It has been 1 second without Deepwoken. I have not been able to slice up and gank freshies now, and it’s taking a toll on me. I pace around my room sweating, craving the thing that I want, no, that I NEED the most. Deepwoken. I hear voices in my head. It’s the depths, it requires an offering. I stumble out of my room. My mother looks annoyed at me as I pass down the hallway. “I haven’t seen you in days, Paul, I’m worried about you.” I must have bad rep with her, when I get back I’ll use a few notes to clear it. Ignoring her voice, I sprint outside and down the road to my school. I see several young children playing on the playground. Freshies. I run at speed towards them, ignoring their cries of fear. I use my mother’s kitchen knife to grip all of them, then I stand up panting. I must be close to powering up with all of that XP. Behind me I hear a voice. “Freeze!” I look over to see a man in blue looking at me, gun raised. Damn it. A flintlock user, that’s busted. I run over at him, holding my knife aloft. I wish I had a heavy weapon but that will have to do. I hear three booms, and without warning I look down to see blood spilling down from my chest, several wounds lining my body. That idiot didn’t know I was close to powering up, and then I’d kick his ass. My vision goes blurry as I slump over, no longer being able to stand. I don’t have a campfire, shit. As the inky darkness creeps in on my vision, I fall into the cold embrace of the depths once more.
