I also found out the Guidebooks have a surprisingly big cultural impact in Japan. I was reading random unrelated manga and references to the Portable G2 guidebooks would pop up.

There's also a manga series drawn by hiro mashima, the creator of fairy tail, eden zero and rave master. There are even monsters that are exclusive to that series.

I want and need every single one of these, oh my goodness. The frontier book looks so unbelievably classy and the monster hunter 1 guidebook has a very cool vibe, like it's a book from the world itself. I also enjoy the knowledge that the lore books are in-world perspectives of the researchers since it explains a bunch of stuff, like the Sunbreak gore lore that caused a bunch of dumb discourse.

A trick I learned when using books to prevent the spine of books from breaking is to Open it up and flip the pages from one side to the other from front to back and it helps with spine creases and might help with hard covers as well.

Oh, right of the bat... you had to remind me and show me "IT" Dx that thing hurts my soul... even if I love the lore idea of IT... just the fact that my soul want to try cry in pain when I recall the sight of the darn thing. I knew that Monster hunter had one artbook and a manga, but I did NOT know there were this many wtf!!!!! =and a god damn lorebook?? My love for this series never stops to grow. I just love MH so much. its universe and lore is so big but kinda hidden and unique - u have to dive into it to understand everything. the games gives ya countless hours of playtime and the detail that went into every single monster is just insane. i collect the mh figure builder models and hunt them on places like ebay cuz there is no other way to get the older but high quallity volumes over here in germany. i cant get enough of em lol

I got the World Complete Works for Christmas, and yeah its as good as you say! I hope we can get translations for Iceborne, Rise, and Sunbreak lorebooks at some point too! Another note is there is a Monster Hunter manga named Monster Hunter Orage. I haven't finished it, but its a short 4 volume manga iirc. I'm not sure how it compares to Flash Hunter, but now I kinda want Flash Hunter!

As someone who's read both, Orage is the inferior product. Felt less like monster hunter as a manga and more like a stereotypical shonen anime with a monster hunter coat of paint. Flash Hunter does a better job of being "Monster Hunter" imo, and the art is waaaay better too. Orage is too off model.

For Illustrations and the MHW Book: Any online book store, amazon. Those are pretty available. All the others, you're gonna have to peruse second-hand stores. I used Yahoo Auctions and CDJapan to get most of these :D

Most I have just their English title listed as it will easily show up in Google searches by that title. The few that also have their Japanese title listed is more hit or miss in the Google results. Very much focused on World - you get crumbs about the older games (like comparisons between Old and New World Raths) but i'd say its like 80% info on MHW only

Does the Fatalis bit in the Iceborne book specifically reference the movie or is people just pulling stuff out of thin air? I would see it as more of reference to Dragon’s Dogma with how similar Fatalis is to Grigori. Especially, with the portal like storm that Old Fatalis descends from. Alternatively, it could be referencing the times it has been picked for MH representation in crossovers.
