Considering that Simon Pegg was the inspiration for the character Huey in the comics I felt that Eric was paying tribute to that by giving his character as Huey's dad a proper sendoff. The whole thing with Butcher seemed a bit too obvious to me but it was still a great reveal. This season was soo disturbing but I still enjoyed it. Can't wait for the finale reaction!!!!!!!!!!!

Jack Quaid said the scene saying goodbye to Simon Pegg wasn't acting. He was just speaking directly to Simon Pegg telling him "you're my hero". I know it's a sad scene but as a lifelong Simon Pegg fan I watched him die on screen with a huge beaming smile on my face just so excited to watch him act such an intense scene one last time. As someone who lost his own father ~1.5yr ago you'd think I'd be bawling my eyes out but I'm right there with Jack Quaid.... He's my hero. On screen doing exactly the thing that made me such a fan in the first place, and I couldn't have been more happy to watch. The only part that makes me sad is that now this is the last we'll see of him in this show but there's only one season left and we never really saw a whole lot of him in the first place. Jack also said something along the lines of: "They say never meet your heroes, cuz they'll always disappoint you. Unless your hero is Simon Pegg. He's exactly as wonderful as you hope he will be."

I know how you feel about Victoria. On the one hand, she's the head-popper. She killed Rainor back in season 1. She popped all those heads at the Vought trial. She's killed so many people for no reason, she's downright evil. And yet.... I kinda like her. I want her to be on the good side. I think part of it is just Claudia Doumit, the actress. She seems really cool and down-to-earth in interviews, and she's really, really pretty.

The one thing that really bugs me about the Hughie scene in the dungeon is that it feels like it's played for laughs because it's a guy, and everyone I see reacting to it seems to laugh through it every time. But if it was a woman it would be seen as just a pure, unfunny, horrific scene, Which yeah, it should be, I cant imagine being in that situation. But it just gets under my skin that for some reason everyone just laughs at it and that it feels like it was shot for laughs because a guy so its less serious, when really that scene is just awful, I was tense as hell watching that scene. Especially given how Ruthless Tek knight has been shown to be, I was scared for Hughie the whole time and I'm glad that after it at the very least they showed that the whole thing did seem to actually affect him, because if he just brushed it off I would be even more concerned. It's not surprising how Men's mental heath nowadays is in the gutter, especially when you compare Hughie's and Starlights SA scenes and the creator of the show described Hughie's as "Funny" when in reality it is just disturbing to watch...

Re Tek-Knight owning prisons.... That is real life. Privately-owned, for-profit prisons are a big industry, here in the US. Most states have them.

My dad passed away last year. Watching Hughie's dad go wrecked me.

I used to be a transcription editor (specifically, quarterly earnings calls for corporations), and my worst calls were Privatized Prisons. They referred to prisoners as "beds", because their profits dictated they had more filled 'beds', which means they need more 'criminals' arrested to fulfill their stockholders' expectations. Which means they want more people arrested, and jail times to be increased. Because they make more profits the more 'beds' they have. If you decriminalize marijuana, you'll deprive them of 'beds', so they have loads of lobbyists trying to get people NOT to decriminalize. Sorry...after hearing about this system from the people that control it, I've found it one of the most disgusting things people do to make money. I did NOT mean to derail a convo. (I will just quietly say that prisons, like health 'insurance' should never be privatized. EVER.

For me, 'Wisdom of the Ages' is The Boys' best single episode of the entire show up to this point. It ranks along with 'Pine Barrens' from The Sopranos or 'Five-O' from Better Call Saul in my opinion. Antony Starr's performance alone was phenomenal and an Emmy nomination is long overdue at this point.

I had to wait to watch this video because my father recently passed and it was too fresh to watch at the time it was posted. Anyway, love your content. Edit: watching Homelander torment and kill the people responsible for who he became are some of the best scenes this season. That whole story about where the nickname “squirt” came from could explain so *much* of Homelanders behavior. The *only* time he was happy. His fears and extreme responses, his callous feelings toward humanit, his need for approval and hatred for that need can all be traced back to that lab. They may be the most guilty people in the entire show. They have almost *everybody*’s blood on their hands. From Becca to Robin, Homelander was involved in all their deaths in some way, and helped create Butcher as a Supe killer.
