I think it's just PTSD. The surgeon seemed to really like that song, so he probably heard it a lot whilst being tortured. It probably just brings back all the memories of the pain he felt, so he gets really angry.
There‘s meaning to the fact why Soldier Boy‘s PTSD gets triggered to this song. This song is basically about a man named Vitaly (aka „Vitya“ or „Vityushenka“) who escapes a prison in the cold Siberian city Vorkuta (Vorkuta was famous for having prisons & Gulags).Just like „Vitya“,Soldierboy escaped the Russian lab
yea, and if you listen closely to the tape of soldier boy’s experimentation in russia this song faintly played in the background. If butcher knew of SB’s PTSD trigger he may be able to use it to his advantage in season 4
Not to mention the fact that it's the very same song that the scientist working on him ( torturing ) was listening to while conducting his experiments on him.
What a tune gotta say it portrays the fear of soilder boy perfectly a nice cathy song that hides a void of unimaginable horror like soilder boy himself
Here are the lyrics if anybody needs them: Curly white acacia outside the window, the sun is in the casement, the forest bright with scarlet. When Soldier Boy was experimented on at the Russian lab after Nicaragua when his team defeated him, he was exposed to high emits of radiation that was enough to give a normal person acute radiation sickness that could lead them to a slow and painful death. His skin was highly durable especially from the inside, during the experiments performed on him this song was played. The nuclear blast he released in the New York City and Herogasm at the TNT Twins house, seemed similar to the radiation blast from Chernobyl and the bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At Herogasm, most were vaporized or got killed by the blast. Remember what those bombs did back in 1945 and what happened to those people exposed to radiation in Chernobyl?
If I could only escape from all my problems, get into the car and step on the gas God, I've not talked with you for so long But I know that you listen, just give me this chance If I could only escape from all my problems, get into the car and step on the gas God, I've not talked with you for so long But I know you listen, listen, yeah

Imagine if Homelander and Sage use Soldier Boy as some kind of bomb. Wakes him up whenever they need him, immediately play this song, then they sedate him again and do it over and over again continuously. That would be monstrous. Gotta feel sorry for Soldier Boy.
