One of the images I used was not of the black templar. It was of the death watch. When I originally looked at it I thought it was a black Templar that had served in the death watch and kept his pauldron as is pretty commonplace for those who serve time in the long watch. But after looking at again I'm pretty sure it's just an image of a bunch of Death watch dudes 😅
ironically in 9th they changed their hatered of the witch to all psykers, when it used to be everyone but sanctioned ones, since astropaths in their eyes talked with the emperor himself and were highly respected and taken care of
That last rule makes me think of this: Random guardsman: hey space marine, bet you can’t survive a fall off this chasm! Black Templar: starts sprinting
I thought one of the Emperor’s last acts before being entombed in the Golden Throne was approving the creation of the Inquisition, and one of those first inquisitors would BECOME the first chaptermaster of the grey knights and one of the founding members of the Ordo Malleus, but the Emperor was mortally wounded too soon after that event to explicitly direct and organize its development.
@@IONATVS Not exactly. Before the battle on Terra, the emperor ordered Malcador to search for "pure" man. And Malcador came back with 4 Space Marines, three of them would be the first Grey Knights, and 8 Governors, who would form the Inquisition. The fourth space marine was Garviel Lokan, the last loyal Lunar Wolf, but he refused because he thought he's duty was something else.
@@hannes5437 But my point is: Malcador & the Emperor only FOUNDED the Inquisition, the Grey knights were a early-but still post-entombment, so not directly organized by the Emperor-development OF the inquisition. The space marines who accepted became INQUISTORS when they accepted Malcador’s recommendation and the Emperor’s invitation, and only founded the Grey Knights later as a specific wing of the Ordo Malleus to concentrate the space marine psykers of the Inquisition in a more organized & effective military force. So they could more effectively punch the daemons of the warp in their souls. The Mandate of the Inquisition grants extremely broad discretion to the Inquisitors, so they certainly weren’t going against any orders of the Emperor to make such a sect, but it wasn’t DESIGNED by him.
The black templars have no idea who the grey knights are, they are one of the highest held secrets of the imperium of man and space marines are mind wiped if they come into contact with them.
fun fact: even though they refuse psyker their conviction and faith in the emperor has given the black templars the power to resist psykers that includes the machine spirits of his weapons.
So, in short, they don't have weapons who jam at the least convenient time and adeptus Mechanicus are just making a theathre rather than, in fact, repairing stuff?
@@szymonpajak4102 excuse me but good machine spirits don't make the weapon jam, they in fact make the weapons realiable af. But yeah some are fucked up and the mechanicus are kind of a crazy bunch
It's not only their faith. Their pure, unrepressed hatred for psyker disrupts the warp around them and makes it harder for pskers to channel their powers.
@@elickson7340 I never have gotten the concept of machine spirit. Does the machine actually house a spirit or is it just their religious zelotry pretending it have one?
Friendly correction from a Templar player; at this point in canon it is unknown why the Templars don't take Psykers. It's suspected that because they Abhor the Witch any Psykers are dead by the time they start recruiting on a planet. As of like 6th edition, Black Templars have the utmost respect for Imperial Sanctioned Psykers. You can't navigate the warp with pure divine wrath alone, after all. ^~^ Love what you do, brother.
@@chrisb9143 imagine every Imperium soldiers including marines that fight against the Orkz across the galaxy are obligated to yell, "THE EMPEROR HAS BEEN RESURRECTED!!" given enough decades, the Orkz would start to believe that the Emperor is truly alive.
"You abhor psykers but your entire way of life and war revolves around the use of astropaths and navigators" "We figured we would kill them last"- high Marshall Helbrect ITEHATTSD
Also the Black Templars are one of the few space marine factions that don’t actually listen/follow the limit to units. Cause they’re split into multiple different battle groups that are all over the place so it’s nigh impossible to get an accurate count of their numbers- which drives the inquisition crazy.
According to what I know and have seen they aren't bound to the 1,000 marine limit. Because the codex astartes says that they dont have to adhere to that limit if they are on crusade and the templars are always on crusade. So while technically they are abusing a loophole it's still a rule that ol Bobby G wrote in his book.
@@Argento_Wolf as do I. Even better that they named their flagship "The Eternal Crusade" as like a big middle finger to anyone who would do or say shit about their numbers.
minor correction, some lore mention that after a war against some heretic (or xeno, i don't remember well the details), there was a scream across the warp that killed a lot of psyker and all of their Librarians. Since then ,they stopped recruiting Psyker and no astartes became one either.
