In the scene where Marie was killed Jason was originally driving but he and Marie switched places. Thus, when Kirill shoots he aims for the driver thinking it is Bourne. Knowing that he shot the driver and seeing the vehicle crash into the river, Kirill assumes with what he considers high certainty that Bourne is dead. I look forward to your reaction to "The Bourne Ultimatum".
i think he knew he shot her, which is why he was making sure jason didn't surface. when he didn't, he just assumed he drowned. he may have been aiming for the driver, thinking it was him, but you'd think he would have seen that they switched places when he took the shot. since most people can't hold their breath for 5+ minutes, it was safe to assume he was dead.
This Trilogy is a timeless classic, you can watch it dozens of times and it will always be a fantastic action series. I say trilogy because the 4th one has nothing to do with the 3 they just tagged it on the end to jack up the sales.
The Bourne Supremacy is the greatest of all time. Such realism, grittiness and down to earth film that really takes us on the journey with Bourne. Let me not get started on the soundtrack…. I could speak about it for daysssss
that scene was insane. when she says "we should be a step ahead of him." while he's 10 steps ahead of them and in position to kill them if he wanted. and if he really wanted, he could have waited for them to leave and booby trapped the place and got all of them when they returned the next day.
12:05 "You didn't check very well." He really didn't need to. He saw Bourne driving the car. A minute later he put a bullet through the driver's head. He saw the hit, the crash, and nobody came up. But most importantly, he knows his bullet killed the driver. The only part he couldn't know was that Jason and Marie switched seats in the middle of a high-speed pursuit.
Great reaction, as always. This is my favorite of the trilogy, though I know that is a minority opinion. The third is excellent too, but the fight in the apartment is my favorite fight in the series. Bumping into the blinds was accidental, according to the director’s commentary, but the clatter was so electric that the director kept it in and added more bumps during the fight. In addition, the visit with the Nevski girl is my favorite scene in the series, beautifully underplayed in the writing and the acting, and profoundly moving.
Appreciate the way you cover such a wide variety of different genres on the channel, plus all of the hard work that goes into editing these videos. Great job, Madison.
Great reaction, Madison. You can definitely see the big influence the Bourne movies had on Daniel Craig era Bond movies. Thank goodness the shaky cam fight scene is mostly a thing of the past - no one wants to come out of a movie with headache and nausea.
TEAM BOURNE❤ this whole franchise is ridiculous in plot. there was a SUPER SOLDIER classified project in UK in the 1990s where elite soldiers were experimented on. R&D using drugs and brainwave alteration with ability to wipe their memories. In a sense create a super soldier with muktiple powers. An ex soldiier surfaced and was intervuewed and wanted to blow the whistle. His consciousness was awakened during the experiments and he had nany visionary and osychic abilities. An interview surfaced on youtube we used to love and it has since been taken down. Amazing stuff . I dont want to say anything more .
I was just kidding about doing the third one in 2026, don’t take too long, it basically happens right after this one... in a way, you’ll see. Great reaction 👍🏼
I can't, every time i see him or hear his name i get, "Matt Damon", from Team America playing in my head, and anything he's in turns to nonsense. Absolutely hilarious, your mileage may vary!
31:56 "There is the famous Moscow landmark in every movie." Saint Basil's Cathedral. Showing that for movies in Moscow is like showing the Golden Gate Bridge for movies in San Francisco - it must be done. Cinematographers cannot resist the temptation. Also, it is useful for establishing the location. But mostly, it's just so we can say "Oooh, look at the landmark." I do it. My wife eats it up; she's in the travel industry and landmarks are her life.
Madison, If you’ve never seen the last three Star Trek movies, Karl Urban plays Dr McCoy so well, it’s amazing. You really should check out those movies. Pam is played by Joan Allen and, if you’ve never seen, Pleasantville, she’s wonderful in it. She a completely different person. I don’t think anyone has reacted to Pleasantville yet, not that I’ve seen, anyway.
The boure Supremacy is my favorite in the franchise. By the way, the russian sniper did not see Bourne & Mary switching seats and he took a shot at the driver's seat thinking it was Jason.
Hahaha… Around 16:02 you said: “Not anymore.” with an absolutely perfect Inspector Clouseau accent. Like from the Piano scene in Pink Panther. Oh, that made me laugh. Cheers Girl.
'Lilya 4-ever' is a movie I recommend. (Original title 'Lilja 4-ever') It stars Oksana Akinshina, that played the Neski girl. If you watch it, I also recommend a box of tissues to catch the tears.
My pick for : - Greatest spy film ever made - Greatest car chase ever filmed - Greatest ending to an action film ever, full of melancholy and political disenchantment during the height of the War on Terror. Many have tried to copy Paul Greengrass and they have mostly failed. A stunning achievement. For the love of god, do not wait years to watch the wonderful third film!
