@@varric Well said, Varric... And *in fact that seeing somebody's (Wee Hughie) been buck-n@k£d* is truly, a totally priceless moment ever seen right there...😅🤣🤣
I love Homelanders slight little pause when Hughie arrives. He's just like "What? Wait why is he naked?" and then he immediately just snaps back into it but it was a funny little moment.
its one of those reoccurring gags that makes this show so god damn hilarious. Another great example is starlight always playing supersonics hit song about the 16 year old whenever she wanted to talk to him in private. Its such a little thing but every time it happens its funny
@@zyairrountree2411 Well the biggest weakness right now is that Butcher needs a constant supply of Temp V. Where is he supposed to get that from now that Maeve disappeared?
God this fight was so fucking good. Soldier Boy blocking and deflecting blows because he actually knows how to fight, but still being shocked that homelander is stronger than him. Homelander just throwing sluggers cause this is the first time he’s fighting someone in his weight class and is a mix of anger and freaking out. Hughie joining the fight but doing sneak attacks cause he can help but isn’t at that level. And Butcher taking every hit, fighting him head on just to show he can and show homelander that he isn’t invincible. God this was so fucking good.
wdym homelander was just throwing sluggers he actually had some fighting skills he could block dodge and parry if it werent for those he wouldve be dead already cus butcher and soldier boy are close to homelander's strength
@@brandongarcia7724 That could be the case. They’re definitely in the same weight class. But ultimately I think homelander a defense is probably the stronger of the two.
The sheer delight on butchers face at the fact he no longer has to cower and run from homelander and can stand up to him and trade blows without being killed by a single hit from him a moment he's been dreaming about for a long time
Well he never really cowered from homelander before anyway. Hell h even tried to blow himself homelander and a baby up just because he had nothing left to loose in the attempt.
The fact that a bad, monstrous man like Soldier Boy is still 100% true to his word despite multiple opportunities to break or gain even something more is what makes his character awesome
Yep destroys his confidence and ego, he always thought he was unbeatable. Sure he got away but he had to run with his tail between his legs to survive, homelander has never had to run from any fight. So I would count this as a big win for the boys.
@@kenthefele113 Yeah... That particular " *I'm about to DIE* 💀 with *Wee Hughie's completely naked next to ME!* (The Homelander 🦅🇺🇲)" here seems to be pretty natch to me, bro...
@@CSWdenji69 Alright then, in fact that *he's actually fears about his power would gets taken away from him* right 🤔? Well then, it makes some senses about it...
At 4:18 he looks like a wild animal caught in a trap. Antony Starr did such a great job at playing Homelander’s reaction to being overpowered for the first time.
For all his faults, Homelander actually reacts pretty well to the unexpected. His long term planning sucks, but he's pretty good with "Ok, this is happening. Let's stay calm and deal with it."
I love how Soldier Boy makes fun of Homelander wearing a cape and then during the fight he actually uses the cape to yank Homelander back to the ground.
It's good to see him fight period. We've never seen homelander actually fight someone until now, despite all the people he's killed.Supersonic got killed offscreen, and everyone else either didn't have any powers or didn't even try to fight back
It's the fact that he had to put in _extreme_ effort to get out from underneath them - that's the real key. Now imagine Maeve was in there too; he'd have very little chance of escaping. He knows he's in very real danger, especially if anybody can be a supe now.
It's the fact that someone could get the best of him...He was not having it lmaoo.. The writing of these characters is 🤌... He's a complete psychopath...
Seeing season 1 Hughie, I never would have imagined that his character development would have led to him naked, pinning down a terrified screaming Homelander to the floor.
@@Ministry_Of_Truth911Homelander did have training, we see it briefly in an episode from Diabolical that is considered Canon. People seriously underestimate characters that have decent level fighting ability. While Superman and Joker may not be expert h2h combatants like Batman or Deathstroke, they are still far more skilled than the average person
I got to say it, the range of emotions that Anthony Starr displays here are amazing: cocky, powerful, hateful, actual concern, genuine surprised, animal agression, masterclass in acting a villain
I think a nice little detail no one has really been talking about is Homelander’s satisfaction in finding out it was, in fact, all about him. Just the small little ego boost it gives his already infinite ego was a nice touch.
