An interesting point. But if it is to be considered, one must expand the point. It is not possible to live in this world of duality without destroying. Even if you breathe, you are inhaling some forms of life. If you set foot upon the earth you are crushing something. However let us consider....if you love everything and are a part of everything, then even destruction can be an act of love, done in the right consciousness. Every saint, taking on a physical body, must participate in the nature of creation which is in a constant state of birth and destruction. So rather then to focus on only the silk worms , it seems we need to attain a higher grasp of the purpose of this created world itself. Remember that Krishna even killed people. All Avatars play a role, as we do as well. I only humbly offer these general thoughts that come in response to your statement.

There are spiritual and esoteric reasons for wearing silk. Such as to protect the energy field and body, it’s clear she covers herself completely to shield herself. maybe there are non violent ways of procuring silk for sarees and other clothing?? All the Brahmans in india wear silk as it is a sign of purity and devotion as well as protection for the subtle bodies.

There is a silk called ahimsa silk, but the fibers lack the luster of himsa silk fibers, and they are coarser and thicker also. So women do not buy ahimsa silk saris.