Just wait. Ultimatum is crazy. You really got into this. It was great watching figure out what was going on. The scene with girl where he tells her about her parent was fantastic. I thought it was great that they put that in the storyline. Y'all be safe.
Hello Madison K. Thames, I just thought of two Westerns that you may view. They are " Theb Unforgiven (1960) and The Big Country ( 1958) ". As is often shouted in unison upon the streets of Kyoto, Japan: " Hey! " RU-vid video: 2017.3.26京都橘高校吹奏楽部京都さくらパレード交款コンサートパーカッション
The sniper who killed Marie: Karl Urban, Bones on the J J Abrams' Star Trek. ...which you mentioned at the end. Also LoTR, as you said. and Thor:Ragnarok, btw.
Thank you for doing this one, Madison, I did wonder if you were ever going to return to the 'Bourne' films or not, I look forward to seeing your reaction to the next in the series too.
i didn't recognize karl urban either the first time i saw this movie in the theaters. i think he lost a lot of weight which is why his face seems so slender - it's like his assassin character is a nocturnal animal that doesn't eat or sleep much ;). even though 'bourne ultimatum' is the most popular of the trilogy, 'supremacy' has always been my sentimental favorite. also, i DO recommend watching the renner sequel 'bourne legacy' which i think is greatly underrated. great reaction!
I don’t know that he lost weight, it’s just that he was a skinny younger man back then. He was barely into his 30s and had only just gotten some bigger roles (LOTR mainly).
Speaking of recognizable actors: The zip tie guy was also the villain Teddy in "The Equalizer" with Denzel. The "I hate that guy" guy (Ward) was the original Hannibal Lecktor in "Manhunter" (1986). Both are excellent movies, recommended. "Manhunter" was done by the guy who did the original "Miami Vice" series, and it has a similar cinematic style and soundtrack. It was also remade as "Red Dragon" but I think that William Peterson as Will Graham in the original was the better character.
What if I can't find her? It's easy. She standing next to you. The voice in the back of Landy's head said... Uh oh. I have all of the Bourne episodes and like them all.
Good reaction. Carl Urban is also very good in RED. He is specializing in action movies apparently. Star Trek, Bourne Supremacy and the Willis flick, RED. I'm not sure what else. I'm looking forward to your next Bourne experience.
39:43 Yeah, the last conversation they had was Jason saying he has no choice but to go after them and kill them, and Marie telling him that he does have a choice.
Good reaction. I liked the way you displayed shock/surprise . I look forward to the future installments. The fourth is with Jeremy Renner the fifth has Matt Damon coming back as Jason Bourne.
Wow. Two years ago. Who'da thunk it. Congrats on making it here. Yep, go ahead and make that wild a** guess,'WAG.' The worst that can happen is your off target. The timeline in #3 will surprise you. #4 is a next gen production, and #5 is in Jason's future. I wish we had more of Jason and Nicky story. Maybe someday we will. Peace out
There are currently 5 movies in the series. The latest is Jason Bourne and is supposed to be Matt Damon's swan song as Jason Bourne. They are looking to continue the series using new characters. They were intending to try a new series with Jeremy Renner but his other obligations have made his furthering in the role impossible.
@@johnwjr7 Legacy was intended to be the the fourth film staring Matt Damon. Everything was in place to start it when first Greengrass and then Damon backed out at the last minute. This caused the major shift in character and story of Legacy. Jason Bourne used the basic storyline that was originally intended for Legacy.
The most unbelievable part of the whole movie is the very end of the car chase when Bourne opens the car door. Anyone who has ever been in any minor fender bender knows the driver door is always jammed shut.
I started watching your reaction but got interrupted, just finished watching it. This is an extremely well acted and directed trilogy. Kudos to all the stunt workers who get so easily overlooked in action films. Your commentary and summary are always well done. Thanks a bunch for all your hard work.
11:07 as much as I love this movie, when I saw this part in the theater when I was 12, I was like “Bro… she was shot in the head and killed instantly. What’s the point of giving her mouth-to-mouth??” Like I felt horrible that Marie died and felt horrible for him, but I was also so confused about what he was doing right there lol
If you read the books (which are far better) Marie does not die until much, much later in the series. The "dude you don't like and never have" is also different in the books, later. He is ruthless at the beginning but after he finds out about the amnesia, he becomes friends with Bourne, even helps him out quite a bit. My favorite line (as it probably is most people): "It's easy, she's standing right next to you".
Really enjoyed your reaction/review of this. For a less known Karl Urban centric film, check out The Chronicles of Riddick, where he plays the main antagonist, a necromancer, opposite Vin Diesel. Has some other well known actors in it like Judi Dench, Thandie Newton, and Linus Roach, of Law & Order. It’s a surprisingly good film, one of my guilty pleasures.