i don’t think calling his ego infinite is a good characterization. i think his ego is fragile and weak. he has infinite excuses, infinite coping mechanisms. that’s what narcissism really is- the pain and trauma of feeling inadequate to your very core (narcissists don’t really even have cores, they have no real sense of self). homelander is infinitely capable of spinning stories. it’s why he works so well in the media. he’s intelligent but he understands mass psychology way better than he understands individuals, and he can use the stories of mass psychology to justify his place in the world. the archetype of the hero, the god. these are soothing images that he uses to massage his broken self-image. this is why narcissists tend to be so grandiose. not only is it just a nice thing to think about yourself -you’re the center of everything, you’re very important and powerful- it allows you to think in large social terms, which narcissists are better equipped for than the small scale real lives that people live on an individual level. this clip actually showcases this exact dynamic of narcissistic pseudo-empathy. homelander is on the verge of tears just by seeing soldier boy. as a child he was raised on movies and PR. in this moment he’s confronted with the three-dimensional version of one of the few things he was capable of empathizing with, and now that he’s here he hates homelander and wants to kill him. you can see he starts to well up immediately. if you know a narcissist you know that they cry just fine at movies but they can’t empathize for you. this show portrays narcissism perfectly it’s really incredible.
yep, its like when Butcher took the superpowers, he brought the fight level to human vs human, he can finally punch HomeLander and it actually does damage to his face.
Honestly people give Homelander shit for flying away and getting his ass kicked, but I was impressed with how well he did. He only ran away when he was about to fucking die
Butcher's bloody smile is just perfect, he knew Homelander still outmatched him but he couldn't give a fuck. Just landing blows on him and being able to hurt him was enough.
@@trevturp6891 Because that's what happened. When they first came together Homelander landed more hits, and after that it took Soldier Boy's help to physically overpower him and even then Homelander got the better of them both and had him pinned against the wall. It then took Hughie to knock Homelander off him. They were only matched with their heat vision.
I think homelander handled himself really well for someone that's never faced anything that was a threat to him. You seen the fear in his eyes throughout the fight. And the moment he was hissing like a rabid f****** animal in a corner was great acting!
I'm hoping butcher becomes the comic equivalent of what black noir should be. Noir is supposed to be a clone of HL and kills him in the comic. Butcher has almost the same powers as HL but unlike Noir he isn't a little stronger than HL but in a team up he can kill him. In the comic butcher kills black noir after noir kills HL. The military bombs noir until he's only got a leg and a arm and half his head than butcher takes his crow bar and pulls his brain and spine out to finish Noir for good. They can definitely integrate that into the show and have him finish HL well juiced up on compound V. They just need queen Maeve instead of hughie on their team.
@@dontcare7086 dude that just ain't going to happen and they have talked about it lot of times, even part of the cast dislike the comics like Antony, the only probable thing that they will take from the comics ending is Butcher giving the last hit to Homelander and Hughie taking out Butcher's life
Its a bit of a toss up. I believe Butcher has better fighting skills hands down, but I think his body is still adjusting to the super powers, Its the only thing that can explain why the three three of them didn't rock HL.
I love how when they were holding him down Homelander had absolutely no idea what to do. He was panicking like crazy firing up the laser and screaming even though he knew he wouldn`t hit anyone with the lasers. Insane props to Anthony Starr for portaying a God amongst men feeling genuine fear and panic for the first time in his life.
I don't think that was fear or panic, that was being momentarily caught off guard. 1v1 he was handling SB, even when Butcher jumped in and itnwas 2v1 he was doing good, only when Hughie popped up did he falter and get overwhelmed. But even then, all three of them together couldn't hold him down and finish the job.
Lol soldier boy is still a much better character though and homelander is only more powerful due to his flight. I never wanted anyone to take an L as bad as homelander. this show glorifies rapists and it's weird. Still won't stop me from watching season 4 though.
I love when they’re holding him down there’s something real animalistic with homelander, the way he’s panicking and thrashing with his lasers ready to go. Like an animal backed into a corner showing their claws or teeth but just as afraid. That desperate scream he does too 😚👌🏾
Homelander prob couldnt use his lasers cuz Soldier Boy's blast can suppress surrounding Supe's abilities while hes charging up (ex. TNT twins powers failing when confronted by SB), it would also explains why the Boys werent able to restrain HL bc their powers would also be suppressed making them weaker in general
@@Zimo0o Nah the twins powers failed due to them being has beens, not because of SB. If that was the case Homiegrounder here wouldn't be able to fly away
@@Zimo0o nah nah, soldier boy can only blast off the power after the beam ( which explained why the tiny guy stays tiny) The TNT twins power havent been used for a long time and requires great form from both of team ( they are both fat and hate eachother so much now)
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how brilliantly "Antony Starr" plays Homelander. He's one of the scariest superhero villains I think I've seen in a long time, so evil and psychotic.
