As much as I like Kennan in the garage videos. I prefer the reviews to be just Doug. I’ve been watching Doug for the past 7 years and the thing that keeps me coming back is Doug and his personality, not the cars.
I like the cars too, but will probably stop watching if this guy takes over reviews, no offense to them. They are too similar to be a duo, and Doug's solo work, while quirky, is up there with other solo presenters like Harry Metcalfe, Jay Emm, Sofyan Bey, and Rory Reid's AutoTrader videos
Watching Doug with a co-reviewer is like watching Porsche throw extra doors on the 911 and call it a Panemera. Thank you for not saying "a Doug score" in unison!
People who call the Panamera ugly are the same ones who will praise the “gorgeous” styling of whatever generic Audi comes about. It’s pretty hilarious.
Doug, you need to realise that we watch this channel for you, not the cars necessarily. Most people preferred the Doug Score breakdown because it gave us a further insight on what you think about the cars. Regardless if the video was 3 minutes longer. In the same vain, as much as I like Kennan, we want you reviewing these. You could review a stainless steel pan for 20 minutes and I would still watch it. Just like when you reviewed a few houses and hotel rooms, let's not forget that :D
Kennan seems like a nice guy and nothing against him but Doug IS the channel and two people is fine for the Sunday type videos but these car reviews need to be done by yourself.
Just a couple things... one, I feel like Doug is doing so well now he's trying to pass the torch to his buddy and not do as much RU-vid... two, Kennan is like Ricky Bobby and doesn't know what to do with his hands so he just keep waving them around.
I can easily understand that Doug wants to have more time for his family in the future and he is trying to have his coworker that does some part of the job. I like him but I was watching mostly for Doug and his reviews. It kept me here - even if I couldn’t afford most of the cars but he was fulfilling my curiosity. It is just maybe my opinion…
Doug no longer owns the channel, it was bundled with Cars & Bids for the recent sale. I think he still owns a chunk but not all of it. His role is likely to evolve more into business management so we can expect to see a number of presenters on the channel.
my hope is that once doug gets the channel to basically run itself, he can go full jay leno mode and just pop in and do what he loves and not worry about the rest.
I don't have a parasocial relationship with doug, I'm here for the quirks and features so while I understand that some might want doug for who he is, others might not care. As long as the person isn't obnoxious, it doesn't matter to me
@@IanHobday I think the Channel will suffer then, because Personally I Love all things Cars, Trucks. Boats Planes and what ever else moves, but was only watching because of Doug and his amazing Personality. I'm sure Kennon is great in his own right, but heruins the whole vibe and flow; for me.
Agree with others, Doug should do reviews alone. Kennan basically just does an impression of Doug, but we all want the real thing. That's why we're here. I do like your guest stars for the garage chats. Multiple people in that format makes sense so opinions can be discussed.
Guess this the future of Doug Demuro!! I don’t know if I can say I like it.. Nothing wrong with supporting your friends or helping them out. He’s not bad or anything it’s just not the Doug vibe we all have grown to love!! Especially the veiwers that have been here since the beginning!! Keep these for Sunday videos or bring back More Doug Demuro and upload them on that don’t destroy the formula we all like it will never end well it never does!! 👽🛸
He's not helping out a friend. Kennan is an employee of Cars & Bids. It would be nice to see Doug being more transparent about his future plans. Alas, it's his channel and he does what he wants with it. And we choose to watch or not. He's a smart cookie, given the reactions that Kennan gets, I don't think this format will go on very long.
I think this is going to be seen all over YT. In my opinion Linus if LTT is the first to make this work by introducing others to take on part of the show and it’s worked. These are becoming media companies and brands beyond the founders and livelihoods depend on these channels beyond just the founders as well. This is the only way to keep the same content coming in and allow founders to also not lose everything if they need a break. Normally a founder would hire a replacement CEO or GM once they have achieved a certain amount of success but it seems with YT you can’t do that and all the hard work doesn’t pay off it just becomes more hard work. So this is the only way to split the load and allow founders to stay around without getting completely burnt out. I say we will get used to it just fine and it will be great :) we might even get more content this way. Much appreciated Doug
I don't mean to be rude, but I don't watch Doug Demuro videos for someone else to review cars. If I wanted to watch someone else review a car I'd watch another channel.
Seeing Kennan trying to act like doug is a just too weird.. honestly i think most people are not here to see cars being reviewed by doug but to see doug review cars. I think most people would still watch even if doug reviewed a lawnmower. Its not the cars people come here for. Its Doug we come here for. And sadly i think as much as i love doug and what he has accomplished, i doubt I'd come to see someone else review cars on his channel. I hope you're doing well and wish you come out on top of what ever is going on with the channel.
Is it just me that thinks this guy takes away a bit from the video? There’s nothing wrong with him, he does very well, I just don’t think it suits Doug’s channel to have a second commentator. I come for the car, but I stay for Doug’s.. quirkiness! Maybe time will change my opinion.
Lets wait and see change can take time like the bmw m3 g80, we must give it time to see if we still hate it. Take a month and tell me what u think after.
