I ranked them 1. Ultimatum, 2. Supremacy, 3. Identity, 4. Bourne Legacy, 5. Jason Bourne. Bourne Legacy has really grown on me over the years, and is closer to Identity (to me) than it is to Jason Bourne, which... should not have been made.

I don’t remember anything specific about his memory in the Bourne Ultimatum. Just that his training was very intense psychologically. My guess as to why he lost his memory is a combination of the psychological impact of his training, him ‘breaking’ when he he saw the children as he was about to kill Wombosi, and him getting shot and passing out.

Asia/BJ if the answer has not been given yet. Asia should know in the first film Jason mission was to kill Wombozi but his kids were sleeping beside him, jason could not kill along with his children, jason was shot before he jumped off the boat, that was the reason he developed the amnesia and why he couldn't remember all of his past life . Everything you need to know about Jason Bourne is explained in the Bourne Ultimatum. EVERYTHING. He does get his memory back. He lost his memory because he was shot, and jumped off the boat into the cold water. This caused him to likely go into shock, and possible hypothermia from the cold. Hypothermia is known to make you forget basic things. In the book, its described as the "Bourne Identity" took over when he goes into Fight or Flight mode. Also the Russian Assassin in this movie is an FSB agent. Which is what used to be KGB. So that is why the Russian cops left him alone.

In the first film Bourne has to kill a man on a boat. He hesitates when he sees the target's kids and gets attacked. He jumps off the boat and when he's found (the very beginning), he has amnesia and forgets he's a govt trained killer. The film is him trying to figure out why he has a conscience but also terrible memories. In the second, Bourne's old boss is scared his corruption and Bourne's connection to it will be discovered. Bourne's first job was killing Netski in Berlin and wasn't govt business, it was this corruption. So the boss pays his old contact in Russia to kill him. He frames Bourne with a murder in Berlin (the fingerprint) to bring him out of hiding and when Bourne hears Berlin, he's confused and remembers the first job that Nikki, his old contact, has no knowledge of. Mourning, Bourne wants to destroy Treadstone but all that remains is his old boss. The people after him now because of the frame-up are new and know nothing of it. Bourne figures this out. Third film is Bourne really figuring out who he is and is well worth it. Great reaction. :)

Watch the "Bourne Identity" again, it explains how he lost his memory after he got shot on the boat. He's supposed to kill Wombosi but he had his children with him and it effd up Jason's head. They did NOT wipe his memory; he just blocked out the trauma.
@sundalangur3250
@sundalangur3250 Месяц назад
Just to add to your comment. He got shot in the back and fell in (what was probably) ice cold water. Who knows how long he was in that water. A lot of people have been documented having cognitive issues after exposure to similar conditions.

Knew you’d love it! These Bourne films are excellent! Just the chase scenes alone are worth the price of admission. Treadstone is/was a sub-project, secret program they were running that Bourne was recruited for. It will make even more sense when you watch The Bourne Ultimatum, which is every bit as thrilling as the first two. Enjoy!
@JayStar-yj9pu
@JayStar-yj9pu 4 месяца назад
This film has the best definition played out of a total 100% coincidence! They open the movie with bad guys framing Bourne in Berlin. When those chasing him think of Berlin, it is this. Thru the film, Bourne hears Berlin and since he wasn't there in the frame, his mind begins peeling away the layers of his first off the books mission, which years earlier was also in Berlin. So one event is unrelated to the other but we get to see both sides play out this misunderstanding until the truth is revealed...

So, it's funny hearing Bourne mention the Russian he saw in India and saying "He's all WRONG!". The Treadstone agent he later fought in his own house, also appears years later as the Russian detective who hunts Denzel Washington in The Equalizer. After they meet and talk, the Russian tells his crew "He is all WRONG!" (McCall) 😎
@tijnusbeatz120
@tijnusbeatz120 4 месяца назад
That's crazy, because I'm startin' to think Equalizer may have stolen more lines from other movies for the bad guy. Do you know when The Wolf says in Pulp Fiction, "I'm not here to say please, I'm here to tell you what to do" the russian in Equalizer, who is also a clean up guy like The Wolf in Pulp Fiction says the same phrase in the movie.

Please do Bourne Ultimatum, followed by The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner, then to top it off do Jason Bourne. Btw, two actors in here were also in Lord Of The Rings. I suggest the film Doom with The Rock and Karl Urban based upon the popular computer game from the 90's.

BJ nailed it at the end there. I think one of the important points of this middle film is character development. Jason going through hell and high water just to try to make some sort of amends to one of his victims is such an emotional bomb blast and highlights that despite his training he's still human. Don't leave it too long before you watch Ultimatum - it's probably important to watch 2 and 3 close together so you don't forget anything about the plot - more so than with 1 and 2..

Bourne Ultimatum, next in this series, is my favorite. Thanks for reacting to this.

He goes to see Neski's daughter because he destroyed her life. Not only did he kill both her parents but he took away the love they had for each other and for her daughter. At the beginning of the movie he's just angry. He wants revenge and he wants to know why Marie had to die. He's essentially trying to process Marie's death. At some point he realizes he's no different from the man that took Marie from him, taking other people's lives, blindly following orders. He also realizes that's not who he wants to be and it's not who Marie would want him to be. That's why he goes from killing the other guy from Treadstone (but not liking what he sees in the mirror when he washes off the blood from his hands), to threatening Nicky Parsons (but letting her go when he sees how scared she is), to leaving Abbott alive after getting a confession from him ("She wouldn't want me to. It's the only reason you're alive."), to even letting Marie's murderer live after crashing his car. By the end of the movie he's trying to make amends and be the person Marie would want him to be. That's why he tries to give Neski's daughter some closure by telling her the truth. The idea of his father killing her mother and then committing suicide must have been tormenting her since she was a child so, as hurtful as this moment might be, it will make her realize that her parents loved each other just like they loved her. That will help her heal. At that point, Jason also sort of needed someone to talk to about Marie's death, even if it was indirectly, someone that can understand him. With Marie gone, he has no one. This moment gives him closure.

I got the notification that y'all posted this reaction to the 2nd installment, and it was definitely worth the wait. I felt about the same as BJ felt after watching this for the first time haha. It took a minute for me to process what all had happened and what I watched which goes to show how great the acting is because I forgot Jason Bourne was a fictional character that Matt Damon so portrayed so well. Can't wait for y'all to see the final installment. This movie reaction was awesome!!! Sending y'all positive vibes!!! Peace and love!! P.S. I would love to answer y'all's questions, but it's not that kind of trilogy my friends. Y'all gotta wait and see what happens next.

The Bourne series is such an exciting ride. Better than James Bond or Mission Impossible for me. Love the story line. Matt Damon is the Supreme. Love BJ wiggling in his seat and so involved in the movie. I would love to watch action movies LIVE with you guys.

I really love watching you guys. The first three movies are all great. Some people hate the shaky cam but I don’t care about it. After the three, there is “The Bourne Legacy” which doesn’t have Matt Damon but stars Jeremy Renner and Rachael Weisz (from The Mummy). It has a lot more background about Treadstone. I think it is one of my favorite action movies. The last one is Jason Bourne. I think it’s the worst of the series. Maybe a “B” movie.

Amnesia ... In the FIRST movie, when Jason realizes what he was doing to people (assination, seeing Wombosi's kids, etc.). It's the reason he wants to atone to all his victims' loved ones.