Homelander's look of disbelief when Butcher yells out "Oi!" was priceless. From the first punch thrown, he went from cocky to confused to worried to shocked. Watching how he processes the realization that he could have been killed in that fight will be interesting to watch in the coming episodes.
I loved when he struckl him with his laser Eye and Homelander screetched "WTF"! Shock Desperation & Upset that hes not Untouchabl. It was a Fantastic Fight for a Streaming show. I wish they would get Zack Snyder to do one giant Fight scene it would be Amazing
He might have actually been killed if Starlight actually did something. Starlight is always talking about how she’ll do something, when actually she has rarely contributed.
I never got "frightened" from him. It felt more like rageful denial, confusion & disorientation. That last moment before he took off felt like "no! the his isn't how it's supposed to be!"
This episode was worth all the hype. Soldier Boy really pushed Homelander to that next level of his powers and his fighting skills. I can't wait to see what next episode brings!
The mental fuckery of losing for the first time.. I could see Homelander taking a shit ton of Compound V as steroids to make sure he never loses again.
What's crazy also about this scene is when homelander stepped on termite on purpose. He definitely heard him asking for help, and homelaner just killed him
I love how Butcher and Soldier Boy are coordinated when they fight. That double punch and then taking Homelander to the ground looked awesome af they undestand eachother without saying a word
A good mirror image in this fight was seeing HL give a manic smile while catching Soldier Boy’s punches, and then Butcher taking HL’s hits and giving him a manic smile. They really are extremely alike, even in fights. Butcher roared while clashing lasers, and HL growled. They fought like animals, and I’m all for it.
I kinda felt like the reason Butcher roared at that time was from the pain of using his laser eyes for such an extended period and they were beginning to burn. While HL only growled because his tolerance was much higher due to him being used to it. Hence why SB snatched HL down before he could gain the advantage.
Props to Soldier Boy. The first glimpse he gets of Homelander is him lasering a guy with his heat vision. Rather than being intimidated, he downright insults and mocks him
"...what have you done...?!" There's a look on Homelander's face in this moment that hints at feelings of betrayal, a genuine loss of respect that Butcher took that shortcut and didn't face him as a human. There's a scene near the end of Hellsing that parallels this situation, in which [spoilers] forsakes his humanity in an attempt to best Alucard, and the latter feels betrayed because if anyone was to beat him, it needed to be a human. The reason being, there's a huge part of him that views his own loss of humanity for godlike power as a curse, and that same part of him wants humanity to win. I imagine that the very same condition runs through Homelander's mind to a certain extent (as evidenced in the mirror scene), and it's masterfully conveyed here.
What makes you think human can beat a supe in any way? There is difference between bravery and stupidity. Butcher is brave but he is not stupid. Butcher clearly knows its impossible to beat world's powerful supe as a human . So butcher had to take compound V to even just lay hands on homelander
You're head on when it comes to Hellsing, but... Well yeah, HL has the HL-version of respect for Butcher, but this is not it. He wants to know how Butcher got that kind of an upgrade, that's all.
It makes Homelander’s entrance that much more intimidating when you realize he has super hearing and the little guy was crying out in pain, which Homelander would have heard beforehand. He didn’t step on him coincidentally, he did it because he could, because he wanted to feel powerful.
That's fear. Dude was probably shitting his pants in utter horror at what he just witnessed. If Starlight had joined in, they could have probably murdered Homelander right there and then, and John knows it.
@@OGrupxe I don't agree on Starlight, she would have probably interfered more than helped! These guys on the other hand are going for the kill, they are not moralizing, they are not distracted, they are not fucking around. You do not get between a wild animal and its prey.

@@RealHajimeHinata it really shows just how much of a monster Homelander is. Soldier Boy's powers, like Queen Maeve's, are super strength and durability. All supes have that, but those two are on an entirely different level since it's their actual superpower. Maeve completely pummeled Stormfront on raw strength. And Homelander is completely overpowering both Soldier Boy and Butcher (who also gets insane strength). Not to mention that Maeve was just annoying to him and easily overpowered her when he got a bit serious in their actual fight. And also add laser sight and flight. Homelander is a god among supes, let alone men.

