very nice_ you called this car HER. I was a go-to guy to this car beginning i 2008. HE was white with a black rooftop and carried a family name_ #MADONNA. Will never forget when my dearest was screaming for stopping at the next busstop to get out...
I consider this the last "true M3" because it was the last to have a highly tuned N/A engine and 2 doors (as the original M3 did and as all M3s should have). Ironically it is now the M2 that is closer in character and concept to old M3s!
Nice video! I have a black 2008 E92 with DCT, one of the first in Canada, and I love it. Fortunately, I've had a several nice BMWs - E36 328, E39 528, E39 540 M Sport, and E46 M3, all manual except the 528. I still like the E39 body style and liked my 540 the best until my E92. My E46 was lighter, nimble and lots of fun but but as a day driver the E92 is far far superior. Even on the race track, the E92 is better, the DCT is a great advantage, the V8 pulls hard and loves to rev between 6000 and the 8400 rpm redline! And it sounds terrific! Yes, it could use more torque, something the new gen turbos provide of course. I do high performance driving with several BMW clubs in Canada and the NE US. As an instructor and driver, I've been on various track in several great cars, many much more expensive. The E92 runs with the best of them. Driven safely and well maintained, it happily takes you back home with little fuss. I intend to keep mine even if I buy something else in the future. Happy and safe motoring all!
this is the most beautiful bmw ever made hands down. just look at those lines... you know the car was styled properly if the car looks gorgeous in any colour, especially white. BMW is no longer the same after the E series platform - they are simply chasing luxury and therefore a wider customer base. coming from an f10 owner i have no issues saying this whatsoever
+Simon Walker I doubt you have any track or HPDE experience. I say that because you compare two entirely different cars from different eras against each other for the sole purpose to justify a weak argument. And you only focus on short falls and negative aspects of a car. Sure, you don't like the e92 M3. But to say its "rubbish, slow, and BMW doesn't make monsters" based off of numbers on a paper and your back roads is a clear example of your simple mindedness. Its not the best M3 ever made (E46 M3 is IMO) but its a damn good one. So be more professional and add qualitative comparisons in you opinion. It was never about numbers and more about driving experience. Your experience sucked, don't insult the brand with a weak argument.
+Simon Walker What a load of cr*p! I have driven a 6 speed manual E90 M3 sedan and it felt incredibly fast (even when I live 3000 ft above sea level). It was one of the best driving experiences of my life. Listening to engine howl its way up to 8400 rpm is one of the most phenomenal experiences. The car traps at 111 - 113 mph and does a 12.6 - 12.8 seconds 1/4 mile. If you think that is slow, you are clearly a troll. It is the best M3 ever made.
I couldn't believe it when Ford announced the GT350 with a V8 that revs to 8k RPM. Ford really surprised me, it seems like they really wanted to make an all out performance monster.
+Ruohong Zhao i think the F82 sounds good in its own way, obviously its not gonna sound like a V8 and a V8 can't sound like an inline 6, its just different thats all.
THANK YOU MR.HIMMEL! FOR MANAGING MY DREAM CAR! JUST BOUGHT A BMW E92 M3 SPACEGREY OVER BLACK NOVILLO LEATHER AND ITS PERFECT! W/99K miles clean title! AMAZING !!!
Same here but I don't even dream about cars that far out of my price range...am shopping for an E92 . :-) Gonna pay cash up front, can't afford it otherwise I figure. Selling my still fun 330ci after 15 yr.s of happy driving if I find the right deal on an M3....dunno what 330 is worth today.
I own e93 M3, when driving you get so much respect from other drivers, you come near them or pass them and no one dares to test you as the M3 looks beastly... When you see other drivers stay away from you then you know you have something special... Very rare to see this... My M3 all black with black tints... Looks nice and mean
I have a 2011 ZCP E90 M3. I'll never sell it, not even if for a straight up trade with a fully optioned F80 M3. The V8 mated to an aftermarket Akrapovic exhaust makes it a perfect car.
