Thank you so much! There are so many dimensions to Red and Dembe's relationship which is a byproduct of their being a part of one another's lives for such a long period of time. Basically, Dembe knows and understands Red best - ultimately, I find now it's through their interactions where we as the audience become more informed in regards to Red and the man beneath the armor of tailored suits and fedoras. I just adore them and would love to explore their journey further in other mediums apart from vidding. I have several fanfic stories either unfinished or untouched altogether, and more than one of those are dedicated strictly to this particular pair and immediate circumstances.

Thank you, Michelle! There's an element of reciprocity to their relationship that others on the show simply cannot compete with. Yes, Red and Lizzie's journey is the center - at least it's supposed to be. But ultimately, I've always found Red and Dembe's connection the most compelling and regard these two separate dynamics on equal ground. That Dembe has been a part of Red's life from the beginning and stands by him under all circumstances translates into his offering a unique perspective on the events as they continue to play out and most importantly informs us as the audience on the man - the good man - beneath the armor of perfectly tailored suits and fedoras.

Not many relationships compare to Red and Dembe - from a “bromance” perspective, they very much rival or deserve to be in the same conversation as Alan & Denny (introduced during the final season of “The Practice” and expanded through five seasons of “Boston Legal”). So long as the show continues, I fully expect to create more videos focusing on them. I posted a new video in celebration of James Spader’s 60th birthday, and Dembe plays a prominent role. Damn Monique outstanding video and the crazy part is you could’ve went longer and I don’t think anyone who has posted a comment would even care that’s how much we love Red and Dembe. In S8 if these two things happen I’m done with the show, Tom Keen comes back and if they kill Dembe off the show. IMHO the last episode Liz will take over his empire and either Dembe protects Liz or Boz comes back and does it. Wouldn’t that be something. The best bit is where he shoots Jeff for being ultimately responsible for dembes family being slaughtered! The speech he gives is phenomenal! He speaks like he's the proudest dad and then says "he is. . . Splendid!" And then dembe still tells red not to kill him because of him being a good man and red looks at dembe after with such regret but such honor and nobility in the act of what he just done!.

Alongside the scene in Anslo Garrick where they're chanting those religious words whilst red is basically giving up his life to try and save dembes and then the screen goes blank! Best cliff hanger ever and then when dembe was alive I was immediately hooked on their connection! And then it gets explained and tied together in the Mombasa cartel so perfectly! 💟

I believe Dembe in a sense serves as Red's conscience. At least what is left of it. Dembe has challenged Red on more than one occasion - expressed regret and remorse over the war with Mr. Kaplan, implored Red repeatedly to tell Liz the full truth at the time of Garveys attack on her & Tom, kept Liz's secret because he wasnt sure how Red would react. Red may not always agree with Dembes opinion but he truly respects him and trusts that Dembe is a truly decent man who has Red's & Liz's best interests at heart. I dont believe he values Dembe more than Liz but he definitely trusts him more and Dembe has shown for the most part that he has earned that trust.

According to how long Dembe has known red…for Red to have been Katarina, he would’ve had to have undergone extensive surgeries in his early 20s to transform into a guy with that build, etc. I don’t believe that Red is Katarina. For me it would be anticlimactic if that were the case.

I agree. Red being Katarina is a theory I’ll never, ever be on board with as it simply doesn’t fit the material, the characters from a history standpoint, or events we’ve been privy to. It appears to be another of those tacked on concepts that’s clearly not thought through and/or examined well.

@@nikkixsensei I think one reason why show runners aren’t directly denying it is because it keeps a bunch of interest in the show. The anticipation of fan theories builds excitement and buzz for the show. I mean look at Red. I can’t buy that a tiny woman like Katarina had surgery to look like Red in her 20s. It literally does not fit timelines of the story at all. I think katarina is an alias, code name or something like the archive.