@@JBD915 he doesn’t have any weaknesses besides a big ass ego most powerful supe on the show escaped a building before it a exploded and escaped from 3 dudes that wanna kill him he is op af
In diabolical it was shown that homelander basically had these guys that were like 2 his size come and beat the shit outta him on a regular basis so he probably learned most of his actual combat skills from there seeing how everyone he fights in the show before soldier boy have all been against supes way weaker than him or regular civilians that are also wayy weaker than him
I agree but he had plot armor. 1v1 Butcher should have won. Beyond the 'I will give everything and die without a care' approach along with a lifetime of actually fighting 'worthy' opponents would have meant he would be stronger (because they are stolen powers afterall) add in the other 2 and it would have been no contest
Just binge watched this show the past 2 days. I can’t believe I never watched it before. Such an incredible show, full of action and humor. Beautifully written. Can’t wait for season 4! This fight was epic. And knowing Ryan will most likely be the antagonist, so epic!
I will never not love Homelander’s reaction to Butcher using powers and then when Hughie teleports in completely buck ass naked he just looks confused as hell 😂😂
At least this scared Homelander. All it would take would be one more to join in like Starlight and they could have finished him. It also gauges how strong Homelander really is. I don't think we've seen Homelander do any real feats of strength. Also Soldier Boy is an expert fighter, Homelander is not. If anything Homelander is going to be pretty darn scared.
Agreed, even If they don't end up killing HL (Which they probably won't) this has left him scared and his public image will probably end up being annihilated for the remainder of the season, leading Into Season 4 were It's going to be the remainder of the Supes along with HL's clone Black Noir left to kill him.
Honestly, this makes the whole series pointless, with so many supes around why is everybody afraid of Homelander when only a few people would have to team up to beat him
Marvel wishes they could portray such a compelling, hilarious, brutal and emotional fight as this and fit it all into one room without it having to divulge into a CGI fever dream. Spectacular scene.

Can we also all agree that Billy wanted hughie to get out before they die put a smile on our face. It shows how much hughie means to Billy. Even in season two Billy stated he was his canary someone that helps him not go too far And hughie wanted to stay shows how loyal and how much Billy means to him as well enough to not abandoned billy.
I got massive goosebumps when butcher said "scorched earth". The sheer shock and surprise that everyone is feeling is so well incapsulated in this scene. Homelanders general WTF, Butcher's euphoria of being able to harm his nemesis - what an incredible episode.
I love how at the beginning of their fight Homelander fights so lazily, like he’s always used to never trying in these situations. Then he finds out real quick 😅
Homelander's reactions to Hughie jumping in, naked, and getting a hit in were hilarious. Great fight scene - the way it's been building to this. Hopefully we see an epic rematch.
Lamplighter: Dead. Translucent: Dead. A-Train: Dead. (Probably) Maeve: MIA Black Noir: AWOL Deep: STILL THERE! Homelander: Feeling the walls closing in. Nowhere to go but corners. With a man who can break steel. Starlight: Quit.
Homelander is so alone and having someone like deep as a teammate is just adding insult to injury. And He got his ass beaten and was second away from being grilled, so he is scared as fuck
I’m still waiting on Noir to do something big. It doesn’t necessarily have to be like the comics, but I still want something huge out of him in the show.
This was an awesome scene. Karl Urban is one of my favorite actors. He is an absolute maniac as Butcher, he doesn't care whether he lives or dies. His face at 3:33 tells it all. The fact he played the actual Dredd who did never removed his helmet spoke volumes as Stallone had to have his famous face seen. Antony Starr as Homelander is a story on its own. I have never been so convinced by a character, I have had to watch videos of him out of character to remind myself its just a performance. The rest of the cast are all perfect as well. Amazing series.
3:33 I love butchers bloodied smile. He’s finally able to fight back against the man he hates more than anything in this world who fucked his life up. On a side note I loved how butcher told hughie to get out when SB was getting ready to blast HL like if the blast was going to kill them all he wanted to ensure hughies safety but he wants to see HL destroyed jus like butcher does they’re in this together.
4:37 the scream that he let out literally sent chills down my spine , you can tell that homelander is desperate and actually scared for once , for his whole life homelander never really faced much adversity or challenges (physical or mental) when theres finally a moment where two equally strong people (and hughie) are holding him down ready to blast him away for good , he can't help but scream in terror and use every last bit of his resolve into escaping , he quite literally activated fight or flight response
Damn, you said 2 strong people and Hughie like he was an afterthought, lmao! Nah, but for real--don't forget, he got super strength along with the teleportation powers!
