My husband’s grandma had white bleeding hearts. Little white pillowy hearts with a touch of a deep fuschia pink color. I have looked in specialty nurseries, garden stores and on line. She passed away 7 years ago and here house has been torn down and now apartments. It was built in 1890. Chicken coup, Barn …everything gone to mass ugly apartments. I would have loved to dig them up along with a whole bunch of others. I also miss the Chinese lantern plant that bloomed every fall… beautiful little orange puffed lanterns on lime green stems. That would have been my dream place to live…reminds me of a cross between little house on the prairie and scenes out of the dukes of hazard. I could never get use to city life. I love country life and going up and down the creek listening to the bull frogs and when I was a kid my brothers and I would each grab a 5 gallon pail and see who could catch the most Gardner snakes or lizards. I also miss getting up in the morning picking huckleberries and making huckleberry pancakes or my dad would pick strawberries and make us strawberry shortcake. I guess these memories flood my mind seeing some of your property and not knowing how much longer I have with my dad. He is terminally ill. He didn’t know his well water was full of arsenic. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer and a year later my mom was diagnosed with bladder cancer which raised a concern with their doctor who told them he thought they needed to get their water checked. Sure enough extreme levels of arsenic and other heavy metals. They lived there over 40 years and my dad never thought to have it tested since the water tasted fine. So I don’t share this for pity but for awareness. If your on a well have your water tested regularly. Keep your family safe, I hate that my parents spend more time in the hospital than the do it home. I don’t like seeing them in pain all the time. Dads had two heart attacks, moms blind now. And I am feeling like I don’t know what to do to comfort them. Many of you know what it is like to take care of a frail loved one. I ask for Christians to pray in Jesus name to comfort them. They believe in Jesus and they have a small church family. I think it’s beautiful they visit them in the hospital, call and check on them. Again, please get your water tested regularly if you’re on a well. Positively; In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We thought the wild bleeding heart was a gift from the gods at first. I had never seen it until we moved here. We have been trying to eradicate it for the last two years. It’s still popping up in the upper woodland, and I’m always pulling it out when I do my walks. It does look good in your bed with the traditional bleeding heart, but keep a watchful eye.

Yes, you are right. Our neighbor pulls them out as well because the native ones do pop up in places where they're not wanted. In that case, we do pull them up.

You are very lovely and relaxing to listen to but the videographer throwing his two-cents in is very jarring and obnoxious. Sorry, not sorry. 😊

Sorry you feel that way. Many times, if the person on camera forgets to mention something, the videographer will. We will consider this advice as we move forward.

Short-lived and ephemeral are TWO different things. Short-lived concerns the WHOLE LIFE of the plant, not only in one season (like aquilegias that disappear after 2 or 3 years). Besides , if grown in shade and with enough water, the bleeding hearts can keep foliage throughout the most of the season. So NOT ephemeral by definition at ALL! Example of ephemeral: sanguinaria (keep flowers for like 2 or 3 days)

If you cut the flowers off and bury them, will the create a new plant?
