have. You can tell in the system report. The very first one (Macbook1,1) has a Core Duo processor and therefore will only allow MacOS up until Snow Leopard. Macbook2,1 to Macbook4,2 (late 2006 to late 2008) will allow you to install Lion. The 2009 Macbook can use El Capitan but those only came in white. If the optical drive on your Macbook doesn't work, you can make a bootable USB stick first. There are plenty of how to guides all over the internet on how to do this.
Ah yes, the Black MacBook--or what I called my "MacinBlack". The first Mac I ever *bought*, and quite a looker. I was super-excited to install Windows XP on it at the time because the black MacBook *looked* like a PC, and Windows never looked out of place on it.
laptrinhx.com/steve-jobs-and-the-imac-pro-1646793888/ SJ: “Jony. We’re making an iMac that costs $5,000. Literally how are we gonna market that?” “Black.” says Jony Ive and shuts the door.
