Well, durning the sixties, parent would say,it was a crazy decade ,three major political figures were shot , Many riots, children, who got polio in a lung machines .
Wouldn't this have been an golden opportunity for Cindy to learn that valuable life lesson bestowed upon us by the Almighty, Mick Jagger - you can't always get what you want.
If they are going to give another performance, might as well invite other families so both parents of the other kids can attend either one of the performances
I figured that why Mrs. Engstrum had the kids do a special performance for Cindy's entire family was because Cindy was the star of the show. I'm sure that Mrs. Engstrum was going to do that for any of her other students who have the lead role in future plays.
Exactly. I did a few plays in elementary school so to know that I can’t have both my parents there. But this one kid can get special attention. I’d be very upset.
I did NOT like how the Brady’s got a special performance just for them ! I understood Cindy wanted both of her parents there but MAYBE so did the other kids? Or if they could only invite one parent maybe another child had the same problem with a new step parent or a sick grandmother or a divorced parent that came in town just for them ?
Sorry guys, I’m not really aware of who she is, since I wasn’t born around that time but when I watch old shows like the Brady Bunch, I can see the beauty of black Americans. It’s really surprising that the show even included “black” actresses in those times. When I watched shows like Bewitched or I dream of Genie, I don’t rarely see black actors/actresses. But it’s good to see Tracy in this show.
What made Cindy so damn special? She was the only kid in that play with a new stepparent? She was the only kid in there that had to make a difficult decision on which parent to bring? That is such bullshit.
I always wondered what about the other kids who probably had extra family who wanted ti see the play also ... theybshould have invited them as well I know i know its a tv show and im over thinking it But honestly I always wondered why lol
Well her "very special problem" was that Cindy wanted her entire family to see her in the play. But when she finds out that she could only invite one person to see her she couldn't decide between Mike and Carol. Mike didn't really have a business meeting the night of Cindy's play. He was just using that as an excuse to get Cindy to change her mind about dropping out of the play. How it changed things for Cindy was that it made her decision easier. In other words Carol won by default.
Nyc Finest Bitch It’s not sexual until you make it sexual. A girl naked isn’t exactly sexual (might be porn, but not sexual) until someone starts doing sexual activity with her or reacts sexually to her. That’s just what I think anyways.
Obviously it was the fashion of the 60s/early 70s. They’re called baby doll style dresses and later became mod dresses. I think she’s adorable and only people who have perverted minds have a problem (not that you do)
That's what little girls wore at that time. It was very cute for them to show the rhumba pants. It was so common that almost no one took any note-like so what. My little nieces wore them all the time. Nowadays there are too many people with psychological problems with kids. I often don't recognize this country anymore, the people in it have changed so radically in the last 40 years.
This plot literally makes no sense. There are about 10 kids in the play and 50 seats (at least). Why couldn't the kids invite both parents to the play?
There was supposedly a concert before the play and the school's band had 50 members. Even if Cindy were able to invite both parents, she would have been six tickets short!
But they weren't the only family with six kids and 2 parents back then. They wouldn't perform for just one family. They would just put on 2 performances
In this episode Cindy should’ve learnt 2 life lessons; First you can’t always get what you want whether one or both parents show up to see your play, second you should’ve told your teacher a BS lie always be truthful no matter what that’s very un Brady like young lady.
Doesn't tarnish anything. He was a handsome man, a wonderful actor who portrayed the absolute perfect father and husband. Of all the TV Dads out there, he was my favorite. And I don't feel badly that he was gay either . . . I only feel badly that he had to hide who he was. Must have been very difficult for him.
He actually had a very troubled side to his life. Married to a woman, as well as having kids, when he really did not want that. He would frequently go "cruising" in the gay areas of Los Angeles, hooking up with different guys and the like, which is how he ultimately contracted the AIDS virus. Funny, but this was well before the "outing" years. No one knew about the fact that he was gay because people simply kept their mouths shut. I hate to say this, but not all gay people have been able to keep up with the changes brought on by the liberation movement. Now that gays are much more accepted, publications such as The Advocate are forcing closeted gay people to "come out" on the notion that being discrete has somehow made them traitors. Well, a lot of gays are still very sensitive about their sexual status. Florence Henderson and Ann B. Davis knew about Robert, and frankly, I happen to think that Ann was also gay. She was never connected with any man, and she sort of "looked" the part.
Mike is very very smart he’s like the letter he’s like the dad on leave it to Beaver Ward Cleaver really really smart I think the Needs dad’s like that now
Check out My Three Sons episode, "It's a Woman's World"- Dodie went through a similar situation in a play, but Steve saves the day for her, just as Mike convinces Cindy to get back into the play, before the play director calls on Mary Ditmyer!!!
Why not just have the two shows for everyone? If the kids were available to do a second show, why not invite all the parents?? Cute idea, but kinda dopey.
Cindy got the lead role in the play. Then she finds out due to limited seating in the school auditorium the cast of the play was only allowed to invite one member of their family to see it. Cindy couldn't decide which one so she faked a sprained ankle and dropped out. When her teacher tells them this Mike solves this by telling Cindy that he had to go to a business meeting the night of her play. As to why the bunch were the only audience in the auditorium? That was because that Mrs. Engstrum had the kids do a special performance for Cindy's entire family.
I think it was just a matter of dressing up for the special occasion of going to "the theater" to see a performance. Back then, people got more dressed up to go out to see a play in the theater.
what kind of a school play that only allows 1 parent? And then at the end, none of the other kids’ parents could come but the entire Brady Bunch came. uhhh privilege much? This is the worst episode
Charlie Chang it was a more innocent time...this was before the sexual revolution of the late '60s fully permeated American society and now you have kiddie rapers all over the place...it's creepy to you but at the time no one would've thought anything of it...this was before the era of Jon Benet Ramsey
I have pics of the front of the church I went to from the late 70s to mid 80s. The pics were taken by someone in the early 70s before we went there. Pretty much every girl had on short dresses in those pics. Boys all had dress slacks, dress shoes and button down shirts. It was just the style back then and people didn't think about the fact that people would be aroused by children. I see little girls today dressed much worst, maybe not short dresses so much, but reveling shirts and such.
@@kathleenmaclachlan1541 - I’m sorry. I’m glad Cindy’s school was willing to put on a second production for just one family (if that’s the lesson I’m supposed to get…) But I’m still not understanding what was wrong with my question? Honestly.
For girls Jan or Marcia’s age and obviously older, I would think yes, knock first, establishing more of a respect for privacy. But Cindy seems only a few years out of toddler age so it seems like knocking as he walks in would probably be normal. Kids that young require significantly more supervision.
@@zebrastreet9993 - Ok, that’s a reasonable answer. Maybe Jan & Marcia weren’t home. I guess I was thinking it should be somewhat of a habit on Dad’s part to knock. 😜 Clearly, some people don’t get my snarky sense of humor, and take offense like I’m trashing the whole show or something. 🤷♂️
@@finster1968 I didn’t think you were trashing the show. It wasn’t a bad question. I feel like one of the things that comes up in these comments on Brady videos is comparing Then to Now and that includes the way people interacted with each other and social and household norms and such, which your question seemed to fall under.