I feel like BMW was taking a lot of risks in the mid to late 2000s, moving away from the traditions of earlier BMWs, and trying new things. For example, new designs, iDrive, an increased focus on features in general. I feel like the E92 M3 and E60 M5 with their V8 and V10 respectively were their biggest risks. In my opinion, it was a risk worth it, making two beloved and unique cars that we will never see again from BMW.
One of the best engines ever made by BMW!! And it looks fantastic and ride great, too bad it doesnt have much power. The high rev V8 makes up for it though.
+ArsenGTS Exhaust works in restrictive mode while engine is cold so there is big difference and for me it sounds good don't believe misleading "review" videos
Love the front end, the side view is ok, and the exhaust is music...... but the rear end look basically like every other BMW sadly ☹️. So really, unless you see it from the front you can’t really tell it’s the BMW sporty M3 powerhouse that it is. Here in Australia currently I can pick up a 2013 E92 M3 with 72,000 kms on it for $58k AUD. But there’s a 2011 E92 330d for $25,500 with same kms on it and it has a way more luxurious looking interior. Not just black on black on black interior like in most M3’s 🙄. The 330d weighs just less then the M3 and looks relatively similar from most angles and has a better interior and sunroof. The only thing that really has a difference is the Horsepower comparison. Unless your tracking it, who needs the 420hp of the M3..... the 260hp of the 330d is more than enough power for living and still breaks speed limits easily. And is more fuel efficient. In the end really the only difference to the average owner to notice is the sound. Diesel vs V8. Obviously the M3 wins on sound. And so just the sound difference to the average owner makes it somehow worth so much more $$ ?? Yes it’s better technically etc etc but only noticeable to hard going drivers that track it and use the handling and speed potential.
Did BMW make the new M3 with V8 engine as well? or maybe in the future putting their V8 twin turbo engine in M3 coupe body (that would be best seller!!!)?
next 5 years. Wont appreciate for a while. M4s will depreciate rather quicklly seen the lowest of 53,000 as of now. Maybe you dont want m4 bc of the engine but i still think theyre sexy.
This is partly because they only saved weight at the front half of the car. Probably to keep close to 50:50 weight distribution. In this video they mention the exhaust as a weight saving item , but this is hard to believe because the end muffler alone weighs 25kg. Also the rear subframe is steel. Not aluminium like the front subframe. And the propshaft could have been lighter (CF) also.
Two questions... 1) I checked, and I can't find it anywhere online. How do they come up with the amount they release? Lol...67? Strange number, no? 2) Does anyone drive their M3 in the snow? I asked because my e46 ///M has been in the garage for awhile now. The reason is because the roads where I live are always covered in road salt and not because "it doesn't do well in the snow", or anything else people think or say.
+VenomPool Maybe they had 67 orders on the GTS. It is a weird number I agree lol, hmmm. What about the M3 came out in late 2007, so a 57 plate. But it stopped in 2013 so 3 years in where plates are 61 to 69 of late years. So they thought it came out in 57 and we are where the plates are in 6's instead so they done 67! P.S. That's just a conspiracy hahaha don't take me serious
There is a video knocking around of an E46 M3 on winter tyres vs a FWD car on summer tyres in the snow. M3 nails it. You should definitely consider winter tyres
After owning an E36 M3, E46 M3, and E90 M3 - I am very very UNDERwhelmed by the new turbocharged M cars without the hydraulic steering. Not nearly as fun to drive :(
Praying that @BMW listens to its loyal customers and once again create a naturally aspirated masterpiece. I really want all the new tech in the new M cars (HUD, Bluetooth audio, etc) but cannot sacrifice the sheer driving pleasure of my screaming E90 for those things.
I cant afford to run an M3. So I want the nearest thing to an M3 with a 3 or 3.5 diesel engine. Some of their diesels are pretty fast. Not M3 fast, but not THAT far from it. 0-60 in just over 5 seconds.