I interpreted the scream more like a grunt when you lift heavy. Meaning it was desperation, but the scream showed more that he was using everything he had instead of fear. Although he may have been scared I think the scream was more indicative of the effort he had to exert to get out.
It sounded like Homelander was beyond frustrated and pissed that all the folks he wanted to un-alive in brutal fashion have all somehow managed to challenge him in this way! It's all falling apart, and he can't even enact his plan of murdering all the people he wanted to. The company is all he has now, so I wonder what he will do if he loses that?! Also, soldier boy doesn't seem to have full control of his omni-beam, so Butcher and Hughie better ration their temp-v with Maeve gone!
@@Blackadam876 Yes,like Butcher probably isn't as strong as Homelander. I think Homelander could easily kill this 2 if Soldier boy wasn't here. The only thing Homelander needs to do is play smart and separate everybody next time they fought and kill them 1 vs 1. None of them can do shit against him 1 vs 1,even Soldier Boy.
Nobody talks about how orange is a stronger form of energy on the light frequency spectrum, meaning that Butcher’s laser eyes were stronger then Homelander’s
My favorite thing about this fight is how Homelander was questioning himself prior, wondering if he has what it takes to beat Soldier Boy. Then when he finally gets there & fights him he’s like “oh this isn’t shit, wtf was I worried about” lol
That cape pull gives me Man of Steel vibes when Zod uppercut Superman in the air. Stops his ascend a second later and starts to pull the dude and his cape and threw him to them buildings lol

Homelander's final scream to escape was such a savage moment!!! Using all his will to escape from that single moment that could've resulted in his life ending...
I love how this was put together each of their strength playing into the fight. You have Butchers insane tolerance to pain and willingness to die as long as he can kill homelander mixed in with the similar power set they you have Soldier boy with his comparable strength and his ability to fight compensating for the difference in strength. Lastly you have Huey who while being nothing compared to the rest of them can still contribute by sneak attacking them…
A strong message was sent to Homelander in this fight and I'm excited to see how the rest of season pans out. Butcher and SB are better hand to hand fighters than Homelander, however superhuman abilities equal the playing field in a fight. Faster reflexes and enhanced strength combined with durability make things way more difficult and add another level to combat. It's the same kind of situation if Wonder woman and Batman fought Superman. The combined experience of fighting is wayyyy higher than Superman but his abilities tilt the odds in has favor tremendously! Butcher was the wild card in this fight since has no issues doing whatever it takes to win and it was dope to Finally see them all clash not to mention I wonder what a fully active and rested SB fight would look like? @@edgehanger8558 Saying SB was tired and didn't use full power is just an assumption. I don't think they made this scene to show Homlander just fighting a weak SB, and there will be a rematch with a strong version. The scene demonstrated exactly how powerful each of them is.
Best episode by far. This scene had me jumping up and down yelling at 1 am in my apartment like a child. Like everything else in the show it was so well done, so satisfying. The funny part is this was the 2nd time they got me like that with a fight scene, the first being the one vs. Stormfront, obviously to a lesser extent. This is the best show on tv right now. Antoni Starr and the show as a whole both deserve Emmys. I'd make a case for Karl Urban as well. And as a big Supernatural fan, seeing Jensen Ackles excel elsewhere is the icing on the cake. This show is the sole reason I have Amazon Prime.
I love how Butcher smiles during his fisticuffs with Homelander. Because finally-FINALLY-he's able to *hurt* Homelander. And he gets to do it with his own two hands.
Makes me proud of Hughie(even though it was mostly the Temp V) that if it weren’t for him, Homelander would not have had his face kissing the floor. Unfortunately, our boy in blue is still on top of the food chain but not for long
3v1 with soldier boy as one of them, and he still beat the shit out of them and got out form under them, I’d say he wasn’t scarred when being held down just unbelievably pissed
Not sure if anyone noticed but when Soldier Boy was about to use his Supe nullification Blast Homelander realized his laser eyes weren't shooting lasers, that's when decided to fucking bail lmfao.
Oh shit! Spot on observation! Didn't catch that at first Might have also been the reason why he was able to get away because it also means it would have weakened Billy and Huey.
I'm actually glad The Deep is just there lmao. He doesn't know how to fight but he's just there and I love it, adds so much character. The 7 is now just The 2 lmao, Homelander and The Deep, because A Train is most definitely probably dead, and even if he wasn't.
