Brilliant, im a young 23 year old and ripping up the town!!!, now 54 years old n sitting blasting this out remembering all the good times i had...Happy Days
I am 63 now. The eighties was fantastic and this song reminds me of that time. I have a great stereo equipment now. I have this record somewhere. I have to listen to it again.
One of the most iconic sounds of the Eighties...Typically lively, upbeat music with a great melody, a fantastic sax solo and a banging bassline to boot! [ (sigh) I want those days back. ]
The "second British invasion" was great for the decade, British bands poured out of garages, cities, clubs, art school bringing back soul, Motown, r&b and introducing reggae, ska, dub, Irish and Scottish influences, mixing it up with synthpop, new wave, postpunk, pop, attitude, cool, accents, style helping make the 80's the most musically widely varied decade. Thanks guys!
I seem to find myself saying that about all of the 8 million bands I loved in the 80's! So many great bands, no many didn't get the recognition deserved.
I saw them before they went all corporate funk sounding. I thought they were a great post punk band. I think whoever wrote the songs in this style was a good songwriter but I just can't be doing with this degree of blue-eyed funkiness.
UrZ Fight4URight , acid attacks, stabbings everyday in London, atm card fraud, Islamic extremists attacks, scotter robberies ,London in 2018 is terrible, I would take the 80s anyday
Esta canción nunca te cansará.Es una obra de arte.Une una guitarra superfunky, con un supersaxo, una voz supersexy, unos coristas negras y unos arreglos con violines de lujo. Simplemente genial, sencillamente perfecta. Enhorabuena por siempre. YA NO SE HACEN TEMAS ASÍ, una pena.
This is STILL one of the most beautiful tunes every written and that vocal just melts my heart......love. And that perfectly soulful acoustic arrangement aaahhhh
Imagine, this song being number 2. During the summer holidays. Constantly on repeat on the radio. And your grounded....indefinitely Those lyrics speak volumes.
Formed 1981 this was their prime 1986 broke up when the 90s started and 80s unlucky somehow finished want them back Dr Robert slick guy tight band beats nearly anything and everything now in the last 30years
The Blow Monkeys made some of the best 80s videos. Costumes, loose storylines, slow fades, cut away arty shots? Yes, please! (And great songs too, obviously!)
I still remember the long summer nights on the beach on those years at the end of the '80... this song was a real must!!! so sad, believe me, so sad for the nowadays generations, forced to be hurted by something called music but music's not... what a shame!
Don’t be sad this era has gone . It won’t be long before younger musicians and young people will rediscover it and recreate it in a retro way 👍 This is the way ♥️
Saw them play this at Wembley Stadium supporting Rod Stewart in 1985. Dr Robert inserted a lyric criticising Rod for playing Sun City in then apartheid South Africa. Legend.
Una de las mas destacadas interpretaciónes de todo el pop de los 80", sin duda es este tema, melódico y glamoroso,el Dr. Robert y compañía, con lo mejor del pop sofisticado en su mas fresa expresión...
The execution of the video and the music arrangement, the intro, the bridge are just immaculate. It's stylish, sarcastic, politically correct and of course, incorrect. Sheer brilliance.
2023 its 36 years later and the prescription from the Doctor is the same - consume these classy catchy tunes at least once daily for the rest of your life and you will feel much better.
I must have been about 9 or 10the first time I saw this video. I was smitten with the guy who stood there in his night gown and enormous fringe singing.
