I heard the studio version of this on WHFS (Washington DC) in the 80s while I was driving my car. I almost wrecked my car because I was laughing so hard, but I was impressed. The studio version is even funkier.
After many many years listening and appreciating every aspect of a cappella music, I am still baffled by this group: they are obviously great virtuosos and they do magic with their voices, yet there is something disturbing about the way they deliver it interspersed with irony. I still admit that they are beyond my understanding. Notice: did you listen to the Italian group "Le Voci Atroci": they could have been the Bobs' evil twins.
And you are in just the position to be right, of course, since you might well be typing for yourself. I reply that, in kindness to other kinds, it's marvelous that artists such as these create marvels not meant for everyone. Those someones among us are great-full beyond measure.
