I stopped watching TV. The last decade I watched only old shows. A decade ago they still had great documentaries and some good TV miniseries. I don't know the new shows. Maybe TV got better.
I watched one episode yesterday. It was campy fun. Let’s face it… a lot of TV doesn’t appeal to our intellects. Even as a young child I knew that Gilligan’s island was dumb (but I still watched because I had a huge crush on Mary Ann). But at least shows like the Brady Bunch weren’t vile or trying to shove political messages down our throats.
Love the jab from "That 70's Show". Red says, "Who gave these people another show.? This is crap!" Kittty tries to watch it objectively then she says, "Oh no...this IS crap." Then turns the TV off. 😂
Oh my gosh! This short piece with the Brady kid's comments had me laughing! Their variety show did suck, but the Brady Bunch show was one of the best ever!!
Eve Plumb was the only smart one of the cast, opting to skip it. I was about 10 when this aired and even at that age, I could tell that it was just horrible. It was trying to be like the Donny & Marie Show or Sonny & Cher Show, but it lacked…talent. They weren’t good singers, they weren’t good dancers, and the writing was awful. I feel embarrassed for them when I watch it - I can only imagine how embarrassed they were to be doing that garbage on the set.
I grew up on the Bradys. As a child of the 70s, I like it then and having just re-watched them here on RU-vid, I liked them now. Fun. Represents the time.
As a kid in the 70’s the sitcom was a favorite in our family, but looking back… many of the shows were poorly written. Nonetheless, in comparison to what we have today, those shows were more wholesome than the crap aired today.
It was the greatest variety show in the history of television, a towering inferno of high octane entertainment. And the only variety show to have a pool, that was the pinnacle of the genre. And Fake Jan, perfection.

Yes. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time a variety show was hosted by the cast "in character." I've also heard Bruce Villanch (who wrote for the series) say that it was originally proposed as a Variety Show for the Patridge Family -- which makes more sense.
I don't know how this could be voted in the top 5 of "The Worst Show Ever"....compared to some of the shit that's on today I don't think it's that bad. Stop labeling it so bad! The show was a reflection of the times. The 70's were ridiculous and fun. I would give anything to go back to those days. Sorry but I disagree with the critics take on the show.
