Why does every one hate on nc again? I mean his music was trash but I don't understand the hate. Did he do sum controversial?

It's not hate I'm a fan of his content but his cover of the album was a big miss. And the way he's talked about he has said that it was an homage and a tribute to the original album, but at the same time his lyrics and visuals depict it as if it didn't have a strong enough concept to be spread across the album. He hasn't been in any other controversies to my knowledge, and from what I've seen he's a very friendly guy who can laugh at himself. When OneyNG makes fun of him he laughs and takes in stride. I just think that this is a good opportunity for him to explain the vision he had to our favorite internet music critic, as well as his critiques of the original Pink Floyd album

I love the album, but I would hardly consider the production lo-fi. It's a very open-sounding record.

The production is really raw and not TOO distorted, which is perfect I think. Also the lyrics are so TMI, it’s like the shy guy from high school finally saying everything he’s been dealing with after 2 years of being silent

It's definitely honest in terms of women being shitty to guys who aren't the complete package.

It's all subjective at the end of the day. Some of the lyrics definitely make me cringe at times, regardless of the intention on Rivers' part. But you're right, discomfort can definitely be a good thing.

The whole point of the album is the cringe bars - using that as criticism is like saying noise music is bad because it has, well, noise in it

idk man. i think the imitated broken english in the song and the clear sexualization of a teen girl who simply showed interest in him as a person via letter is a little more than just cringe and self-aware daydreaming or whatever. There is a good article by Jenny Zhang in Rookie mag called "Far Away From Me" that describes why the song's fixation on Japanese (teen) girls (which shows up multiple times on Pinkerton) is harmful from an Asian-American woman's pov, if anyone wants to read it. I like Pinkerton for how it sounds but as a woman the creepy lyrics just turn me off from Weezer in general tbh. also i had an argument with multiple people who were convinced that the song was alright because wanting to f*ck a girl in high school isn't bad at all, so the whole "woe is me i'm so fucked up" thing Rivers got going just doesn't seem to register with part of the male audience of the song apparently, which is another problem i have with Pinkerton lol

EWBAITE was the album that redeemed Weezer for me and made me think, “even if this band never puts out another good album, I’ll be ok because I know they’ll be doing their best”. I don’t like any of the albums after White and I’m ok with that.

Blue is timeless and Pinkerton is a time capsule, based on that I’d say whatever you’re looking for is what you think is best.
