Nice review. A couple of insider nuggets to answer some of your questions about why BR3 wasn't made by TRI. Majesco approached us to do a quick project Aeon Flux to co launch with the MTV movie. We also had a contract with them for Demonik (originally Psychic Assassin but that's another story regarding Midway and theft under Psi-Ops). We were in the final phase of development for Aeon Flux when Majesco started becoming delinquent on payments for the 2 projects. We watermarked Aeon Flux prompting Majesco to pay us to finish it and shutting down the Demonik team (The demo footage was used in Grandma's Boy as well as reskinned BR characters running in the background as a 2D fighter). After that debacle, we were approached to make Ghostbusters and parted ways with Majesco. Bonus Round: The Walking Dead game was originally a value title with a ~10 month production cycle. The reason for this was that at the time Activision and AMC thought that the television series would only last a few seasons and wanted the game out for fans before season 3. With the unexpected success and popularity of Daryl, Activision decided to brand it as a AAA product and change the price point to $60 without adding additional time or resources to development.
Wow what a dick move from Activision. Thanks for the insight, I love the Bloodrayne series and even bought all the games twice. Especially Bloodrayne 2 is an grandiose masterpiece and i love replaying it every year!
What a wild ride. Today I learned 2 valuable things: 1. Ben Kingsley appeared in the first BloodRayne movie. 2. Rayne is probably the first character that got officially rule 34'd on a porn magazine by a video game publisher. Fantastic video as always!
I love Bloodrayne! Thank you for making this retrospective review series! I enjoyed your analysis very much and I hope the series is able to continue soon. All eyes on Ziggurat!
Ahh I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Rayne's future is looking brighter than it's looked in years, maybe ever. Here's hoping Ziggurat really runs with what they've got!
I was a fan of the Bloodrayne Franchise back in the day, and I do hope we see either a Bloodrayne 3 or at least a Reboot. Not only investing in a new Bloodrayne game good, but the franchise has the potential to invest in a new IP as well where you can create a new game that focuses not on Rayne, but on the Brimstone Society and the adventures they have. That way you have two franchises to make money off of. Bloodrayne for Hack and Slash fans, and a Brimstone game for Survival Horror fans. As for the movies, I was unfortunate to see the first one on the SciFi Channel, and man it was a piece of garbage. I know a lot of people personally blame Uwe Boll for the downfall of the Bloodrayne Franchise but do not blame him for it. Paul Anderson made those really bad Resident Evil movies and Capcom still makes Resident Evil games. The downfall for Bloodrayne lies on Majesco's Shoulders. They never had faith in their most successful franchise which was Bloodrayne and they made a lot of really stupid business decisions that ultimately ruined them. It wasn't Uwe that killed Bloodrayne for all those years. It was Majesco they were to blame for it.
Yeah, Majesco seriously must've lost all faith in the series after the release of BloodRayne 2, because who knows where the series could have gone after Betrayal. Here's hoping Rayne's future is brighter with Ziggurat at the helm. Certainly seems to be looking that way so far.
@@madmorpheusgaming I do not think it was BR2 that made them lose faith. The game did sell well. I think once that first movie flop(and 2 more flops after that) It was about the end of the series. The movies really did damage Rayne's image sadly.
To be honest even though I only remember seeing pictures through gaming magazines of BloodRayne 1 and BloodRayne 2.. I've always wanted to play it so badly and like I really want to get my hands on both games perhaps try out BloodRayne Betrayal looks very challenging indeed I mean it does give some Castlevania mix with Viewitful Joe vibes.. If BloodRayne does come back for a revival I'll be waiting for it.. But also I will have to watch the 3 movies of BloodRayne on why was it so bad?.. One more thing though whenever I look at BloodRayne it somehow has some sort of a connection towards Blood Omen or Soul Reaver I don't why but I have this kind of connection feeling within my heart..
