The Blorenge - Min sink and staying in thermals - how many times do I need to learn the same lesson?

I explore using min sink to stay in ridge lift to build up height on the ridge before exploring the valley for thermals. Min sink is about 30cm of break and more than just resting on the breaks. I worry about going into full stalls, but looking at polar curves, there is still a lot more break to pull before that is an issue.
The next lesson was staying with lift that I already have. I too often will leave lift to find lift which doesn't exist. This just puts me in the sinking air which is replacing the thermal I was in in the first place. To correct for this, I will be sticking with lift until I see someone else going up, or until I am at the top of the thermal... I guess that's easier said than done. Using my thermal assist on my vario will also be something that should help in the future.
Thanks for watching.... Jacque.

Nice Video. The moment you start thinking about Landing you will land. If you think about going up generally you go up. Then sometimes you get drilled by minus 4 sink and you land in horrible rotor. I once landed in a river in Castehon De Sos. Franco del Rio. Keep up the good work and that vario is amazing.

You are doing great Jacque. You appear to be getting out there and flying and you are learning by flying. I must admit that I learnt a lot about thermalling by going on a couple of XC courses. Two in Wales and one in Chamonix. Being on the radio with a guide watching and advising was good for my learning curve. Otherwise, dont kick yourself too much. I think most people dont have a vario sound until you get 4 down or similar. this may help as there is sink and SINK

you didnt miss as much lift as you thought. It looked weak. Landed safely. Win.

Good vid bud, be patient on the hill, if no lift, land and wait dont force it. You pushed forward on a gamble, you will lose more than you win. Push forward only when you see lift, birds, wings so on. I wont leave the ridge until I see something happening and if I want lift before that I need to thermal over the back. You mentioned the one wing on your left, get used to flying closer to other pilots as the tighter in the ridge lift you can get the better. Every 1m counts. Watch the great pilots, they wait wait wait, see a sign, launch and go.

I just earned my USHPA P2 rating and am about to learn thermaling and ridge soaring. I have learned quite a bit from your videos, especially those filmed in Aldogonales. What brand/model is your blue vario I see on your riser?
