"Now play it reggae-style". That was incredible. There's a great interview with Vinnie Colliauto(?) talking about having to sight-read this at an audition. It's pretty funny.

So, uh... First of all, coolest thing in the world. I know what a challenge this piece is, and I only tried it from a drum kit perspective, I never had the backbone to get on a marimba and tackle this! Also, I love that you are able to capture so much on a drum set that size because you know there's more to a kit than just loading up with pieces... Your accents, the way you hit things with different strength, and the way you kinda turn a few drums into several drums... That's my quick comment way of describing it, i think you know what I mean. Incredible stuff! You are an exceptional percussionist.

Brilliant! The first time I listened to this I did not was aware of WHAT I was listening to. Then a jazz pianist advised me to "pay close attention to how the drummer (T. Bozzio) puts Frank's ideas on the drum set". So yes. FZ was a genius! and this performance is quite remarkable. Congrats Pauline. You really are into the percussion world! Bravo!

@@paulinesounds I was lucky enough to meet him after a show in London's South Bank. He signed a setlist and took a selfie with me. I asked him "If they ever remake The Running Man, will you be in it?" and he looked confused, then smiled and said "no". I could have asked him anything about the music or his father, but for me absurdity is the only reality. :)
