The gravelly voice in this case was caused by the onset of man flu, but it's now blocked up my nose too, so no more videos until I recover, sorry. Blame it on the Cough of Cthulhu!
This is such an amazing fragment by H. P. Lovecraft, seemingly his attempt to weave the first three sonnets of Fungi from Yuggoth into a prose narrative whole. The piece has always hypnotized me with its rich prose-poetry language, & your reading is superb. The fragment was completed by Martin S. Warnes and published as "The Black Tome of Alsophocus" in ye Arkham House book NEW TALES OF THE CTHULHU MYTHOS, edited by Ramsey Campbell in 1980.
Great reading! I enjoy your take on Lovecraft's books and poems. I would love if you did a take on Dexter Ward, Colour out of Space or Dunwich horror! I do however understand your choice not to, they are quite lengthy. And also, for everyone else enjoying Gisburns reading of Lovecraft, open another window, go to youtube and search the following : Resident Evil Remake Save Room (Safe Heaven) 1 Hour, hit play and enjoy the most fitting background music/ambience.
I appreciate your uploads very much,. At last I have found a voice that I enjoy to listen to, no disrespect to other narrators, but it is a question of taste. Great choice of books I cant wait to get listening, while I work. Many Thanks
I wish i could get my hands on the unknown book the character found in this story. To travel through infinite abysses of time and space. That's gotta be amazing.
@TheDaRkMaStEr43 Maybe not book length for a while because I'm also working on The Iliad, which is a monster of a project. However, my 'to do soon' list includes 'The Lurking Fear' and 'The Call of Cthulhu' which are longer short stories. I'm building up to the bigger works!
@@nunyanunya4147 I do not understand fully your comment, but reading and being exposed to ideas and poetry, and filosofy, at a young age, accompanied by an adult, only benefits you and prepares you for life. Living in a bubble weakens you, protecting children from "monsters" does not mean to say they are there and here is how you should deal with them. Learning to think for yourself is a conditio sine quanon to be a prepared person. Lovecraft is poetry and also themes like horror and fear, understanding fear helps you to deal with it, dealing with racism/anti semetism in Lovecraft, aids you to deal with it too. I am a balanced person that as the capacity to hurt others, trained in 3 types of martial arts, strong, trained in the use of blades, bows and firearms, and I am kind to children and animals, never struck a woman or forced her to do anything she would not (edited "not")want, including forcing her to be with me, and that respects everyone, and I have not been in a serious fight since my early 20´s. To be an adult is also to be offended, sad, and having to deal with the ugliness of the world. Kids that are not prepared, correctly, to deal with it, either become selfish or mere victims.
Once again, good work, Nick! Ever thought of doing Pickman's model? One of Lovecraft's more easily readable works, devoid of the usual baroque overtones. In any case, I'm looking forward to whatever you do, whether prose or poetry.
