Bocskai Castle boasts a rich historical past and Nagykereki is one of the oldest settlements in Hajdú-Bihar County. Bocskai Castle 12-13. Bocskai Castle was originally a one-story, rectangular castle with a corner tower on each corner of a round plan. Bocska Castle - was heavily damaged during the Turkish siege in the 1660s; after several changes of ownership, decades later, it was put in order by kunkapitány János Hodossy, and then by Sámuel Csanády. From the Bocskai Castle, today you can see the castle building expanded with a columned vestibule, with a cylindrical tower at the northern corner, and a part of the building converted into a granary and reinforced with retaining walls at the southern corner. The Bocskai Castle was inhabited by noble families until 1927, the last family was the Lakatos family. It served as a warehouse during the wars. After 1945, the castle was expropriated, its interior furnishings were destroyed and taken away, the huge trees in the garden were cut down, and the outbuildings were demolished. From 1959, large-scale renovations began in the Bocska Castle, when the pieces of the stove were found, which remained as the only original piece of furniture.