@@notapplicable4567oh of course, time will tell. I quite like him actually, it’s just strange it not being Doug commentating. I suppose it’s just because we aren’t used to another person on Doug’s vids.
I agree with you. I'm trying to like it and keep an open mind, but you can clearly tell that the script was created by Doug, as it is in his kind of lingo, or at least feels that way. If there must be a collab, I'd much rather see one where that person has their own unique opinion or they review it simultaneously discussing the more "controversial" or subjective things.
Nothing against Kennan but I sub to this channel for Doug and its been perfect for years. I don't mind the sunday conversation series but if doug keeps sprinkling him into the videos I think I might be done
Hopefully the abysmally low view counts will help Doug understand we don’t want to see your friends, we don’t want co hosts. We want to see Doug. Every video being an ad to sell a car sucks. It sucks that you’re always scared to make fun of cars or trash them because then you’ll hurt the auction/relationship with the dealer etc. The glory days of this channel are truly fading fast. It sucks because I was subbed since the Ferrari 360 days.
I normally don't leave negative comments but i will here. Kennan just doesn't fit the vibe of this channel. I thoroughly enjoy the Hoovie colabs and even the girl from the cars and coffee video was great, but we need someone with some quirks and features as a cohost if this continues in the future. I have watched every video doug has ever made but these are hard to get through.
Such a cute experiment! Now we know for certain that we want to stick to one host. Since the channel is called "Doug DeMuro", I suggest that one host to be Doug DeMuro. Keenan is the leather key pouch of the Doug DeMuro channel.
Is Kennan the kind of friend who asks to have a go and you don’t have the heart to say No? If Kennan can drive, why not promote him to testing on the track. That would be a good combo.
Second review in a row that I’d really like to watch but am not going to. Kennan seems like a great guy but I find him hard to listen to. Doug, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.
your fans are super supportive of whatever you want to do and so am I but to be honest, I prefer the videos without Kennan but another good review thanks!
Loved the driving part with the two of them. I think if Doug wants to do more videos with co-hosts, the “quirks and features” part still needs to be his alone. But the beginning and end are perfect places to have a second voice and face.
Probably the best modern retro styling ever, mainly because it used the purity and simplicity of the original car (the 507) and not replicated it. That’s the difference between paying homage and parodying
That's how you do it right , keep the elegant ,timeless parts and modernize only as much as you need to to keep it good. A brilliant car even today IMHO !
I don't get it. The front and front/side look good. The side profile is good if it's the hardtop but just ok on a convertable. The back, well, I just don't like it.
@@Szujhinzu I agree man. I think from a design standpoint the gen 5 is very under appreciated. Maybe a little early to hope someone will do a “resto mod” of one but would be very cool to see one with a better finished interior and a Coyote, and suspension and brake upgrades. If the Ring bros ever became interested in one…
@@carycoller3140 why, it sucks and he should know, this channel won't be popular if he does something like this, or at least find a co host that's more interesting than a piece of cardboard, look at throttle house, those two guys are great together but Doug and that guy is just meh
@@Darx97 I can't stomach Throttle House. Those guys are too clowny for my taste. I was just curious about your comment. I don't care one way or the other about the channel.
If I want to see and listen to the other guy, I'd rather be given the CHOICE to subscribe to his channel. Given that I am not interested in him, would you be so kind as to no longer feature him on your channel? Thank you.
Doug, you created a circumstance where fans are here for you and your style of video. I don’t think adding a new face/voice is what the people who watch your videos want. Regardless of the guys expertise or history, he doesn’t fit your formula.
Don't change your formula Doug.. Don't alienate your fans who have given you the fortune and fame that you enjoy today. I know that you've noticed the view count for this video. As I write this it sits at just 200k. The Z8 is an iconic, amazing machine. It should have at least 2 or 3 times the views that it has. I like Kennan, he's a nice guy who is also passionate about cars. But THIS..... Is Doug Demuro.
BMW really wanted to add as many steps as possible before someone could drive this car: take the key out of it's leather pouch, flip the little chrome tab away from the key hole, unlock the door, get in the car, put the key in the ignition, turn the key, press the push start button, and FINALLY you can drive your car.
This car was my favorite roadster as a kid…Then I saw all of that along with that radio “navigation” reveal 🙄. Man…if adult me ran into kid me I would say “shut up and go watch some more James bind kid” Then that kid would punch me in the nuts over the slow LC 500c
The chrome tab is only necessary when the battery is dead and you need to lock/unlock the car. It does have remote lock/unlock. But yes, it's over the top.
The BMW Z8 is great and as you mentioned in an older Video, it's true that the Alpina modified Version has less Horsepower but yet i still see them more often for Sale here in Germany than a normal BMW Z8. In fact, at our Car Meetups and Driving "Grand Tours" the only BMW Z8s taking Part are Alpina ones. Makes me wonder how many there are out there Also Doug! Really enjoying you uploading 1 Video per Week more than usual! Prost & Cheers from the Bavarian Alps
Chartreux, The Alpina models really get unfairly dissed by the car guru’s. 99% of the owners will drive these (if they ever drive them) will drive it like a grand tourer, gently going from stop light to stop light on their way to dinner. The automatic provides much better low-end (RPM) grunt which is more suitable to normal driving and it probably feels more powerful. It’s his 2nd time doing a (normal) Z8, he’s overdue for an Alpina Z8 review.
