They let these places get run down, so they are worth less. Then developers buy cheap and sell at hyper-inflated prices. It's a crime.

I actually live on where this estate was, and seeing how it used to be shocks me. All the old houses have been knocked down, the crime rate has decreased dramatically, and nice newly built houses have been built around the whole place. Completely different atmosphere to this video and even looks like a different planet to this. Mad

this is NOT poverty, this ethic, moral and family. i am Afghan, and i can tell, in Afghanistan the most poorest part of it can not see like this. the reasons is people in that country are family orientated, and value, even though they are much much poorer than these people in EU. so please STOP moaning about MONEY MONEY and MONEY, you have plenty money what you don't have is ethic, moral, and family...! most of these kids are from one night stand.. those decent English people who were brought up in close family.. would never allow themselves to do wrong things because of poverty.

How depressing. I feel sorry for decent folk who had no choice but to live there. A similar estate in Hull is in the process of being demolished. Passed it once. You would feel like a sitting duck living there, afraid to leave your house.

Meanwhile the Community Services Director of Liverpool City Council is paid 450K a year. The Council is not shy about spending money on it's own wages.

I feel sorry for the woman at then end... She's actually only 27 years old but living on that estate has clearly taken it's toll!

They're waiting for everyone to move out, so they can knock it down and build a gated paradise.

It is sad. A lot of these low income places have some very nice people living in them and the areas are nice, well kept. Then you get one rotten apple move in and that's it. All the way down from there. They should monitor families in these places. I don't mean spy on them but if they don't keep their area clean, constant complaints about them, give them 2 warnings, if they don't adhere give them the boot. Why should they make the other tenant's lives miserable?

These places have nothing on similar areas in Glasgow.

Living in Liverpool..ive never been to this area..but im told its not like this now in 2018...all big cities have places like this though.. in Liverpool you have the countries best architecture..best waterfront etc..and i can show you houses worth millions of pounds..lovely areas.. There are places falling to bits in London..manchester birmingham..glasgow..bristol..etc..

My nan and grandad live near here and the area has been done up with new houses etc. It's weird watching this film and seeing how different it was just 12 years ago

The city planners should be sacked for allowing a whole estate to get like this. Boarded up houses spread like wildfire in any part of the country. And though the police might feel like they're being asked to parent these kids, ignoring the problem is not acceptable.

My advice if you are a teenager on this estate.Don't listen to any advice from anyone on the estate ,don't take drugs ,when you get to 18 pack your bags get on a train and leave for the south of England.Get a job and a flat and start your life.There is no need to stay.

Pretty rough although I reckon Bentilee in Stoke-on-Trent isn't far behind. It's the largest Council Estate in Europe. Similar kind of awful conditions. They've actually forcefully evicted some of the poorest families (in about 2006), based on plans to rebuild the estate, but the council cut funding, so those houses now sit empty. As you can imagine, there's tonnes of squatters, arsonists and drug dens, tip rats. The genuine residents are being mugged, shot, and robbed by the criminals who have 'moved in'. Politicians? Fucking useless the lot of them.

Those houses are of good solid pre-war construction and with TLC they will last for hundreds of years. They are better built than a lot of the modern jerry-built rubbish of the type where one can hear the neighbours stirring their tea. The problem with "slums" ancient and modern is nearly always the people so bulldozing homes won't help. Take the case of a rough council estate in Plymouth Devon. One of the tenants exercised his right to buy then after the requisite amount of time had elapsed he sold the house. The buyers were a couple who worked in banking and insurance but as most of the people on the estate were on the dole, the new owners automatically became hate figures. Allegedly the hassle started off with "keying" cars and deflating tyres. Next came broken windows. Finally a pile of old firewood was stacked against their front door and lit whilst they were at work. The Fire Service put out the fire and saved the house but the Police advised the couple to move immediately and not to go back but instead go and live somewhere else. The couple had to board-up the property and abandon it. One can surmise that they would still be paying a mortgage and Council Tax on a property that was of no use to them and presumably they would have also had to pay hotel bills. I was not told which estate it was but I suspect that it was The Swillies which was so bad that the council renamed it. The new name is North Prospect but allegedly the "rth" is superfluous! Take care!

That woman describing her living hell at 4.50 sadly goes into one ear and out the other for so many people who wouldn’t understand it so don’t care and more than likely don’t believe her and think she’s on the blag for extra dole or a new house, she isn’t. It’s a shocking state of affairs all over the UK my cousin was a shaking shitting mess for months and the council didn’t care a jot then moved her a massive 0.3 miles across the estate in a different bungalow surrounded by the same people - and she’s a little game popular fucker so the ones who are basically vulnerable adults have no chance it’s time more was done; the piss taking ones are beyond visible to spot and deny help the councils know who needs help they just don’t give it

Liverpools actually one of the safest cities in the uk this year. the estate got demolished and was re-done and has won a award for prestige now!Tip for Manchester become incredibly sh*t and they’ll fix you.