LOL! And a lot has happened in those two years. Perspective makes a difference, doesn't it? This was fun, and the reminiscing too. Good one, Madison! 🙂
Great reaction!! Definitely worth going forward with the rest of the series. Watch ultimatum, then legacy with Jeremy Renner right after. They actually play out in parallel, well done
The third is very worth the watch. There are others in the series... one without "Bourne" is still ok, but there is at least one more with Matt Damon and it is also definitely worth watching IMHO.
I’m enjoying your enthusiasm for the story and the genre. In case you didn’t know, Robert Ludlum’s books read at very much, the same pace as the movies. I would find myself leaning forward as I read trying to keep up with the pace of the written word. I see “The Osterman Weekend” was also made as a movie but I’ve never seen it. Looking forward to the next one, cheers.
"They fridged her"!?? Never heard that one. Pam is awesome! She needs her own movie 🍿🎥 I've recommended these movies to friends and such I keep getting " Not a Mat Damon fan"! I don't understand why? Anyway Great Reaction Mad!! Looking forward to the next! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Karl Urban is great acting in the series The Boys.. plays such a gritty complex character and really shows a range of emotions and physicality as an actor .. love sharing reactions with you .. your analysis is always so in depth
I enjoy your reactions and wish you continued success with your channel. I'm glad you are enjoying the Bourne sage. I hope you will consider the Jeremy Renner film, "The Bourne Legacy" (2012), which also stars Rachel Weisz. I think it is the best of them all and would certainly enjoy your reaction to it and your opinion of the film. Also, let me put a plug in for a John Ford western I dearly love, and I hope, if you haven't seen it, you will love also. It is "The Horse Soldiers" (1959) starring John Wayne, William Holden, and Constance Benning. It is a sweeping Civil War saga that is actually based on a real incident where a Union Calvary unit made a raid into the South. It is a great, sweeping story and has all the elements a great film should have. If you haven't seen it, I envy you watching it for the first time. It's a wonderful movie and you will love it - I promise. All the Best - Kenton Couch
"Never say you look tired to a woman". I wish women would understand the spirit this is said with. It's not meant to mock or embarrass. It's meant to express sympathy. And frankly "looking tired" does not take away from your attractiveness, if that is what you're concerned about.
Also - Why 'Never say you look tired to a woman', instead of 'Never say you look tired to a person'? Toxic feminism is unfortunately so very much accepted in the general public, that it sneaks in so easily.
The Bourne Legacy is pretty good and worth a watch. It's definitely the fourth movie in the trilogy, if you know what I mean, but that is mostly a good thing. It does a lot of back-filling and world-building, which is interesting, and all the actors are great in their roles. However, Jason Bourne, the fifth movie, is a waste of time and effort. It cares infinitely more about cinematography and stunts than about the plot.
I am not gonna lie: When Jason had the chance to kill the murderer of the love of his life and he didn´t, I was so dissapointed and angry. I still am. Humanity or not: An innocent woman was killed in cold blood, if that was the love of my life...
I hate how they killed off Marie like first thing. I guess the writers couldn’t think of a way to keep her in the story. There is a fourth film with Damon called just “Jason Bourne” and it finds him in a really dark place and he needs him some Marie, he’s really missing that I think Lol, but again, hanging with Bourne can be hazardous to your health I guess as we see.
20:15 "I want to know what was the endgame of Treadstone." There was no endgame. That's a bit like asking "I want to know the endgame of why the US Army trains all those soldiers." Treadstone was a secret group within the CIA that trained assassins using some kind of brainwashing methodology that turned them into, well, superheroes almost - they can fight, shoot, infiltrate, speak languages, have perfect memory (except when they have amnesia) and are so deadly that even Chuck Norris is afraid of them. Why? So when the CIA wanted to kill somebody (hopefully bad people in bad countries working against the United States), they would have these super assassins to do it. I'm pretty sure the CIA does this in real life, except for the almost magical training that makes superhero assassins; probably the CIA just has normal assassins. But ultimately that is illegal. Even if the president himself orders an assassination, every other country would consider that a crime. So they would all keep it secret. Even other CIA agents and bosses would not know about the secret assassins because, well, it's secret and the people running it don't want to go to prison for being murderers. That's why Treadstone's bosses are hiding what they did and tying up loose ends - to stay out of prison.
Friendly warning to keep you oriented... part of the events of the third movie already happened in this movie. If you pay attention you would figure out which parts. Good luck, you look tired. 😉
I wonder, is this type of action thrillers in your resume'? Writers minds are truly fascinating so I always want to know how they think. Is it usually genre specific or are you flexible? Great movie and equally great reaction. Ultimatum might be even better, or just as good. Looking forward to that!
