Ok guys true story. My husband has four brothers all of them are six foot five with one of them being six foot six. The five of them would walk into the bar no matter who was tending bar they would put on this song, five bar stools would instantly clear he and his brothers would sit down. Honest to heaven was a site to behold. I would literally run into the bar first and take a seat just to watch them walk in. Thanks for bringing back such a great memory. I am smiling like crazy right now.

This song was beaten to death on a lot of radio stations pop and rock. Can't beleive neither one of you ever came across this. Are we that old?!

One of my favorite memories in life was meeting Phil Lynott as a young writer in the Bay Areas in the early 80's. We went after a show at the Keystone Palo Alto to sit and talk somewhere private. In this case, it was under the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge. There's a little lighthouse right at the base, where the bay funnels through at breakneck speed, while the foghorns call down though the mist from the towers way over your head. We sat back to back in the cold, drinking coffee with whiskey and he talked music for about 3 hours. He was a man who would have been a bard in the 13th century, a priest in the 10th, a highwayman somewhere in the mix. But he had the gift of breathing life into what he saw. What a legend. I wish he had lived to write more. He was a pied piper.

Watching the two of you review all of these old songs, the songs I grew up with, through fresh eyes and fresh voices, makes me young again. It lets me live them and enjoy them for a second time in my life. And for that, I thank you very much.

It’s funny how jazzy the guitar chords are in this song. I love how each guitar is doing something just slightly different but complimentary at the same time.

"Johnny" is Lynott's alter ego who shows up in so many Lizzy songs like Showdown and there's even a song just called Johnny. Their best song, period, is Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed.

Their legacy song. Thin Lizzy is one of those 70s bands that were better live than in studio. Its just how it was back then. Most bands were live acts. Not everyone excelled at studio work.

Crank your car stereo to 11 when this comes on, you will not be disappointed. They don’t make records like this anymore. One of my favourites.

I tend to forget that I have always liked Thin Lizzy until I hear one of their songs again. Their band name always makes me think that they have a different style than they do. Thanks for the wake up call and another listen to a really cool song.

When I hear “Thin Lizzy,” I think of COWBOY SONG!!! The two songs you’ve listened to so far are the most radio-friendly in their catalog, i.e., the least challenging or interesting. I encourage you to dig deeper. FYI, there are TWO lead guitarists producing those harmonized solos (Gary Moore was one for several years)

Summer of 76. My best friend and I hitchhiked from Wahpeton ND to Colorado Springs and back. 19 days on the road, and as we were entering our hometown in the back seat of our last ride, this song came on the radio. "Oh, yeah, we're back!" It was great.

This is an all time song for “The Boys”.....one that comes on and you and your buds look at each other, grin, nod your heads in common recognition that you are glad that you are guys!

Great banger. When the late Gary Moore was a member of Thin Lizzy in the band's later years, the bass player Phil Lynott and Gary composed "Parisienne Walkways". Gary covered this live, during his solo career as well! Amazing searing guitar solos!

Finally! Some Thin Lizzy!! I myself would've picked a different tune but I get why you picked this song. I love these guys. Emerald and Roisin Dubh (Black Rose) should be the anthems of Ireland 🇮🇪. When I hear Thin Lizzy, I think of my Irish born Nanny, my paternal grandmother from Connemara, Galway. So thank you for making me think of her in this new year! Can't wait to hear your review guys. For the last 40 years, I thought TL was a "one-hit wonder" with this song. Then, I "discovered" Metallica last year, which led me to " Whiskey. . " which led me to the 2005 Tribute concert, which led me to all of Thin Lizzy. What a great band! One great guitarist after another. The group is a Banger! My favorite band today.

For some reason I never really got into Thin Lizzy, but this song, I love. This song never gets old and was a big hit back in 1976. Great song choice.

I wonder what you guys would think of Elvis Costello's "Pump It Up." It's an absolute banger.

The album was a slight concept. 'Jailbreak' was about a future world run by an overlord (the overlord is on the cover in the background). Thus the song, "Jailbreak" was from the perspective of "our heroes" breaking away from that. Each song on the album has a little bit of the concept in the character singing to us, telling us a story. Free from the overlord, the boys come back to town... and all that. Remember, this was 1976, a year before 'Star Wars'. Oh, and seriously, check out any track from the live album, 'Live and Dangerous'. It's truly the bomb.

It's a well-done ,fun song. Glad you guys appreciated it, regardless of the amount of times lots of us heard it, in the late 70's. I think it holds up quite well and is very deserving of the A grade.

Gary Moore "Shapes of Things" - you will be amazed. I do not say this lightly. Called the guitarist's guitarist, he played with Thin Lizzy and is less well-known in the U.S. He transitioned into the blues in his later career, but was initially a blistering hard rock player.

11 months post 9/11 my husband was returning to New York New Jersey USNAVY from an incredibly long deployment..they left 7 hours after the attacks.. "Shock and Awe"..when the ship pulled in, this song was playing! This applied to the women on board too. You may not remember that event but we sure do! Everyone went wild! Made me smile! Rock 🎸 🤘 on!

My favourite song of theirs has always been "Whiskey in the Jar". I used to keep all my neighbours awake with it after afternoon shift and the bars closed.

I have good memories of this in the 70’s, but I have to be honest...I now connect it with my kids being so excited that Toy Story 2 was coming out in theaters back ‘99. Was used in all the trailers.

This song in its day was iconic. Anthemic. It represented every coterie of high school boys who thought they were bad ass (but probably carried guitars they couldn't play). This is as close to S tier as this band gets.

This song is a jewel in the classic rock crown. Made long before I was born, but I can’t remember a time that I didn’t know and love it.

If you grew up listening to Thin Lizzy, this is the song that would come to mind. Even though their most commercial song, a banger. I would also recommend “The cowboy song”. Another banger. When you come around to Nazareth again, check out “Love hurts”. I believe it’s also on “Hair of the dog”. 🎸

I had a music director once who advised, when asked about how to make the repetitive parts not so boring, to change things up every time you sing the same lines - - sing it softer, sing it louder, put emphasis on different words, etc. That was something like 40 years ago and I've retained that ever since.

In 1976, I was 16 and playing in a band. Gigging for 2 years. Every gigs 'Song List' included Smoke On The Water, : Sweet Home Alabama. Cant Get Enough, All Right Now. Popular Hits that are easy to play live ,chord wise. Then this song came out. It was a massive hit. Constantly being requested. We'd play Taking Care Of Business instead .For our young band, it was a bridge to far. The chords sequence was like nothing we'd ever heard. We Tried Mightily. we failed miserably... A humbling experience, I can assure you. Your reactions were joyous. Great job lads, RNB

A couple of REAL bangers from Thin Lizzy are off the 'Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous' album. One is 'Warrior' and the other is 'The Emerald'. I would suggest going with 'Warrior' first then 'The Emerald'.

Thin Lizzy leader, lead singer & Bassist, Phil Lynott and drummer, Brian Downey, had known each other since they were kids in grammar school in Dublin. Lynott, was a rarity in Ireland at the time a black man (mixed race, mother Irish, father Guyanese), and Downey was one of the few kids that befriended Lynott. Downey is also a very underrated drummer. A little insight as to why the rhythm section was so tight, so good. Many guitarists passed in and out of Thin Lizzy (Eric Bell, Gary Moore, Scott Gorman, Brian "Robbie" Robertson, Midge Ure, Snowy White, John Sykes, etc), but Downey & Lynott held the band together.
