Really love how this doesn’t feel like a movie trailer for a present day film. As it doesn’t spoil the film, it’s not overly long, it doesn’t tell you any sort of important details that lazily/easily foreshadows an important event (ie. spoil). It just shows various aspects of the film will see the whimsical, the horror, the wonder and the grotesque. In order to understand how they fit together you’ll have to buy a ticket and figure it out the rest.

@Erwin009 Your stupid comment was the exact reason and deliberate intention as to why Studio Ghibli didn't promote the movie whatsoever. With social media on the rise and people like yourself who are quick to judge, the minimalistic approach to this promotion of this movie was to allow fans and viewers to make discussions about the movie without any bias criticisms and opinions prior to premiere of the film. There's the saying ; "Don't judge a book by its cover", and the fact that the movie didn't even hit the theatres worldwide, you're already quick to judge.

As an elementary art teacher, whenever I show my young students Totoro or Ponyo, they are just mesmerized. I’ve taught long enough that I can tell some of my students’ parents grew up with Miyazaki films, because more kids are recognizing his work when I show it. The united states military is using technology and manpower to protect deviant sadistic Child SAers that are misusing their access to advanced tools to spy on, harass, and forcibly SA children.This sometimes follows them into adulthood. Children that are still too young to know that what they are seeing is not normal are being exposed to disgusting deviant content that is forcibly shown to them by hacking their devices. Many victims may not even know they have been targeted by this, because the majority of the actual SA happens when they are slipped something that incapacitates them or they are asleep, the only reason they might know is because the perpetrator may leave behind physical evidence, like bruises, scratches, or bodily fluids. If a victim discovers what has happened to them these worms will misuse equipment and manpower to stalk, shame, mock, and generally try to make the lives of the people affected by this as hellish as possible both offline and online. They follow victims in person and try to intimidate or harass them. They generally use different people who act as though they aren't affiliated with each other and don't do anything they can be arrested for at the time of the harassment. They think they can shame and mock their victims into silence because some of what happens is coerced. These are depraved cowards that gather in groups to harass solitary women and children to protect deviant SAers

I can see why Miyazaki didn’t want a trailer for this movie, because he wanted us to go in knowing absolutely nothing about what’s in the movie. I've never felt such a deep mixture of wonder, excitement, and dread from a trailer before. Knowing that this is Miyazaki's last film (although he has "retired" multiple times in the past, so we can't be certain this will truly be his last one, but it looks pretty final to me) gives me such a painful stab of nostalgia knowing that his career is coming to an end. It makes me reflect on how old I am, being almost 30 and having loved his movies since I was a child. I'm actually afraid for this movie, because I don't want to know that it's all coming to an end. Too many things and too many legends from my childhood have either passed on or transformed into something tawdry or unrecognizable, and I don't know if I can say farewell to Miyazaki. This is going to be amazing, but it's going to hurt so bad. EDIT: So, apparently, people are saying that this isn't actually going to be his final work, which, if true, is fantastic. But this statement still holds true for whatever will be his final work.

The studios of some of Japan's finest animation directors, including Mamoru Hosoda, Hideaki Anno, and Hiromasa Yonebayashi, also participated in the production, and it was deeply moving to see three people who were once taught by Hayao Miyazaki assist in his final work. These messages to succeeding animation artists are embedded in the work, and I felt that Hayao Miyazaki strongly wanted to pass the baton to someone else.
@hieioni3354

It's sad but I always have hope that there will be other people taking up the mantle after Miyazaki truly retires, just like Miyazaki taking up the mantle after Osamu Tezuka was gone. There will be new talents who rise up and continue the anime passion people like Miyazaki left behind, and I can't wait to see those anime yet to come. So don't be sad it ends (for Miyazaki), be happy it started.

was this movie a worthy last movie for Miyazaki??
@Aupirit
@Aupirit 10 месяцев назад
@@RepulsiveIsTheName I don't think you can evaluate the feeling of something "ending" in the quality of the movie because, based on personal preferences, some people would expect grandeur, some drama, some the best of everything ever done before, because they know is the last. This is a very philosophical movie, as well as having great animation as usual, but is darker than Sen to Chihiro, so the grandeur is not there. For me, as I said, not knowing what it was about before going to watch it, gave me a strange feeling, as if I were missing something. There are some parts where It gets confusing and the role of people involved is hard to frame so you keep waiting to see if things will clarify later on. Without spoilering anything major, there is a scene involving a gate, and something on the other side of the gate which you would expect is going to be revealed, yet is not, leaving you wondering why they even showed it in the movie. Still, overall I loved it, and will watch it over and over again.