@@richgallagher725 Definitely agree with you, while i'd also prefer a Manual in that Car, i know Alpina does a lot to their Models that make it more "Grand Touring". Horsepower isn't everything.
@@MajorSchaefer Thanks, i just got to hat Part in the Video and i'm surprised by that. Maybe most of the Alpina Roadsters are in Germany, which is why i see them more often than a normal Z8, both at Car Meets and for sale
Keep up the good work Kennan! I know it’s really hard to be here in Doug’s channel where his personality has been so overwhelming. Just be yourself and don’t try to be Doug. I know you’ll find your own take one day! Don’t get discouraged!
The first review of the Z8 was the video where I discovered Doug. Incredible how things evolved! The Z8 is still in my 5-cars dream garage. Can’t understand the 2 in practicality though
Kennan seems like a very nice guy and is knowledgeable but he doesn’t translate well on camera. He seems more like a behind the scenes guy and not necessarily an on camera personality.
I'm with y'all on the "Kennan should be somewhere else in a Doug video if he's gonna be in them" - but I like how the comments section here is super polite about rejecting this change.
I owned a Z8 for a couple years. The perfect sports car. Reliable enough to be a daily driver. Special enough to be a Sunday driver. And just so much fun.
I'm not a big fan of Kennan. It's nothing against him personally, he seems like a nice guy. His style is too similar to Doug's but doesn't quite have the same charm that we all love. People with more contrasting personalities to Doug like Hoovey and Alanis seem to hold their own better. I think the car reviews should be just done by Doug alone, if they are to continue. If you want to slow down, why not just put out a video every few weeks when a particularly interesting car comes up? You don't need the money from the views anymore! Very long term viewer (since the Doug Car days!) and am so happy to see all of your successes.
I used to work at a bmw dealership in Puebla Mexico and when this car came to the dealer it was huuuge! But when the alpina version came (from request of clients) everyone went nuts... Absolutely gorgeous and incredible car!
@@blistacompact1848 de hecho los compañeros de sala de venta los presentaban con publicidad de James Bond, lonas, souvenirs, etc. Igual cuando salió el mini edición Italian Job...
Please stop dragging your friends (even-though owners of the car presented) on every second video or review, since few weeks now. It is very annoying. Or make this on your other channel.
Such a great video. My father bought one new back in 2001. Topaz blue with red interior. Only 1 of 8 produced in that color. It was one of those cars when I was young that I liked it, but was more of a 911 guy. But the older I get. The more I just get this car. I truly believe it’s one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Glad I still have it. And I will never sell it. It reminds me so much of my dad.
22:22 Doug, that car is the equivalent to the lady you take out to dinner with a nice tuxedo. Then, drink some wine, have a lovely time alone and wake up to see the sunrise. Elegant, lovely and crazy, it is that beautiful. Ninja edit: misspelling.
One of my favorite cars of all time! I don’t mind the format of Doug and Kennan talking in his garage when you do those but in my opinion Doug needs to do the reviews on his own.
Doug started this channel with his bare hands and stayed consistent while it was built. He can do what he darn well pleases, he is a grown man. Not sure why ppl gotta criticize everyone’s every move when they don’t match up to what you think it should be. If Doug wants a cohost, he’s earned it. Let him live, sheesh y’all.
I think Kennan is a cool addition to the videos. I think having him sitting next to Doug while the car is driving and then discussing the vehicle as opposed to Doug just talking to us is great! However, when the car itself and its features are presented, I would rather it be just Doug and not constantly changing between one or the other.
There is a moment in this video during the driving that Kennan says sonorous, and the way Doug laughs/smirks and compliments him, I got the friendship right there... haha
conspiracy; this film location, along with Kennan, are the start of a new chapter for doug, where he has a dedicated indoor location to film, and will have Kennan do the videos on occasion
Doug is planning to retire, so he is grooming Kennan. Tbh, I doubt its gonna be the same, as Kennan seems a little more subdued than Doug. Still, good on Doug though to give his friend a little shine. Big up yourself Doug!!
10:33 i know most cars have digital gauges now, but for the ones that do have analog ones, front lighting style should definitely be brought back, it looks sooo cool.
It was one of the worst James Bond movies and it was weird seeing BMW pay for having their car in it to be cut in half. Not sure why this video suggest the car was chosen for the movie being some sort of honor, what is driven in James Bond has long been about advertising with the possible exception of the DB5. Case in point, even Ford sedans have been Bond cars.
Honestly one of my favourite cars. Fell in love with it probably around 2010, so I would have been around 10 -11 years old and it’s just always looked amazing to me and still does! Sorry to anyone who had to read this little story😂
Hey Doug, I watch your videos to see you, Doug. You have risen to your success because we love to watch you talk about cars, not because of the cars, not because of the editing, not Kenneth. There are a billion car reviewers out there, and if this becomes the 'Doug's friends' channel I'll sadly have to watch Mat Watson URGH.
