This is one of the first lovecraft stories I could visualize as I read, I was disturbed for a second afterwards too. Man is brilliant

This was the first H P Lovecraft story I ever recorded, but that copy was on poor quality equipment and only ever heard by one other person. This version is newly recorded today! No special effects - 'that voice' is MY voice! Mwahahahahaaa!

Such a great ending. This has fast become one of my favourite HPL stories. Amorphis necrophagist shadows indeed!

the way lovecraft used all those adjectives to describe the voice on the other end at the end was worth the 15 minutes. the narrator was great. how many times in your life will u hear the word gelatinous?

haha exactly my thought!

althought it would have been awsome to use some kind of sound filter so it felt other worldly and contrast with his natural voice

1 thing about Lovecraft he had a way with words he would adorned each paragraph with the most meticulous words he indeed was an encyclopedia of words

If I may make one request, slow down by about 1/3. Your voice has an excellent timbre but I've always felt Lovecraft should be read at a relaxed tempo. It makes the nameless horror just that much more pronounced.

I'm sure I will do it, but that one needs some character acting so I need to wait until I wake up ready to do it! There's also that er, 'niggling' problem with the name of the cat in the story.

You are one of the best readers I have found so far. There's this other guy named Matthew Knight I come across now and then and when I do, I cry aloud "Damn not you again!" but when I come across a Gisburne reading my reaction is opposite and equal.

@thatdorkking I totally know how you feel. I started listening to audiobooks awhile back and I don't think I'll read too much more if I can help it. I absorb so much more of the story if I listen to it.

H.P. Lovecraft's shortest story and one of his most effective because the horror is left up to our imaginations. What did Warren see? For once, Lovecraft doesn't go on pages and pages to scare us. This is a fine scary story, much better than his endless trecks to Woo-Woo land sci-fi.

The statement of Randolph carter is quite good but my personal favourete is the perfect crime by cs montanye as well as Frederick ć Davises the moon man in the sinnister shpere I was wondering if you could read these two stories from the big book of pulps as a matter of fact why don't you do the third murderer by caroll john dally1898 / 1958which was published in either the march issue of detective fiction weekly or the April issue

Direct quote, great job. But, I must wonder what Warren saw. You did a fantastic job, I only wished that when you said that last part, " you fool, Warren is DEAD!" That your voice would have been much more deep- probably put through a voice synthesizer to sound that way. Just saying.