Both times I watched it, the animation left me in awe. He didn't make this movie for a mass audience appeal it was made for his grandson, so keep that in mind going it.

I think that's part of his genius. He makes very specific stories but that's why they're so universal. Too often movies end up stripped of that individuality and the end result is unrecognizable to real life. His movies are so specific they instantly feel like believable people we could get to know. That realism let's him create a connection with audiences that lets all of us go on journeys with him.

Even this trailer gives literally nothing away in the movie. The scenes they show here are from the very beginning of the movie before things start to "take place" (I don't want to give away spoilers). It's probably one of his most vibrant, colorful and wildly imaginable movies I've seen from him. Every single shot (especially in the last acts) is jawdropping. Also there were some unexpectedly disturbing scenes. It feels like one of his most mature films.

Hayao Miyazaki in my opinion… may be one of the best filmmakers to exist, least my favourite. And you don’t know how much it makes me happy that this man has yet again gone out of retirement to create another film, and at the same time I’m upset that this may be his last. I have grown up with his films, and he has truly changed my life forever. And I truly mean that. The imaginative.. beautiful worlds this man creates. The realism in nature and human emotion, the symbolic messages he creates, all within the breach of pencil and paper. And this trailer shows all of that, and I love the fact that we don’t even know much about this fantasy world he has created, I’m just so excited… I now wonder how he wants to express his final goodbye as a film director to the world.

@@yasira2131 My favorite Ghibli movie is "only yesterday" (the director is Takahata, not Miyazaki tho). The main character Taeko who has never had a countryside hometown visits the countryside where her brother-in-law lives for a long vacation, and through living with the people there, she begins to reevaluate her past and present. This was the only Ghibli movie (VHS) I had when I was kid. Like Taeko, I did not have a countryside hometown (the region where my grandparents live), so the summer vacation in elementary school was too long even for me. So I watched this movie in my room until I was worn out, and in my imagination, Taeko and I spent a long summer together. Not only the fact that I didn't have a countryside hometown, but also the various scenes in this movie were superimposed on my own life. The feeling of happiness and nervousness when I ran into the girl I liked on my way home from school and talked to her for the first time; the feeling that the world was being unreasonable when my parents got angry at me for being upset over an unreasonable happened and I lingered; the feeling that what I really wanted to do had been faded away by the will of someone other than myself and yet I was still able to laugh at it in a brave way. And there are so many other things. It was not that I had no friends or that life was difficult, but it was because for me, as an impressionable child born and raised in Tokyo at that time, this film was like a precious friend that filled in the anxiety and loneliness that I felt at that time would never be filled.

I love how you can tell that the animation has improved, but it's still recognizable as the Miyazaki style

I look forward to one day, seeing a faithful adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki's life, musings and career, using a mixture of real world camera work, juxtaposed with the typically gorgeous Ghibli animated visuals. I can just imagine another masterpiece just waiting to be realised.

I can't get enough of Miyazaki's work! Ever since I saw Princess Mononoke for the first time, he's had me hooked. Can't wait to see what he's got in store with this one.

Princess Mononoke was okay. Could be better, though. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, however, is timeless.

The animations are just next level. I never expected to see Ghibli studio improves themselves this much. The quality is reaching abstract levels of complexity.

Brought to you be the man who can't decide whether to stay in retirement. At this point, I'm convinced the only way Hayao Miyazaki is going to stop animating is when he physically can't anymore, whether he loses control of his hands or passes away.

As a Japanese girl who grew up watching Ghibli and literally just watched this movie on Sunday, it was worth the wait for me. But it's quite puzzling to say the least so watch carefully! Miyazaki Hayao did it again :)

The atmosphere in this trailer alone is amazing! I feel the nostalgia and sadness coming n with the visual of the moon and carp. Can't forget those vibes that only Studio Ghibli can bring to the table. It's simply one of a kind

I was really worried the trailer was going to give away too much (which is the reason Miyazaki didn't allow a trailer for the Japanese release), but this trailer actually does a really good job of creating intrigue without giving away anything. Super great.

Knowing of Miyazaki and his films, this seems like another amazing masterpiece to throw on top of everything else he's made. How does a man like him stay creative well beyond the usual 10 years?!! Unbelievable.

My impression of the movie after watching it in Japan was that it was a movie that made me curious because I couldn't understand all the contents, and I wanted to watch it over and over again in the future. In particular, the visual beauty in the last 15 minutes was the most mysterious ever.

Since the start of his career in "The Castle of Calgiostro"(1979) up until "The Wind Rises"(2013) was probably hell for him. All of his experience, suffering, and love, all culminated in this moment in time. "How Do You Live?" Is history in the making.
