Luzaku: The Sky greets you.
Mara Sov: The Lucent Hive's very own Black Swan Event. Greetings, Luzaku. I am Queen Mara of the Awoken.
Luzaku: This one knows of you, queen of Light and Dark. But this one does not know "swan".
Mara Sov: For our conversation, it is a metaphor used to describe an impactful, unexpected event that is later rationalised with the benefit of hindsight. You are an outlier, I am guilty of rationalizing. Giving a definition to your existence and purpose to fit my own biases.
Luzaku: And what has the queen of Light and Dark defined?
Mara Sov: That you are a component of a piece of logic, I am only now beginning to fully understand... That you are a part of something greater. A component of a bomb yet to detonate, that in isolation defies knowing... And in this, I concede to my own biases. You defy definition.
Luzaku: This one is intrigued by your perspective. Perhaps we should contemplate these possibilities together.
Mara Sov: Perhaps, in time... But I am not yet ready to put my emotions aside. I doubt many are.

Fun Fact: Luzaku is apparently voiced by Kirsten Potter, who also plays Mara Sov. So she's just having a conversation with herself here.

@@twelved4983 Actors are paid by time not lines. Going by current SAG-AFTRA rates, even at the highest tier, a single interactive media VO session includes up to three voice prints before any additional costs.

This is gonna sound weird, but I’ve never seen a Hive Wizard’s legs. If she doesn’t have any, I feel the most she can do is just twirl around and swoop-de-swoop and all that.

I love how humanity's cultural references always goes over Luzaku's head. It tracks, because rest of the Hive aren't like Savathun who lived with humans for a long time and understands the subtext when being spoken to.

I'm glad Mara has grown enough to be self-aware of her own biases, and to acknowledge them as shortcomings. MASSIVE growth from the secretive Queen she was circa D1 or even Forsaken. It's nice to see.

Not voicing her thoughts and doubts to us before doesn't mean she wasn't self-aware of them earlier. What has changed is that she now trusts us (and others) enough to be more open about herself. Here she literally explains her thought process and feelings to Luzaku.

I have loved Mara Sov for many years - I thought I saw all of her shaped, shades and personalities - patiently explaining with kindness while trying to manage and restrain her own biases was a type of voice and pitch I never thought I'd here

There is one where Savathun actually approves of Luzaku breaking off from the fold and trying to find her own truth, as Savathun puts it. She seems to indicate that she wants her people to be about as independent as individuals like how Humanity, Cabal, and Eliksni are.

Nice to hear the overcomplicated answer from Mara, true to the character 😅 And nice to hear the mention of the bomb [logic] again, here it sounds like a reference to something the Traveler/Light did when it changed Luzaku. So after all, it's not just Mara's own logic that "failed" her as Savathun said elsewhere.

I think the reference is two-fold: Luzaku is a Lightbearing Hive, and was thus associated with Savathun, who is notorious for playing extremely complex long-term games. Luzaku could very easily be Savathun's attempt to gain an "in" with the Tower once again, to have an ear on the ground there that will report back to her. Or she could be a part of an eventual plan to do something else no doubt dastardly, sneaky and clever that gives Savathun some great victory. In that regard, Luzaku could be a part of another "bomb" that has yet to detonate; another piece of Savathun's plans we are seeing in isolation rather than all at once.
