This is by far the nerdiest but the BEST detailed snowboarding channel in terms of breaking down the intricacy of parts of snowboarding gears as well as stances. Your channel will 1000000% be the channel I go to for boots and stances and hopefully more in future!

My check list. Great fit (obviously) - I typically need to heat-mould just for my left foot as it's longer than my right. Dual Boa (lower and upper part of the boot controlled separately) Very very stiff. A sole that has good grip for hiking.

I bought botega rome and I love them for the fit but the footprint is crazy... my foot is 24,5 cm long. I wear a 25,5cm boots (women EU40) size, I simply couldnt fit in a smaller boot idk. And the foot print is 30,5cm, that is crazy....

I stumbled upon your videos a few weeks ago and I’ve found your content incredibly helpful and insightful. I’ve been riding for 22 years but I only get to ride about 10 times a year, so I learn things and then subsequently forget those things, whether that’s technique or gear. I just switched this year from free ride and double posi to an asym twin and duck stance. I just wanted to learn how to do more play riding now that I’m riding with my kids rather than charging the mountain-it’s all snowboarding and we should all be tolerant of other styles, we already get enough hate from the skiers on the mountain.

Hello. I have a big question about boots&bindings: assuming the boot fits well the foot, how important is it to have a combo boot&binding that have been developed together ??

Fantastic video. Keep them coming. On the K2 boot reference....I think it may depend on the model....the ones I own do seem to tighten completely independently on the two Boas...eg. the top Boa cord starts above the ankle....I can leave that one super loose for snowsurf days with a locked down foot.

The Insano’s already come with intuition liners, any particular reason you’d go with a different intuition liner than the one it comes with?
@Justaride-Snowboard-Channel
@Justaride-Snowboard-Channel 9 месяцев назад
Great question! ANY company in snowboarding who uses Intuition foam in their liner mixes it with other foam. As an example, Thirty Two used to have the highest content of Intuition foam but have reduced the amount in most of their boots about two years ago with reason being: better out of the box fit! This is very silly!! Out of the box fit sells the boot in the shop and leads to issues after a week of riding.... Liners have become squishy and comfortable all across the board. That's something for people who only ride 5 days a year - and there's nothing wrong with that!! But then boots shouldn't cost $600.00...... The Insano liner has about 50% Intuition foam. It's a great liner. My feet are a little difficult and I get better results for fit with a liner that is 100% intuition and therewith much more moldable. Hope that helps!

@@Chasingsteeze Go with the Dual Density liners!! High Density (HD) is no good for overly sensitive feet!! Definitely get a boot fitter to determine liner size so you pick the right length and volume for your boot. All the best!

@@Justaride-Snowboard-Channelif we don’t have a good boot fitter to assist with the liner choice is there a way we can do it ourselves? I constantly have foot pain and am trying different boots but this is a costly exercise. Boots feel good in the shop but while riding I get serious foot pain.
@Justaride-Snowboard-Channel
@Justaride-Snowboard-Channel 4 дня назад
@@chooseboost start with a visit to a podiatrist!! Most common thing with foot pain is arch problems. The added pressure through the ankle straps makes things very unnatural for your feet….. they get flattened out!! Otherwise, the Intuition homepage offers good advice on picking liner size and thickness.

I got dual Boas for my first (and currently only) snowboard boots. Unfortunately the side discs on BOTH my boots have broken while riding tight trees in the span of only a little over 1 season. Luckily the spare kit I ordered had two side discs so the second time wasn't terrible (I was carrying the spare at the resort). I won't be getting Boas again.

Watch part #1 of this series. Measure foot in cm. Buy boots in that mondo point size with a 'one finger shell fit'. If too small, buy equivalent mondo size aftermarket liner in a low volume. (Intuition liners). Good luck!

Love your channel! I have watched many of your videos with my daughter, who will be competing in next year's LBS. I have spent the last 3 weeks struggling to find new boots. I have narrow, low volume feet. Most recently I have used Burton Photons and Ions. In order to get them to fit, I buy 1 finger fit shells (maybe a bit smaller), I use the yellow Burton J-bars, boot narrowing foam, and shims under the liners. Even with those adjustments, I still end up pulling the laces so tight that the plastic guides break or become unstitched. I also crank my binding straps down so hard that I'm wearing size 11 boots with medium Cartel Xs, but I have the straps almost on the shortest setting and I have to loosen my bindings between every run. Generally, I like a stiffer, responsive boot that will last a season or two. I ride about 60 days a season. I like going fast, carving hard, snow surf carving, banked slaloms, halfpipe, and all mountain freestyle with side hits. I like a stiffer, supportive boot that still allows me to flex my ankles to steer. After all of my searching and trying boots on, I found K2 Ortons and Ride Insanos to fit the best. I like the K2 Ortons slightly softer flex, but the K2 Ortons don't fit well in my Burton Cartels Xs and the K2 footprint gives me more overhang than I like, strangely more in the heel area. I really like how the Ride Insanos fit and they match up well with the Burton Cartel Xs, but they feel extremely stiff. The Burton Ions started out too stiff, but softened up after about 5 - 10 days of riding to where I felt comfortable using my ankles. Although, the Ions probably softened up a bit too much, because they don't have an articulating cuff. My big question is, will the Ride Insanos flex soften up like the Burton Ions? Will they break in enough to be able to flex my ankles and feel comfortable in the halfpipe, tight banked slaloms, trees, etc. Thank you!

@@Justaride-Snowboard-Channel Thank you for the quick reply! I know it's hard to tell, but will it take more than 10 days of riding to soften the Insanos? Will I be frustrated until that point? I am having a hard time finding a boot without too much volume, but the right amount of flex and footprint. Maybe I'm trying too hard to find the perfect boot. Here's the pros and cons of each boot for me: Ride Insanos - Great fit, great footprint, matches Cartel Xs well, but a bit stiffer than I would like. K2 Ortons- Good fit, good flex, but longer footprint and doesn't match well with the Cartel Xs. It comes down to which is going to be the easiest con to deal with I guess. Any thoughts? I also looked at the Ride Lasso Pros, but they seem to have a bit more volume to try to fill, they are a little softer than I like, and I'm not sure I like the single boa for the outside. Thank you for your help!

Volume depends on your shell fit. Liner model itself is now basically just a choice between wrap vs. tongue and dual- vs. high density. I rock dual density low volume (9mm foam thickness) tongue liners and an old pair of the FX-Race liners. I have a one finger shell fit.

Hi Lars. . Very informative and good content. I have a question about stiffness/flex, througout the set up: board, bindning, boot.. I understand that it is personal , but do you have any input on different flex and pros/cons on this subject: Stif board - stif boots - stif bindning Stif board - medium boots - stif bindning Stif board - stif boots - medium bindning. And so on. What mix is bad in sertain conditions and witch set ups are better?
@Justaride-Snowboard-Channel
@Justaride-Snowboard-Channel 6 месяцев назад
It is indeed entirely subjective and difficult, since we can't even agree on what a stiff board/boot/binding is...... I constantly talk to people 80 lbs heavier than me telling me how stiff a certain board is that I find pretty mellow.... In general I'd say it makes sense to avoid stiff board with soft boot/bindings and vice versa. Everything stiff is also not that great, because it's just overly responsive. But if you race... well that might be what you want.... So really, try and error! I'm seemingly on stiff boards with a stiff boot and a medium binding. I can't ride super stiff bindings, because the high backs just hurt. A NOW Drive Pro with an 8/10 flex is really more of a 7/10, and that's my binding of choice.
