Trying to find the right adapted mountain bike it's pretty tough. This is my first go and it was a surprise with unexpected outcomes.

You'll be whipping that thing in no time. Get the right levers for brake and throttle and you'll be off road before Caroline wants you to. Keep wheelin Jaime!

Looks well tripping mate, probably more fun to be had with it down the line 😀

Yes Krupa. It was frustrating that I couldn’t do more but I was pretty happy by the time I left the school yard with how much had learned. Gives me some incentive to keep building my upperbody.

@@DeterminedMTBiker Yeah it looked well tricky but your persistence paid off :)

The RIG costs less than a third of the price of this device. No reverse and the RIG does have one. This is difficult to get your first leg up and over the steering bars, but the RIG is much easier to get into. Utah Trikes does a great job building the RIG.

You might think some dampers or springs on the tilt mechanism would help keep a rider from going beyond the point of balance.. This still seems to be a machine that you will need a able bodied rider to tag along, just in case you roll over on a trail.. You don't want to lay there for hours/days before someone comes along and notices that you are stuck.

Hey thanks for checking out the video. Yes a little bit more engineering for a quadriplegic would be nice. Even my friend who helped me test and is very athletic and able-bodied was riding along the road at a 15° angle. And to be honest at the moment, I'm still early in my injury, I wouldn't want to be out on my own regardless of the vehicle! Stay safe and thanks for checking in. Hope you find some of the other videos interesting.

Can't work out how to send a private comment. I'm quadriplegic in New Zealand on a similar journey. Try to find the ultimate mountain bike experience. I've purchased the bowhead reach recently and am actively working on modifications to get the hang controls sorted. Making good progress with that and writing skills are developing as well. I'm keen to get in touch privately somehow

Thanks so much for checking out the video 🤘🏼. So awesome that you are riding the reach. I just couldn't activate enough core strength to support me. Would really love to see if I can in a year. Now I'm waiting for my Sport On Jee trike which is great but not really as capable on single track for example. Would be great to connect so why not use this link . I haven't updated my site for years but...chelagroove.com/contact-form/

The way it steers is so odd. I'm sure it would become second nature after a while. Wasn't a massive fan of the control setup to be fair. I can imagine it being murder on the chest muscles to pull back upright if it goes over to the side.

Yes very difficult for a tetraplegic. Very confusing too but maybe I can learn some new skills

Cool Adam. I guess you’ve already had a demo?
@P100KLE

@@DeterminedMTBiker I haven’t.. although my eyes have had the demo on RU-vid for ages and I need one in my life.my intentions are to get it for getting up the mountains in the Lake District as that’s where I live. Not sure if I’d be agile enough to be doing MTB trails but I guess I could see how I develop. Are you getting one yourself?

I would definitely recommend trying one out if you’re not sure. I used cyclone mobility. I believe they have an agreement with the manufacturer to import now. They were really good at coming and seeing me and providing a demo for free. This showed me that right now there is no way I could ride that beast. It’s just too much for a quadriplegic in my current condition. I’ve now tried out the Jee Trike from Sport On. I used CIC experience and had a go at Leeds urban bike park. It’s not going to be as sophisticated on single track as it’s a little too wide. However it tilts enough that it can take berms really well and has active front suspension with three shocks. The bow head has only one shock in the rear but articulate so much more and I couldn’t safely keep it upright on my own in my current condition. Might review in a few years time but for now I’ve settled on what I’m after. If you definitely decide to go after the bow head then I recommend speaking to them directly in the US. The mark up from cyclone seems really steep. Yes you’ll have to deal with importing however I figured it actually isn’t that complicated if you get the right forms and check in with customs on right to import without paying VAT and excise.

@@DeterminedMTBiker yeah I contacted bowhead because obviously I might form Canada was going to be an arm and a leg to get to my door. At the time cyclone had only just started importing. Gonna be $2000 for shipping. I didn’t know where to get the VAT relief and they pointed me to them being one to get all that done. Using someone’s Name affiliate can get 10% off too. Think after spec the order out was gonna be like £18k 🤢 but it would open so many doors.

Yes the bow head is pretty pricey. The trike I tried out with CIC was awesome and they’ve just quoted me £10,660 with operated motor 750 watts spare battery and custom colour paint job. I think it’s comparatively good value for an adapted bike. I’m working on securing three grants from three different charities at the moment.

Hey Cecil. Merry Christmas 🎄 Thanks for dropping by and checking out the channel. I’m a quadriplegic and still a keen mountain biker. The rig is a big bit of kit and I like the work he put into it but it’s not for me. I wanted something a little more like a MTB or capable of doing as close to single track as possible, in the end I’ve ordered the sport on Jee Trike From Poland. It gives me some cross country action, a little bit of descending, some cardiovascular exercise and electric assist. Thanks for the tip on Utah trikes and Triot too. Good luck for the New Year and enjoy your rides🤘🏼