@@julejule7 no, he made them stand in the ashes of thier holy city while he forced them to kneel in front of himself, Malcador the sigilite and robute guiliman and the ultramrines legion. And proceeded to tell lorgar that he is not a God and he is ashamed to call him his son and to cease thier worship of him. The word bearers then proceeded to worship choas instead.
Literally have no clue what it happening in 40k at any time but these guys, the orkz, and whatever those weird mech suit boys are, really make it interesting to me
The Templar take "Only death our dury ends" to a whole other level. Befor a battle they chain their weapons to their powerarmour and swear to hold their weapon in hands even when they die.
Dude, i really love your Videos. The first video i saw, imidietly got me hooked, and now im drowning in warhammer videos. Please keep on doing these videos, they really make my day and are one if the few reasons to wake up :). Thank you!
Truly. from a Black Templar himself, Our chapter thanks you for your work, Though I do caution you against heresy.. We may have to send a missionary to your world. To teach you the truth. WITH HIS LIGHTNING CLAWS
I mean literally everything the emperor of mankind can do points to him being a God, he's lived for 10s of thousands of years, he has psychic ability beyond comprehension, he is able to convey his presence/will across the galaxy with ease and bestow power on people and he holds back 4 chaos demons from invading terra. How is that not a god. Sure some of those things are after his "death" but he wasn't that much weaker before then either.
I never get tired of your videos. I watch them so often that now when I hear One Winged Angel I don’t think about Sephiroth but I think about Space Marines.
Any good books/comics anyone would recommend to dive into the wearhammer lore about the different chapters of space marines as someone who knows little to knowing about the setting?
There is…… so much stuff. However I will go with the classic first timer and recommend Ciaphas Cain: For The Emperor. Also, Bricky‘s ”Every Warhammer 40K Faction Explained“ on YT is a great nutshell. Hell, I‘d type out a quick summary of the lore here if you want.
Black Templar are my favorite chapter. I love the old rules that basicly said these guys were so fanatical that they never took cover, instead the fanaticism acted as cover as they charged the enemy. Plus shooting at them.only made them run at you faster. The fact they ignore the the codex astartes and secretly have thousands upon thousands of Marines ready to swarm down and pulverize the enemy is awesome... Anything that puts a finger in Girly man's eye is okay with me.
Secritaly? They dont hid the fact they have no need to. A chapter on crusade may have more than 1000 limit and they are on a permant crusade. But seeing how they all over the place fighting on count less fronts there full number is unkown and all ways changing.
"They consider those who wields the power of the warp as abominations" heh wait till they learn how big e keeps living till this day and how he uses his 'holy power'
Iirc more modern lore suggests that they don't actually reject the librarians, it's just that for whatever reason they just can't produce them, with some viewing it as a challenge from the God Emperor
1: The Emperor was a god and was a lying asshat for saying he wasn't. 2: The Black Templar haven't banned Psykers. They are just incapable of producing them for reasons unknown to even them. They willingly work with Psykers of other chapters.
@@tomislavkatalinski7976 that sounds like older lore back when the templar even hated Astropaths and Navigators. Unlike how nowadays they see them as blessed servents of the emperor
AH YEEEEAH.... I *TOTALLY* forgot that they were an Imperial Fists chapter. Fucking Dorn, why did you have to go die? I swear, every Primarch who aren't a perpetual or Plot Armor Guiliman either died, went M.I.A, or fell to chaos.
As a wise man once said "The Black Templars are just weaponized autism." And i couldn't agree more. The Black Templars are my favorite space marine chapter.
I’m very new when it comes to 40k universe I only have watched your videos on it but is it a game or book series or what is it who’s the creator like more answers pls
Yeah go to my page and check out the featured video. It goes over in depth and has a lot of suggestions for people who are brand new it's called wtf is Warhammer 40k
Warhammer 40k is a sibling lore universe to the Warhammer Fantasy lore universe. Both are inspired by their namesake tabletop games but have expanded to include books, video games, and other media.
I'm not 100% clear on this because they're lore has changed a few times. But I believe they think it's okay for him to do it because they view him as a literal God.
It's a little more complexe than that. They worship the emperor and the imperium. Not in a god way, but in truly loyal way, "Big E is the boss and we serve him" way.
@@guy_autordie I'm preeeetty sure they worship the Emperor the same way one would worship a literal God. There's a reason why they are called religious fanatics. :)))
Hey wes just saying that I didn’t care or know about 40k until I saw one of your shorts about the templars with the one hit hammers and I was hooked. Thanks for getting me into something I had no idea I’d love so much
