Since "The Matrix," the idea that we might be living in a simulation has become familiar to many people. Mark Zuckerberg's "Metaverse" actually wants to turn our lives more or less into a matrix scenario. In philosophy, the "brain-in-a-tank" thought experiment has been discussed for years: Could I be a brain in a tank that is only fooled by highly complex technologies into thinking the world is real?
Underlying all this are two questions: am I my brain? and: does this brain function like a computer?
We face these questions together with Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Fuchs, Prof. Dr. Barbara Drossel and some of our house theologians around the Center Faith & Society.
