@@alessandrozuffi5068 That's what they mean. The CGI is bad but it holds up pretty well despite being almost 30 years old, because practical effects were still mainly used. It's why Jurassic Park still looks good, but something from like 10 years ago that uses a metric fuck ton of CGI doesn't.
I love how Carmen goes from being severley injured by the aliens to hey my arm is perfectly fine now and I can use a big ass gun without any problems now.
Letting children watch as the poor man’s brain is noisily slurped out by that disgusting monster and gulped down like protein smoothie. They will dream about brains sucked out.
I was at a friend's house when i was a teen back in the 90's and he had picked this up from the video shop on VHS. I had never even heard of it at the time. We smoked a joint and got some pizza and watched this movie and i was blown away at how great it was! I miss those care-free days.
“3 klicks, south by southwest.” LoL. They just covered 3 kilometers in 4 1/2 minutes. That’s a 2 minute 25 second mile. These space troopers really are built different, LoL.
Just shrink the ammunition and speed it up... it will do the same amount of damage. Imagine guns that can accelerate atoms or molecules to light speed... they would have nearly unlimited ammo... well, not unlimited energy to do so, but unlimited ammo ;-)
@@federikus2928 I like to believe the reason for this is that at the beginning they treated the bugs like humans and were destroyed. By the middle of the movie they learned where they should actually be shooting.
@@Microbe1972 Not exactly. As you increase speed and decrease size, you increase penetration. Eventually you will have overpenetration, and any amount of energy left in the projectile will be lost. A needle traveling at a velocity sufficient to deal damage equal to a modern rifle round would zip through a target dealing minimal damage, even to vitals.
@@bort6414 There you are totally right... Maybe shooting atoms or nucleus that interact with the atoms / molecules of the bugs... little fusion-reactions inside the bugs would cause critical damage 😄😄😄
@@jacobpop1 Ok about main nerves, but muscles? bones? lungs? Arteries? lymph vessels? Considering how thick that piercing leg was, it's impossible that she would be still alive, let alone even have a functional arm. Even in the unlikely scenario that she could have survived that, she would still be unconscious due to hypovolemic shock due to blood loss.
@@Gerald.BrofIovskibecause the director wanted it like that? It is not about WHY... if you want an answer: Maybe to show how protective he is? Maybe he is stupid? Maybe he didn't see this coming? He didn't know about the brain-needle-sucker-thing... how should he have predicted this thing?
The Starship Trooper special effects hold up extremely well considering that CGI technology was relatively new at the time. It looks better than many high budget Sci Fi films today,
3:15 Did anybody noticed he crawled in front of these cockroach insects and hissed at them like a grumpy cat? Then the closest insect makes an odd noise as if it felt offended by it?
In the real arthropod world, it’s often seen among predators, assassin bugs, spiders, etc. They literally suck up liquified tissue from their prey, regardless of brains or not.
Here are the most stupid comments: 1) "That scared me, when I watched it as a kid." ... It's not a movie for kids. 2) "The CGI still looks good." .... For facks sake, CGI was not invented in 2020! 3) "How can she hold a heavy gun?" .... Okay, but the rest of the movie was realistic for you? Big bugs? Breathable atmosphere on other planets? 4) "The movie still looks good for its age." .... Absolutely born after 2010. 5) "This movie is stupid." ..... So are you, if you dont get all the messages.
íts funny to see how that girl can use her left arm completely after that huge stab wound. She should have breathing difficulties too by that time let alone being able to use her left arm to hold the gun and fire in full auto without any pain
@muhayminquddusasri5043 It's just a movie! You throw your toys out the pram at made up movie bollocks yet a real life situation sees a 90lb woman lift a two ton car to save her baby from being crushed under the wheel and you have no qualms with that. You'd be surprised at the effect adrenaline can have on a human body.
That comment just made my day! 😂 I know this movie has a stupid story and other things but when i saw it for the very first time as a young boy, i was in love in science-fiction! 😍
She would be struggling to breath. Left lung fully pierced and most likely filling with blood, potential major subclavian vessels punctured, broken scapula, and a whole mess of muscle and nerve damage. But still one good lung, and a whole lot of adrenaline. She could potentially walk away but she would most likely die (bleed out or potentially drown in her own blood) without immediate care.
Recent Interviews with her said that it was because they shot those scenes out of order, with the celebration scene being filmed early on. It didn't occur to her at the time she had a massive puncture wound there!
It is very absurd, the wound in the collarbone that the girl suffered immobilized her almost completely from the arms, and she moves as if nothing had happened😂
What a great movie, had so much depth even if at the time this movie was totally misunderstood as "just another cheesy movie". Watching this now as an older gent, wow. what a classic. They dont make them like this anymore.
Zander is wrong, there will never anyone like him to kill the bugs. Zander was a jerk and got what he deserves. If there are people like Zander then they will die horribly.
This is such an underrated gem. We used to absolutely crave with with my brother when we were kids, watching it on our VHS over and over again. Didn't matter we didn't get the satira of it at all. I get it now. And I still would watch this extremely entertaining, completely insane, disgusting and funny movie. I don't think it actually was understood at the time of the release but indeed deserves a cult status. Would you like to know more?
